WASHINGTON, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Under fire from Republicans over rising gasoline prices, the White House on Tuesday highlighted factors beyond its control for gains in global oil markets, as it sought to deflect blame over a potentially damaging election-year issue.

Obama, a Democrat, acknowledged the risk posed by higher gas prices as he welcomed congressional approval of a payroll tax cut extension. The White House later argued that it was unfair to single out the administration over prices at the pump.

"There are no magic solutions to rising oil prices," said White House press secretary Jay Carney. "The rising gas prices clearly the effect of a variety of factors on the global price of oil," he told reporters, citing geopolitical unrest and rapid growth in India and China.

Who knows, maybe the white house can make Americans un-remember all of the times over the past few years the democrats stood against new domestic oil exploration and recovery.

“White House seeks to deflect blame over rising gas prices”

Forget it, you own the gas prices after panning the pipeline.

Gee, I miss the good old days when times were simpler and everything was just Bush’s fault. These complicated reasons for high gas prices are too much for my primitive bitter clinger brain to comprehend.

Here’s to hoping that gasoline gets to $8.00 a gallon.

It hits 8 bucks and Porky Pig could run against Obunghole and get elected.

“There are no magic solutions to rising oil prices,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney

Of course there’s no “magic solutions” but there is solutions and one is called Keystone Pipeline.

Perhaps you haven't heard, but the White House is blaming the Republicans for stopping the pipeline.

“The White House later argued that it was unfair to single out the administration over prices at the pump. “

I think it is perfectly fair and just. Obama, pelosi, clinto—all blamed Bush for being in bed with the oil companies when gas prices approached $2/gal. Hussein OWNS this. Just keep playing the clip of him stating that prices would necessarily rise to $5/gal.(under his administration). That’s what he demanded—that’s what we are getting.

Just look how the story is framed...it tells you all you need to know about how 'in the tank' the media really is...

Under fire from Republicans....blah blah blah...

So, it's only those mean spirited Pubbies in Congress that are against these prices, right? What a joke!

Frame the fight of Obama vs the Pubbies, with Obama being on the high ground, and hope they ride the storm.

“Obama acknowledged the risk posed by higher gas prices.”

Been grocery shopping lately, Zero? No, of course you haven’t.
High gas prices stick to Obama just like s**t sticks to a blanket.

Remember Bush Senior inspecting a grocery store laser UPC bar code reader, like the Wright brothers might look at a jet plane?
Imagine Obama standing at a gas pump. This is a killer campaign ad. Too bad Romney would be just as confounded: “$4.00 a gallon: Is that all? Is that bad?”

Anybody heard of any unrest in Iran lately?

This is CBSHI-! propaganda for Obummer

So Obama’s vapid foreign policy lights a fire in the middle east because he’s on the side of radical islam and they try and blame higher oil prices on someone else?

What is wrong with this country (rhetorical)? If any other person that isn’t a politician kept taking credit for what is good (deserved or not) and blaming everything that is bad on other things, people wouldn’t give them the time of day.

How do these same people buy this crap? Carney actually said it was the GOP timeframe that “forced” Obama do deny the project? Really?

I can get 30 year old people to believe in Santa Clause again before I could get them to believe that crap. But then I don’t usually hang around stupid people.

Bottom line (wake up GOP candidates and stop being so quiet): the price of a gallon of gas when Obama took office was about $1.85. It’s now twice that.

Hammer that home GOP, you spineless cowards. The economy sucks and you play footsie instead of attacking! We gave you weapons in 2010 - SO USE THEM YOU PIECES OF CRAP!

John Boehner and Mitch McConnell can rot in hell for all I care.

I believe that above everything else, the price of gas at the pumps on election day will determine if Obama serves another term.
