Jeb Bush Could Emerge As GOP Nominee At A Brokered Convention, Says Top Republican By TOBY HARNDEN 11th February 2012

Al Cardenas, head of the American Conservative Union, has said that Republican turmoil might lead to a brokered convention in which Jeb Bush, former Florida governor, would emerge as a 'possible alternative' party nominee.

Mr Cardenas, who is running this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), a gathering in Washington of some 10,000 conservatives, told MailOnline that it was not certain that one of the four current Republican candidates would emerge victorious.

His comments came as Republicans fretted publicly about the perceived weaknesses of Mitt Romney, the establishment choice and frontrunner, Rick Santorum, surprise winner in three states on Tuesday, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul.

President Bush? Jeb Bush could emerge as the Republican candidate, according to a senior figure in the GOP

Jeb Bush, former Florida governor and younger brother of President George W. Bush, has repeatedly said he will not run in 2012. He is one of a number of senior figures who disappointed activists and party officials alike by staying on the sidelines.

'We'll know more in the next few weeks,' said Mr Cardenas. 'The pressure’s already been on Mitt Romney to close the sale... and he hasn’t.' A split verdict on 'Super Tuesday' on March 6th, when 10 states vote, could lead to a surprise at the Republican convention in Tampa in August, he suggested.

Jeb Bush is just another big time RINO. And let’s not forget he let Terri Schivo die. Her death is on him.

Stay out of the Bushes - The RINOs think Mitt is in trouble so they're turning their lonely eyes to Jebster cause Joltin' Joe has passed on.

This is nonsense. As the sitting president GWB was unwelcome at the 2008 convention -— now we’re supposed to believe we’re planning to beg his brother to run?!

Background noise, nothing more.

If another Bush emerges from a brokered GOP convention, that should be the end of the GOP and a new party should be started from scratch.

You are both looking for the worst case...I was trying to say he was a good Governor here and he followed one of our worst!

I did not mention RINO or his lackluster father, both which may be your opinion.

My opinion is that he is NOT a valid candidate.

Do you realize that Al Cardenas, who is floating this idea, is an old “Florida Politician” looking for a star to grab...to help only himself?

All it proves is that Al Cardenas is stupid.

Or just a suck up to his good friend Jeb Bush.

You are right, but consider this:

At the time of the Schivo fiasco I was at a local dinner party. I was the ONLY person who felt she should be allowed to live. That’s right, my neighbors and friends, mostly Republican, said she was not valuable to anyone. Compassion and suffering were buzz words, never family’s right, to the decision.

This week the discussions of Obama care and abortion so deteriated that I left a luncheon. I was about to explode at OLD people saying...”Keep your hands off our bodies”. “A woman’s right to choose” etc.

Florida has so many people on government programs I fear it is lost. When personal needs(?) surpass personal integrity we are all lost!

I did predict Jeb Bush getting drafted ~3 years ago. What's truly pathetic is that next to the 4 “studs” running now, Jeb, IMO, looks better than all of them*.

*I really like Newt, but am realistic and understand and accept he will never win a national election.
