House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday morning that the government should require self-insured religious institutions, such as the Catholic church in Washington, D.C., to directly pay for contraception and abortifacients.
Pelosi talked about the importance of women's health, and then said, "Yes, I think that all institutions who cover, who give, health insurance should cover the full range of health insurance issues for women."

The cowardly Catholic church will not excommunicate.
Absolutely!! Ring the Bell! Close the Book! Extinguish the Candle!! NOW.
What happen to the days when Kings and Emperors got excommunicated for assaulting the liberty of the Church.
I agree. She should be excommunicated immediately, but sadly I think we know that won’t happen.
If the church wants to reach Catholics it’s past time to show them that Gods law is more important than the amount of money one puts in the basket.
Cue Richard Burton as Beckett.
Seriously, it’s time to start showing people the door.
i wish her no ill... but there is a warm place waiting for her in the after life.
No kidding.
The Church will not be considered seriously in this fight until they do exactly that.
But the Vatican seems afraid of alienating the American left. I suspect that's because so many Catholics are democrats.
1) George H. Niederauer, Archbishop of San Francisco
2) Donald Cardinal Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington
Please direct your respectful request for public discipline in the face of Nasty Pelousy's public scandal to those two men.
NO-ONE ELSE can do what you appear to want.
Incidentally, Cardinal Wuerl concurred with Joseph F Naumann, Archbishop of Kansas City when the latter effectively excommunicated the abortionist rat Kathleen Sebellius.
> The cowardly Catholic church will not excommunicate.
Don’t confuse the cowardly Bishops with the church.
Since the atheists want contraception and abortion, they should pay for it.
Are there any self-insured FReepers??
How do you feel about being forced to pay for this crap out of your own pocket?
It’s never been the Church’s policy to excommunicate morons, bell-ringers like Quasimodo. If they have the brains to know they’re sinning, they’re already doomed, and no amount of excommunication will intensify their hells. What we really need is someone outside the Church to point out the sheer banality of their corruption.
Wrong. If the Catholic church is morally opposed to these things, the government, per our First Amendment, has NO RIGHT demanding that they do so! If women who work under these organizations don't like that these health insurance companies don't provide them with these purely elective options, then they are free to leave and find a company that will provide these "benefits".
I'm not Catholic but how dare this wicked, vile, disgusting woman say that Catholic organizations MUST provide that which the Catholic church is opposed?! The Catholic church would go a long way in just throwing the hammer down on all these CINOs and excommunicating these people!
Wanna bet?
At least one American "catholic" politician will be publicly told not to present themselves for Holy Communion (not exactly formal "excommunication" per se) before the end of this year. Sebelius was privately instructed not to present herself for Holy Communion, which explains her vendetta against the Church in this HHS mandate.
Cardinal Burke is now Cardinal Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura and the proper application of Canon 915 (excommunication of grave sinners who cause scandal) is his pet project. He has not let it slide. The bishops and the Vatican are realizing this MUST be done. You'll see it soon enough.
Either that or a heavenly zot..........
Nuttier than squirrel crap!
Look now, Newt’s couch cozy buddy fellow Global Warming Hoax propagandist/environmentalist Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro is joining Obama with their attacks on the church and Christians.
