This is kind of sad. This debate thread moves slower in terms of posts than any debate thread I've ever seen on FR. Why? Because it's a complete echo-chamber delivering no useful information. It's no less astro-turf for Gingrich than the stacked audience is for Romney.

Watching supposed conservatives bash a conservative stalwart like Rick Santorum because he's not their preferred candidate is boring. When FR becomes a one-candidate forum to the detriment of all others, its relevance diminishes drastically.

The goal here is to beat Romney, then beat Obama. If you've forgotten that, you're contributing to the election of one of them.

Thank you!!!! I like Newt, but Santorum IS a conservative and a good man.

I don’t understand why everyone is attacking him, he’s on OUR side guys.

Because it’s basically been a Romney/Santorum girlie slapfest. Paul and Newt have had little time to put forth any ideas.

Rick Santorum devolved into a personal policy debate with Romney which he did not win and even worse was unable to control the conversation. When a debater like Gingrich is able to take any steering and put Obama clearly behind the problem, the rest of the panel loses. One Winner, Two Losers, and the Gyno in the attic.

Nothing wrong with Santorum personally, but he is clearly a second tier candidate compared to Newt. He just stayed out of the target long enough to be still standing.

LOL! I just read the first sentence and think, oh, ok, skip this one...

Santorum just stood up to the audience. Nice.

Romney is very well rehearsed. I swish he’d have an “I like cars” moment.

Amen! My dad, who is not a big Santorum supporter, said that he thought Santorum did well tonight. He wouldn’t say that if he thought Santorum did badly.

My prediction for the ticket, after watching tonight’s debate:

It will be Romney/Santorum.

Just a gut feeling.

Newt and Paul, at different ends of the spectrum, may be too extreme, each in his own way, for mainstream Republican voters.

I can’t even begin to imagine what venom and insanity a Mormon/Catholic ticket would bring forth from the Leftists.

Both men would need extra Secret Service protectors.
