Rush Limbaugh’s diatribes against Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University law student who spoke out about contraception, continue to roil the political environment. And it may be nicking the bottom line for the conservative talk show personality who draws millions of listeners daily.
Republicans, already facing a potential problem with many female voters over a controversial issue, are scrambling to respond – distancing themselves from a powerful voice among many of the party faithful. House Speaker John Boehner and GOP presidential hopefuls Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney put out statements – although the tone seemed grudging.
US Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts, who faces what could be a tough re-election campaign against Democrat Elizabeth Warren, says Limbaugh should apologize for calling Ms. Fluke “a slut,” “a prostitute,” and one of his signature slurs “a feminazi.”
But Limbaugh, who’s made himself very wealthy with his bloviating conservative commentary and mocking wise cracks, shows no sign of backing off, recently targeting other women as well for his ridicule.
When House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi organized a meeting to hear Ms. Fluke’s testimony, Limbaugh referred to the former House Speaker as “Botox-filled.” When racecar driver Danica Patrick voiced her support of President Obama’s rule regarding contraception, Limbaugh said, “What would you expect from a woman driver?”
Whether or not it will make any difference to Limbaugh’s operation is unclear, but several advertisers on his syndicated radio show have pulled their ads and more are considering it.
Select Comfort, which sells Sleep Number mattresses, tweeted: "Recent comments by RUSH LIMBAUGH do not align w/our values, so we made decision to immediately suspend all advertising on that program."
Quicken Loans announced; “Due to continued inflammatory comments – along w/valuable feedback from clients & team members – QL has suspended ads on RUSH LIMBAUGH program."

In one of her first interviews she is quoted as talking about how she reviewed Georgetown’s insurance policy prior to committing to attend, and seeing that it didn’t cover contraceptive services, she decided to attend with the express purpose of battling this policy. During this time, she was described as a 23-year-old coed. Magically, at the same time Congress is debating the forced coverage of contraception, she appears and is even brought to Capitol Hill to testify. This morning, in an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show, it was revealed that she is 30 years old, NOT the 23 that had been reported all along.
In other words, folks, you are being played. She has been an activist all along and the Dems were just waiting for the appropriate time to play her. “

Now for the “rusty irony”... Rush MADE this story. Had he not mentioned Ms. “Flaky” Fluke, her “testimony” would have pretty much been ignored. He could claim he “made” her!(pun intended!). This is hit-and-run story, it’s NOT in the interest in the DemWits or Ms. Flaky Fluke that this get deeply vetted, or the phoniness will be exposed(pun intended again!). Such is my HO.
I honestly hope she does does sue him —it will generate headlines. Rush is a media-centric salesman (a born one) who knows, “There is no such thing as ‘bad publicity’.”
This is especially true for Rush, who goes consummately ignored by the MSM —they would HAVE to cover the suit.
Rush is not quite as headline-hungry as that long-haired NYC FM guy, but he’s close.
By far more complex for Rush would be the requirement for destruction of SleepTrain, who was a very loyal friend of Rush for DECADES —from before even when Rush was syndicated.
While Rush is loyal to his old friends, will he be so TO A FAULT? Because that is what we will see —if he doesn’t now do what he can to nudge SleepTrain towards destruction (or just into the doldrums before they come crawling back) it will be work, work, work:
“You must sometimes hang a Captain, the better to ENCOURAGE THE OTHERS”.
Like Dirty Harry said, “(Sandra) go ahead, make my day!”
Let MSM expose themselves to all the vile names they’ve called conservative women.
Maybe Chris Dodd can testify about his and Ted Kennedy’s “waitress sandwiches.”
Then there’s Cooper Anderson (ain’t he soooo cute) calling the Tea Party “teabaggers.”

Ms. Fluke’s “issues” are 100% self-inflicted. When you publicly state that you need $3,000 of contraception over 3-4 years, the question that begs to be be answered is why? Folks have done the cost analysis ..... and she would require a revolving door on her dorm room/apartment.
The actual crux of the matter is exposed in the comments of some lib who said something like “the Bible clingers need to ‘get with it’!”. Well, finally we have someone like Rush who calls an immoral woman what she really is rather than celebrating promiscuity. I hope he stands tall & tells the weanie advertisers who are SO offended to grow a set and stand up for the traditional values of America.
And truth is an absolute defense in a defamation action ...
Rush was wrong. Fluke isn’t a prostitute. She doesn’t get to do that until after she passes the Bar Exam.
If Fluke is a lesbian, she will have to explain why she needs free birth control pills paid for by the taxpayer.
