Riding a wave of momentum from his trio of victories on Tuesday Rick Santorum has opened up a wide lead in PPP's newest national poll. He's at 38% to 23% for Mitt Romney, 17% for Newt Gingrich, and 13% for Ron Paul.
Part of the reason for Santorum's surge is his own high level of popularity. 64% of voters see him favorably to only 22% with a negative one. But the other, and maybe more important, reason is that Republicans are significantly souring on both Romney and Gingrich. Romney's favorability is barely above water at 44/43, representing a 23 point net decline from our December national poll when he was +24 (55/31). Gingrich has fallen even further. A 44% plurality of GOP voters now hold a negative opinion of him to only 42% with a positive one. That's a 34 point drop from 2 months ago when he was at +32 (60/28).

IN, not important.
ND, not important.
DC, are you joking?
VA, yes this matters but Newt’s not getting any delegates there either. In fact, it’s possible that all the Gingrich and Santorum supporters in VA could vote for Ron Paul just to deny Romney the delegates.
OH, that still means there is 80% he can compete in.
The GOOD NEWS is that very few delegates have been decided yet and nothing is impossible with God. The ONLY way Santorum gets the nomination is if God wills it but if God wills it, nothing is impossible. We shall see whether HE chooses to step in and rescue this country from communism. That’s why we should all pray.
Time will tell if Rick is the flavor of the month. True there are Newt supporters that want a brokered convention, but realistically, Newt would never emerge from that as the choice. Rick does have momentum and is generating excitement as evidenced by the large turnout at his events. I think he can win all the way. Time will tell.
Newt wasn’t in office either, yet he was on the wrong side of the issue.
Why is he called Eddie Haskell and a whiner? Because it's appropriate.
My my, aren’t you clever. You know how to post graphics!
I wouldn’t object if you posted objections to Santorum’s voting record or other relevant issues, but no, you sling poo pretending that you are not using dishonest slime tactics.
Actually, Newt was not on the “wrong side” of the issue per se in that he said the preferable course of action would be to suspend Sarbanes Oxley and mark to market accounting required by Sarbanes. He was 100% correct on that.
Do you have any idea what I just said? Do you have any idea of what that meant? Or are you just going down a nooby voter guide with check boxes and no context.
In today’s time, she would have been arrested as child molester
Actually, Newt did support TARP and Rick wants to do away with Sarbanes Oxley. I guess you believe everyone but you is a fool or noob. HERE IS SOME FREE ADVIVE. IF YOU CAN’T COMMENT WITHOUT THROWING ARROUND INSULTS, YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO CONVINCE ANYONE OF ANYTHING EXCEPT WHAT TYPE OF A PERSON YOU ARE.
You have put forth a very incomplete and therefore somewhat inelegant and almost sophomoric description of the two candidates positions on the issue.
My main goal is to stop Romney, and Santorum appears to be the only one that can do that.

Yep, that’s my take.
See... I can argue like you. It's really easy to insult people.
Yes, and the second wife would be doing time for selling influence instead of the plea bargain and “help” Newt made sure she had.
My son, who has worked with addicts for years, said when he saw number two, “Don’t know what she’s on but she’s using” Something he saw in the eyes and speach.
I am VERY sick of the Newt people calling Santorum names. Come on. If you really want a charismatic photogenic phony, you’ve got two: Obama, and Mitt. COME ON NOW.
I hope Newt listens to you with the same attention that Santorum listened to you.
It’s way too early for that to happen. Santorum needs to show me sumpin’ more before I jump on that bandwagon.
I think Newt might still pull it out.
Here is some information to chew on. From the poll.
Santorum is now completely dominating with several key segments of the electorate, especially the most right leaning parts of the party. With those describing themselves as ‘very conservative,’ he’s now winning a majority of voters at 53% to 20% for Gingrich and 15% for Romney. Santorum gets a majority with Tea Party voters as well at 51% to 24% for Gingrich and 12% for Romney. And with Evangelicals he falls just short of a majority with 45% to 21% for Gingrich and 18% for Romney.
