While the GOP is preoccupied with selecting a candidate to oppose incumbent Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama is working hard to erase her image as an "angry Black woman" and promote her husband's re-election campaign along the way. While she is hoping that a series of television appearances will cement the unmarried mom and single women's vote for her husband, she is also obviously trying to re-sculpt her image into that of a pro-America, pro-military and patriotic mom who is fun-loving and pleasant to be around.
This last week, she has consistently been smiling and showing a positively treacly can-do spirit, appearing everywhere on daytime television and late night television talk shows. All this has been done under the guise of promoting her exercise and healthy eating campaigns on programs like Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, Rachael Ray, and Jimmy Fallon.
In this election year, though, there is a whole lot more going on "under the radar." While still widely admired, Mrs. Obama has come under considerable criticism for her "angry Black woman" attitudes and her comments revealing, shall we say, a lack of enthusiasm about America and conveying an unseemly attitude of superiority toward mainstream Americans. Something had to be done before the fall election. Single women and unmarried mothers were an important voting block for the president in the 2008 election, but they show whiffs of disaffection with the president in the run-up to 2012. Even Oprah, who was a prominent supporter in 2008, has stayed pretty much in the background thus far in the 2012 campaign, though she has reiterated her support for the president. So, Mrs. Obama's uncontroversial issues of good nutrition and exercise provide her with a wonderful excuse to go on television to show her "softer" self to audiences that are predominantly women.

Can’t put a shine on a turd. The harder you try the worse it gets.
Or lipstick on a pig..
Everytime I see her holding a white baby or posing with white kids, I want to vomit. That is probably her exact reaction as well when she has to be around whitey’s spawn.
You ain’t foolin’ anyone, gurl. Can someone post the picture of it with the honorable, LOYAL, skinny and beautiful French First Lady?
The angry, self-centered, pretentious woman who is the Worst Lady is just that. She is infused with hatred of Caucasians from her 25+ years as a disciple of reverend wright in Chicago. Why hasn’t anyone asked her about her hatred?
That’s one large-assed turd!!!
The person pictured in the book is Lenin, not Stalin.;)
That’s Lenin in the picture. And she’s looking angry in that picture!
"Who says I'm angry???"
I was wondering why she was on every magazine cover I’ve come across lately, from Readers Digest to Prevention.
I guess she’s trying to replace her “Angry Woman” image with “Crusading Food Nazi” image. Nice strategy.
She is “angry”. She is “black”. And she is a “woman”.
Put them together and she IS an “angry black woman”.
Forever etched into the minds of rational people is, “for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country”. Case closed.
You’re right... I couldn’t find a proper picture of stalin to fit.
Putting the three together, though, has the added implication of “Whitey hating racist”, which also applies.
I don't like it, nor do I believe most Americans like it, when a political person tries to "re-sculpt" themselves into something they're not. We can see right through whatever veneer she or the media portray.
Moochelle playin nice and the infantile campaign to paint conservatives as anti-woman with the “contraception” non-issue, likely not to work. Da Ho gots too much PR as angry hatin whitey and the birth control issue is long past its prime, but if these ploys work and women enmasse vote for nobama, it could be high time to re-visit the intelligence of Sufferage.
Yo, ofay - you want dis shovel upside yo head?
" Help lift us up, help us fight this fight to change transform this country in a fundamental way. This chance wont come around again."
~Michelle Obama
Had a coffee-out-the-nose moment when I saw this in a bookstore.
Uhhhh, no.
