This is a side comment about something Rush said the other day:

Santorum won 57 out of 83 counties. That's an incredible percentage, and it reminds me of the map of the United States, red and blue by county, when you look at that after a presidential race. The whole country is red (signifying Republican) except LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Washington, New York, Boston, Chicago and Detroit. The Republicans win 80% of America's counties and lose the White House. Santorum won 57 out of 83 counties. And, as of now, Santorum, while losing the popular vote, has won seven of the 14 congressional districts; Romney won six; there's still one at least right now

Romney won the most liberal part of Michigan. Districts 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14.

The Michigan Republican Party (MRP) Credentials Committee voted 4-2 last night to give Mitt Romney both of the state's at-large delegates, State Policy Committee Chair Mike Cox told MIRS today.

Cox was one of two "no" votes on the committee which met via telephone, along with attorney Eric Doster The "yes" votes included GOP National Committeeman Saul Anuzis, a Romney supporter, and MRP Chair Bobby Schostak.

That would put the delegate split at 16 for Romney and 14 for Rick Santorum, after each candidate won 14 delegates apiece in those divided by Michigan's 14 congressional districts.

As MIRS first reported on Wednesday, the MRP was delaying a final decision on the delegate split until after consulting with attorneys.

Cox said that according to the MRP rules, Santorum and Romney should each get one of Michigan's two at-large delegates based on their take of the popular vote.

"I supported Mitt, but the vote was clearly wrong," Cox said of the Credentials Committee. "It's kind of like Third World voting. We published rules and then we voted to change the rules."

Well right now I am going for the altar boy because he is the only one getting votes. I would be on Newt’s side if he was getting votes. Either one of them is acceptable to me. Newt has not been in play since SC and now he is only has a pulse in Georgia. He isn’t even winning in TN. He is being slaughtered in Ohio. If he wants to get people to vote for him, he needs to win more states than everyone else on Super Tuesday. Newt thinks winning Georgia is enough but I don’t think so at all. Come on Newt, let’s get serious about this race.

In Michigan the GOP establishment is largely owned by the SEIU. Our current senate majority leader was a co sponsor of the bill that forced home care workers into a union they didn't want.

This is accomplished by creating a shell government "employer" for some 42,000 individuals who are actually hired by elderly or disabled Medicaid recipients to provide personal care services in their homes. A Mackinac Center lawsuit is pending regarding a similar arrangement imposed on home day care providers.

Wendy Day of Common Sense in Government has reported on Facebook that Allen was the recipient of a $2,000 campaign contribution from the SEIU on June 22, six weeks before SB 731 was introduced. In another post she hints that introducing and passing the bill was part of a quid-pro-quo between Senate Republicans and the SEIU for union support of former state representative Mike Nofs in a November 2009 special election, which state Republican Party Chair Ron Weiser had characterized as among the party's top priorities. Day observes that the SEIU endorsed Nofs on August 22nd, two weeks after SB 731 was introduced, and sent four full-time workers to help on his campaign.

Michigan Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Roger Khan, R-Saginaw, received $5,000 from the Service Employees International Union on June, 9, 2011. That was the day House Bill 4003 was sent to the Senate, one day after its passage in the House.

It should be noted that Roger Kahn is the uncle of our senate majority leader Richardville who co sponsored the forced unionization bill I mentioned above.

The squealing about Santorum appealing to union voters was only because he was cutting in on their turf. Our current governor is a result of crossover voters and he called Santorum dirty for doing exactly what he did. He then said he wants to keep the primary open despite Santorum's "dirty tricks".

I voted for Newt. I still hope he pulls it out in a one on one race with Romney (increasingly unlikely.) What I am sick of though are the attacks on candidates, in this case Romney,for how they win. Romney is being attacked here for turning out more voters in regions where he is popular. He and Gingrich have been attacked for running negative adds that devastated their opponents and resulted in huge changes in polling/voting #s. Santorum has been attacked for turning out large numbers of evangelical voters. Santorum has been attacked for taking millions in PAC money from Foster Friess, Gingrich from Sheldon Aldeson, Romney from his Bain friends. Come on people. Stop being such pussies when your guy loses. I want the GOP candidate in the end to be someone who (A) Campaigns harder in areas where he is strong to boost his numbers on election day . (B) Runs hard hitting negative adds in huge numbers financed by tons of money from people who care about getting rid of Obama. (C) Turns out the demographics who like him or don’t like Obama in big numbers. (D) Wins!! Stop complaining when someone on our side figures out how to win an election, it’s a refreshing change for the Stupid Party.

People elect representatives, counties don't. If someone gets more votes, why does it matter how many counties they won? I don't get it.

I just thought this was an interesting thread from back in March now that the GOP “mod squad” is busy blaming conservatives.
