And I suppose they are trying to blame this on the police.

I call it poetic justice.

Dayum.

Whatever she did wrong - to get tazed - I bet she don’t do it again.

Given that she tried to run, sounds like she was guilty of the hit and run.

No sympathy.

A terrible tragedy for certain. However, the individual must assume responsibility for the consequences of a series of very poor decisions. Nobody forced her to flee an auto accident. Nobody force her to evade arrest since last September. Nobody forced her to attempt to flee police custody once she was arrested. The act of being tasered as fleeing suspect who has ignored a lawful order to stop is a direct consequence of her decision to ignore that lawful order and continue her attempt to flee lawful police custody.

She has nobody to blame but herself and I’m glad the officer administering the taser has been cleared of any wrong doing.

Shame it got to that, but he wasn’t trying to kill her. These days, maybe her drug dealer can sue, too. Loss of steady revenue ‘n all.

The woman is responsible for her actions, no question. If I was the officer that tased her, I wouldn't be proud of what I did. I don't really see any reason to tase her other than he was too fat or lazy to chase her down. To me the tase was unnecessary and the resulting death would weigh on me. Over kill, literally.

Why do we let fat out of shape people become cops??

Seriously? This girl needed tazed? This guy may have been cleared of wrongdoing, but Jesus really? you couldn’t cover the feet that speprated you with her without pulling a tazer

This dude, and the district which he lives are now going to face a wrongful death lawsuit that they are going to lose, and have to pay big time because this fat ass was too out of shape or too damned lazy or both to cover 3 feet.

Pretty harsh considering you don't know the extent of the hit and run. Hit and run can be anything from denting a fender without reporting it and leaving the scene to hitting someone one and causing bodily injury or death. So you are saying, assuming she was even guilty of the charge, that even if she only dented someone's car she deserved to be relegated to a life of being a veggie? Said life, of course, promises to be very short as they will probably pull the plug soon. Sounds like an accident as far as the police action goes, how was the cop to know what would happen when he tased her? OTH, Cops using tasers have been responsible for many deaths and injuries considering that the taser is supposed to be a non deadly response tool.

Sorry to not cater to black and white arguments, but are Tasers really appropriate for use by a 220 lb. man against a 90-lb woman - and on a asphalt surface, no less? I mean do we no longer require cops to EVER pursue a suspect on foot? Are too many of them disabled-by-donuts to effect a proper pursuit? This guy has a belly like Santa Claus, but couldn’t he have pursued her for 20 feet? Do they have no training to withdraw use if suspect is on a hard surface, like mall tile, concrete or pavement? Again, sorry to be the only one to disagree that being strung out on pills and coke and running from a fat lazy cop means you deserve a death sentence.

“Seriously? This girl needed tazed? “

I kinda agree. I think the the tazer is used in circumstances a gun never would be used because it’s considered safe. It should be used as a last resort.

I do think it is a shame she’s a young girl who is permanently injured, but it certainly isn’t the police who did this. Had she not been running from them she would not have had this unfortunate accident.

She obviously had no respect for the law, but the laws of physics don’t happen to care if you do not respect them.

Correction - he is 267 lbs! This grossly obese lazy cop should be tasered the next time he opens a Twinkie.

Yeah, I guess he should have popped a couple caps in her instead of using the taser.

You’d be proud you were so fat and out of shape or lazy, or both, you couldn’t cover 3 feet and had to rely on a tazer to do what any normal person could have done with ease? And killed a woman in the process?

No doubt that the woman holds accountability for her decision to run, but to be proud of killing a girl because you are too fat or lazy to cover 3 feet? Just what warped world you live in I hope I never visit.

I don’t think too many officers...or soldiers for that matter...are “proud” of what they have to do in inflicting harm on other people as a part of their duty. But they do it anyway because it is their duty and to allow domestic or foreign criminals or enemies to escape brings a worse set of problems.

The officer and his actions were reviewed and cleared.

Maybe he was not in a good position to “chase her down” but could fire the taser. I wouldn’t judge so harshly. The woman was a criminal who had left the scene of a hit and run, had evaded police capture for five months, and who, when captured, broke free and tried to run.

As you say, she is the one responsible. So, short of being there and knowing that what you are speculating at is actually true (ie. he was too lazy...a pretty harsh judgement), I would not try and place the weight of guilt (or blame) on this officer. He was cleared, and IMHO, ought to have been cleared.

A sad tragedy that she fell such that she incurred a brain injury...but, IMHO, that unfortunate consequence belongs completely to her.

I don't understand the support here for his despicable actions. This fat creep has no business being a police officer.

To hunt down and capture a suspect, sure - chasing down the perp is sometimes necessry. But, if the suspect is captured, and is being charged - and they decide to make a break; I've no problem with the Taser being given. Why is it we expect police to go to a Track Meet, at a moment's notice? Does the woman bear absolutely no responsibility? Must she be rendered completely restrained, at every opportunity? Are the police expected to be hit, slapped, kicked and injured, based soley upon the 'mood' of the suspected perp? I miss the good old days when a cop would say "Stop, or I'll shoot". Warning shot is 100% optional.
