For nearly a year now, House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R=CA) and Attorney General Eric Holder have locked horns over Operation Fast and Furious. Throughout this time we have seen heated exchanges between the two during Congressional hearings, watched the DOJs narrative change more than once, and wondered why Holder has thus far been allowed to dictate the speed at which the committee can investigate him.
As of late, when Holder dug in and simply refused to the turn over the documents the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed, the contest between he and Issa turned into nothing less than a battle of wills. And Issa upped the ante when he drew a line in the sand and gave Holder until 5 pm on February 9th to comply with the subpoenas or face charges of contempt of congress.

(NOT VOTING gets 0bamao re-elected and it's all downhill from then on.)
Yes this is a straight forward cartel arming program run by the CIA. The Sinaloa cartel has worked with US intel for good while providing some access to their influence networks in return for a limited protection of their product network in the US. Now the SC is threatened by the Zetas who are far more competent and have far deeper connections to the Mexican power structure. The Zetas have recruited a substantial number of graduates kf the National Military Academy. The friendships and bonds formed by the ‘annual matriculation’, i.e. class year are far more important than the same sort of friendships formed at say West Point. Matricular fiends literally pledge to unilaterally aid and assist their ‘matricular brothers’ in any circumstance and anywhere. A number of the Zetas are covert and continue to serve in the Mexican Army. This is why the army as been generally ineffective in combating the Zetas and the despised and lowly Mexican Marine Corps (incidentally the most Americanized of the Mexican military) has emerged as the most effective force in the drug war.
The Zetas also possess an ideology. A crude one compounded of cypto masonic mumbo jumbo and Aztlan fantasy but an ideology none the ret that looks forward to fueling a guerrilla war against the ‘colossus if the north’ with the goal of A greater Mexico stretching from California to Panama. In this they see the Islamacists and the Venezuelan regime as their allies in a bloody crusade against the US. No one will talk about this in public in DC even off the record but it is a known known within the intel, military, and law enforcement establishment.

Anybody know whats become of Thad McCotter? Im reading up on how the TARP stuff transpired, and McCotter was a big voice opposing TARP. Whats he up to lately? How about Mike Pence? Thad used to be a John Batchelor (radio show) favorite, but not recently.

I find this fairly disgusting.
That was in September, when Perry was blowing up and it didn't look like there would be a successful challenger to slick, well-greased Willard.
Any newer thoughts now about that, and about why Issa may have gone for him then? More to the point, any noises out of Issa's office about supporting someone else? (Not that I think he would take his endorsement back.)
By the way, people are starting the "brokered convention"/"dark horse"/"stampede" talk. Which opens the door for a number of people: Christie, Palin, Huckabee, Daniels, Pawlenty, and others.

It was nothing more than Kabuki Theater, all participants playing their good guy, bad guy roles. And you, my dear, have summed up the essence and, unfortunately for us, the reality of Congress.
These hearings are nothing more than a show.

Or the easier explanation is that they are bought off and want the power just like the democrats. Those in the party that don't agree just get marginalized from the leadership ranks and we have seen that happen. The system is past the tipping point when it comes to keeping the corruption at bay. Now the game in D.C. is to keep the upstanding out of the power circle and away from the makers and breakers within each party. If this continues as at it is, then we will transition from the current soft tyranny to a hard and nasty one rather quickly.

Mirrors what’s been done on Obama’s non-recess recess appointment: Nothing. Is no one in Washington willing to tell Obama’s Regime they can’t do as they please?

We might as well get a class-action shrink...’cause we are all gonna need one if the guy in the White House wins again.

“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.”
Woodrow Wilson, “The New Freedom” (1913).

Anyone remember when Lyndon Larouche was saying it is impossible for the drug trade to exist without the cooperation of the banks and the government.
He was crazy right?

“Why aren’t the critics going after the last Bush administration where this whole thing began.”
From what I’ve read, it was carried out QUITE differently under GW than BHO. The guns were tracked and successful stings were made. Under Holder/BHO, there’s been no effort to track the arms - they just put them out there.
Motivations/intent between the two administrations are significant.

“Because when Bush did it he had the approval of the Mexican government”
Thanks, I forgot to put that in a previous post. But yes, those two points made the program under W significantly different than under BHO. Holder/BHO also have the Mexican govt. po’d over all this.
Since BHO’s turning all our allies and rational countries against us, wonder what he’ll next do to anger Canada.

You can put away your tin foil hats, everybody. The Repubs just want to stay in the country club and enjoy the perks of office, as the nation drops into the toilet. Tough times ahead. Very tough. Scary tough. They're only interested in saving their own sorry behinds, and gettin' theirs before it all goes under:
Free in-house gold-plated health care 24/7
Their own little gas station under the capital dome selling gas at prices far below what the rest of us pay.
Free travel and hotels, to include the wife, kiddies, and girl friend (or boy friend)
Franking privileges
Representational allowance for the wife
Get out of Jail card
Insider trading
Sweetheart deals galore
Women throwing themselves at your feet
Foreign agents lining up to fill your pocets with money
Who could possibly want to rock that boat? Certainly not the current crop of Repubs.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, but some days I take a break from FR.:)
I read it in a post from the CoachisRight blog:
John Boehner to halt Fast and Furious investigation, sell out to Eric Holder and White House
But a quick search of the internet I discovered this:
Is Boehner covering for Holder in Murdergate?
Bob Owens says he contacted Michael Steel (Boehner's spokesman) and got a canned, non-committal, non-answer answer. I also found this on Ben Barrack:
Tancredo thinks Boehner is shutting down Fast and Furious Investigation
Ben Barrack received a denial back from Issa's office when he questioned them on it:
***UPDATE*** After sending the Tancredo column to Issa's Press Secretary and asking for a response, I received the following reply:
From: "Watkins, Becca"
To: "'benbarrack@yahoo.com'"
Cc: "Hill, Frederick"
Sent: Saturday, February 11, 2012 9:39 AM
Subject: Re: Becca, What is going on here?
Ben,
Please use this on the record from me:
Leadership has been, and continues to be, supportive of oversight's investigation into operation fast and furious. There is no substance to these rumors.
I've cced me colleague above in case he has something to add.
I suspect that Issa doesn't want to ruffle Boehner's feathers so he will not complain and he won't confirm Boehner's culpability.
I guess there really aren't any men left in Congress, just a bunch of self-seeking, butt covering, politicians.

Why arent the critics going after the last Bush administration where this whole thing began.
First, as llandres and butterdezillion said, the program was very differently designed and implemented. Each purchase was monitored and each purchaser was followed. When they crossed the border, they were handed off to Mexican police. The Mexican government was fully on board with the whole investigation.
Second, when it was discovered that the Mexican Federales weren't sufficiently competent to maintain surveillance and lost track of a couple of firearms, the Bush Administration terminated the program.
The Bush program was of a much smaller scale and they only lost track of (I believe) 2 weapons before they terminated the program.
Third--and most importantly--the whole purpose of the Bush program was to track and then eliminated the illegal gun trade between America and the Mexican drug cartels. The underlying purpose of the Obama/Holder program was to discredit gun dealers and undermine support for the Second Amendment so that the Dems could then put draconian restrictions on our RTKBA.

I wrote them both. Of course, no replies. It is sad, since Dems would have had a show trial even if the guy or gal were...innocent. LOL

AND to have one more thing to falsely blame on Bush, using misinformation and propaganda that fools many as it did TiaS.

New information -- I have posted comments that Dr. Jerome Corsi at WND has claimed that it is possible that F&F used a mega bank the same way that illegal drugs seem to be using the bank.
HSBC banking giant is accused of laundering billions -- Is HSBC being used by drug cartels and terrorists -- and by governments for all kinds of shenanigans including Fast & Furious funding, passing stolen Obama stimulus money to his supporters?
Yesterday on the Barbara Simpson show (KSFO radio) Dr. Corsi said that HSBC has sued WND to get him to stop reporting using an ostensible reason that such reporting illegally exposes private account information. All account information published so far has been redacted. HSBC claims appear to be desperate acts.
Dr. Corsi's first article appears to be available but I have not located additional articles published by him. His media interviews are available on the Internet.
About said accounts. HSBC is using ID theft to set up bogus accounts to facilitate billions of dollars transfers. One victim was interviewed, whose account has seen almost one billion dollars pass through, and he had no idea that the account existed at HSBC.
What about taxes and accounts? I do not know the procedures (law) but it appears these bogus accounts were maybe cleared each day with zero balance at end of day. I am guessing.
