While billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson may have rescued Newt Gingrichs campaign in its early days, today, he may have just buried it.
Bloomberg News reports that Adelson, who has donated $11 million to Gingrichs Super PAC, does not plan to send any more money Gingrichs way. Bloomberg is citing an anonymous source familiar with their deliberations, though an Adelson spokesman declined to comment.
The move seems to be weeks in the making. After poor showings by Gingrich in the last several races and the re-resurgence of Rick Santorum, the former House speaker has once again been pushed to the back of the Republican field. And Adelson may be shifting his focus. According to CNN, Adelson met with Mitt Romney in Nevada last week and assured Romney that he will be behind him 100 percent should he become the nominee.
What may be more alarming though is as money seems to be flooding out of the Gingrich camp, it appears to be heading into to Santorums, no doubt helped by his three-state sweep Tuesday.

Given that the money you speak of was disbursed over 10 years, perhaps it would be better described as rent than sale -- not theft.
You know, like earning a living.
Cheers!
Remember the 2008 campaign where before virtually *every* early state, a rumor (attributed to "reliable sources close to the campaign") would appear on Pollutico that unless Fred Thompson finished first or second, he was going to drop out?
Or the lies and rumors about Palin from the McCain campaign?
All from the vile Mormon Obaama-light (in political views as well as narcissistic appearance) Romney.
Cheers!
So the timing *wasn't* obvious, as you had claimed. /sarc>
BTW, by your logic, is Tom Delay innocent? He was convicted at trial in a court of law, right?
Cheers!
Is this really surprising? The whole Republican primary has been a game of ABMR/ABBO musical chairs:First Bachmann, then Perry, Cain, Newt (who most on FR ruled out early on last year) and now maybe RS gets his turn.
RS has a big plus now, he is not Romney or Newt. In comparison to them he looks like a pillar of consistent values, agree with them or not. Newt's sore loser speech after the FLA loss was a flag that many Republicans voters saw and will remember. That is the real Newt.
It’s sourced from Bloomberg News— FR just can’t accept Bloomberg News submissions.
Newt explained he wasn’t for sale?
Bwahaha!!!
(And I think Newt’s the best of the candidates we have.)
Amen.
The media always portrays Gingrich ginger honest mistakes as a disaster and something to make fun of, and portrays Romney/Obama horrible perverted error policies backed by arrogance and force as praiseworthy.
The media is a piece of excrementalizing arrogance, a ridiculous loud disgusting farter which will fall very hard very soon when all its pretenders and this economy will screw up, them and all these incompetent lawyers and word players of propaganda.
Too big to fail? Sorry, fail is fail. Time to detach from failure and let the world of knanivers fail.
Donors more fickle than voters.

Alarming for whom? Sounds good to me. At least it’s not going to RINO-Rom.

That's insulting to genuine conservatives everywhere, not that you know any.
Good riddance. There are some you just know have a future of ozone fumes.
I won’t cry too many tears.
Minn was a known blogpimp apologist.
Probably someone from the Romney campaign. Newt said they would do thing like this.
I read about Newt tearing things up at Cpac. And then this article about him out of money.
Then another article about Romney poised to scorch the earth again on Super Tuesday, only this time does he scorch both Santorum and Newt? Don’t think so.
I think Newt is in a good position. My bigger concern is that his campaign may be getting subverted from within.
Santorum’s lead will not last. Try to like the guy... It doesn’t work. You can’t force yourself to do it. The guy doesn’t cut it with us here.

Keep digging, troll.

“But I can tell you this, its the Ron Paul supporters who Ive always come across foaming at the keyboards when Congressman Paul is critized on anything.”
And they should be chastised for it. I think you’ll find that the closer you get to the actual campaign, the less that sort of behavior is tolerated. And I have seen lots of folks called out for their comments. Fervently supporting your candidate is one thing, being a jerk is quite another.
It’s kind of ironic, but for a campaign that is so liberty based the people who are officially associated with the RP campaign are on a very tight leash. However, NO campaign has much control over it’s “supporters” who are not officially with the campaign. And I use “supporters” in quotes, because there are a lot of false flag “supporters” out there claiming to “support” various candidates. They may or may not be supporters in actuality.
For example, I could set up an identity on a blog as “Another aryan for Newt” and discuss how Newt Gingrich will be the candidate who will “best suppress the international Jewish conspiracy.” Or some such hateful rot. Clearly that would be an inflammatory comment, and clearly malicious and damaging. Someone reading those comments would have no idea if I were actually a supporter of Newt Gingrich or not. And there’s not a darn thing the Gingrich campaign could do about it other than denounce my comments.
No campaign has the time or resources to police the comments of every person who claims to be a “supporter.”
