The Obama administration has released an economic report that claims everything is coming up roses, and it is making the rounds of the MSM's news outlets. Truth is, when you look into the numbers, it's rather easy to come to the conclusion that the economic reports are as screwy as the administration's employment numbers. In order to convince Americans that his economic measures are working, Obama is claiming there has been an increase in retail sales from December to January by a seasonally adjusted .4%. The administration goes on to explain that while the economy is moving in a positive direction, it is still slow. They also point out that the recently reported gains reduced unemployment to 8.3%, proving that Socialist economic policies are working. However, Obama's unemployment numbers have since been proven to be lies. Have I stated that we are in an election year and that Obama needs to get re-elected in order to continue transforming the greatest country in the history of mankind into a Soviet style basket case? To assist in the destruction, the MSM has been knowingly repeating this administration's lies.
Instead of reporting how America's real unemployment is actually up between 19 and 25%, they report that Obama has been able to get unemployment down to 8.3%. Instead of reporting that the government is spending more money than it is taking in, and that retail sales have dropped by almost $100 billion from December to January, we are told by the administration's propaganda machine that retail sales have increased by .4%. In an election year, the MSM will do everything in their power to convince Americans that Obama is even greater than Ronald Reagan.

Monthly U.S. Total Gasoline Retail Deliveries By Refiners.
Note: the two low points are for October and November 2011, the most recent data.
Graphic: U.S. Energy Information Administration
By looking at the usage of gasoline by us citizens, you will notice that it really does back up my point that Americans are not going anywhere to buy anything. The refineries are not delivering gas to your local service station because neither you nor your neighbor are buying gas. We are staying home because our stagnant income does not allow us to put extra gas in our cars, let alone drive around to purchase things we cannot afford. Again, please notice the last two data points on the graph above. They point to a historic low amount of gas being used by Americans, which has a direct effect on the overall retail sales. Which in turn will affect the employment of Americans. So unless Americans begin buying more gas to go to the store, be prepared for the administration to offer up more bogus unemployment numbers like the ones I wrote about last week which Obama and the MSM do not want you to know exist.

Good idea.
Last week I passed through part of Forest Acres just outside of Columbia that I haven’t been through in months and saw the Goodwood Custom Furniture shop with liquidation sale. That was a sad sight. It was a good place to shop for furniture.
A few weeks ago, I got a mass mailing from a small business ran by a fellow that I am not worthy of putting batteries in his 7D’s saying in essence things have become very bleak. That was really depressing.
I was in Myrtle Beach for what became a reduced paying gig involving the Marathon. Driving around by the oceanside to get to my hotel, I saw quite a few oceanfront ones shut down and boarded up.
The gas chart is quite telling. I live in a situation where I can only spend 15 bucks a week for gas. Luckily my job is only 5 miles away but my car is a beater and sucks it up fast. Also lucky for me is a wal mart in walking distance. So I literally drive to work and pretty much nowhere else as I can’t afford to do so.
$99.4 trillion in unfunded liabilities, including future commitments, according to Paul Ryan. Batter throw some water on those overheated government printing presses before they melt.
Barack laughs as he flings another ten billion dollars at a failing Mickey Mouse windmill maker and his America-hating wife boards her private 747 for a ski trip.
If we had only listened to Senator McCarthy.
The outsourcing of our jobs played a huge role in the destruction of our “Ownership Society”; many well-intentioned borrowers have had their lives destroyed by it (and now won’t be borrowing any time in the near future). The lax credit standards were designed just to keep up the illusion that our standard of living wasn’t going down the toilet; it wasn’t designed just to move houses, but also to allow people to buy cars, groceries, toys, etc. that they could no longer afford with their weaker paychecks.
“Unfortunately the noble vision of the “Ownership Society” was exploited by criminal predators who gamed the relaxed lending standards required to implement the vision, and turned the noble potential into a nightmare of systemic corruption whose a$$paper fruits are still poisoning the global financial infrastructure.”
Noble visions can endure for centuries...on paper. In practice, they die before sundown on the first day.
Idealism is an intellectual disorder, in that it rejects the real in favor of fantasy; for instance the idealist will favor “social justice” over actually-existent natural justice, thus directly leading to systemically imposed injustice.
Idealism is a totalitarian virtue only.
>>I saw quite a few oceanfront ones shut down and boarded up.
Yep. Lots of 4000+ sq foot stuccoed boxes standing empty on the plains of Colorado too.
No trees. No children's toys. No signs of life. Just wind and empty promises made by developers who've long since cashed their checks and skedaddled with their sub-prime/creatively financed loot.
Somebody is paying taxes on all those empty buildings -- and I expect that would be whoever is holding the securitized a$$paper.
For example:
Empty or not... it's still evidently a Cash Cow for the Tax Collector...

Who's paying those taxes? Whoever the suckers were that ended up underwritting this mess, that's who:

You bet. Especially when FReepers who don't know how to use HTML to resize an image down to something 'reasonable' when posting it, like to postcard size (I have a 22" widescreen and some photos posted are too large for my screen). And for FReepers stuck in 'deal-up hell' that kills them. And for those with slower computers all those big pics can lock it up.
But it is a good idea and there's an easy way around it. Save the Pictures on-line. Upload them to any of the Free Photo 'Storage' Galleries. I have a Photobucket account (among a bunch of others) and then you can just post a Direct Link to the photos, it's a simple Copy & Paste command given right on the Photobucket page. That helps FReepers and doesn't eat bandwidth.
And with Phobucket you can make the pic's Private for 'Eyes Only' accessed by a password so that DU and Dem RAT trolls can't see them. They'd click the link but without the password, they'd couldn't open the 'Album' and see the pics ;-). I do this when I upload Family Pictures I take to my Albums to prevent other Photobucket users from seeing my family pics. The PW could be something as simple as 'FR', case sensitive FreeRepublic, or a tad more secure like 'ObamaStinks'. And the PW could be sent out via FReep Mail like a ping list.
(Just a thought on how to do it)
Our shopping trips are way down, not because of the recession but because of the Internet. Shopping used to constitute 25% of all mileage.
>>Idealism is an intellectual disorder,
"We have Nicaragua, soon we will have El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico. One day, tomorrow or five years or fifteen years from now, we're going to take 5 to 10 million Mexicans and they are going into Dallas, into El Paso, into Houston, into New Mexico, into San Diego, and each one will have embedded in his mind the idea of killing ten Americans."
--Thomas Borge, Nicaragua Interior Minister as quoted in the Washington Times, March 27, 1985
Is that mere Idealism or a developing reality that requires countermeasures?
America doesn't put human heads on pikes. If you have a problem with that then pack your tribal shyte and head for Somalia - and send us a report about how well it really works in practice.
I run a small B2B business. Just since last November, 4 of our clients have closed up shop, and 2 more are on the verge of going under (they can’t pay us any more). Our staff has gone down from 11 to just 2. Other business owners are just not spending any money, so getting new clients is much harder than before. Our business went from steady growth to struggling to survive over the last 3 years.
That is actually a good idea, visually. Would that not also show in an accurate birth/death report from the BLS? The birth/death report is totally made up by their own admission.
I think the author is on to something. Makes sense to me. The history of the death of this Country will be most revealing if anyone is left to care.
[use HTML to resize an image down to something ‘reasonable’ when posting it]
HTML doesn’t change the size of the file for the image being rendered, regardless of the size it appears on the screen. So I generally try to keep file size <80k.
I can render a postage stamp sized image on your screen — from a 10+MB file to demonstrate if you’d like?
>>The outsourcing of our jobs played a huge role
Uhuh. Look at the ownership of a technology outsourcing company called Tavant, circa 2007.

Wow! I’ve posted here for more than ten years on a host of controversial topics, and have engaged in numerous hot disputes, but you’re the first disputant to assert that my carefully chosen metaphorical handle was somehow an expression of nihilistic primitivism!
Congratulations - on totally evading my point and showing yourself to be a cut-and-paste *ss.
