Lower-income smokers in Utah may soon have to pay more for a doctor's visit if they continue the unhealthy habit. That is, if a bill currently making its way through the state legislature passes.
State Representative Paul Ray, R., is the author of the proposal to charge a Medicaid recipient a higher co-pay for doctor visits if he or she smokes cigarettes.

They’d get danged near lynched in the South for a similar proposal.
Seems fair to me. Then once the precedent is in they can charge more to all sorts of other people who engage in behaviors that run up health care costs.
Like homosexuals, crack addicts, pot smokers...you know, the Democrats’ key constituencies.
They SHOULD!! geesh, if are RICH enough to smoke a $5.00 a day pack, and STUPID enough to smoke a $5.00 a day pack or MORE, than you SHOULD pay more!!
Arent they taxed enough already?
So are these jerks going to remove the massive tax they put on cigarettes after the institute this or will that extra money go to more welfare spending.
They logical next in line are 1) the overweight and 2) those who eat unhealthy diets.

The American hysteria over health matters is the politicians royal road to increased taxes.

If this is truly how Utah feels, why don’t they just outlaw the things? They won’t because they want the tax money. Double standards here.

I want to see how they go after the fat people, and those with high cholesterol...
Not only do I roll my own, I grow my own. Couple this with the Feds policing school lunches, etc., we are seeing real tyranny in our face.
When is enough, going to be enough? The line in the sand seems a bit faint, eh?

Naw, probably be shot long before that, LOL.
But the whole issue would go away if the federal government stuck to what it was actually allowed to do.
