WASHINGTON, February 10, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The White House announced today that, instead of forcing religious employers to pay for birth control, it will force insurance companies to offer the drugs free of charge to all women, no matter where they work.
The plan, touted as a concession to freedom of religion and conscience, was immediately denounced by pro-life Rep. Chris Smith. The so-called new policy is the discredited old policy, dressed up to look like something else,. said Smith. .It remains a serious violation of religious freedom. Only the most naï or gullible would accept this as a change in policy.
The White House Fact Sheet is riddled with doublespeak and contradiction, Smith continued. It states, for example, that religious employers will not have to pay for abortion pills, sterilization and contraception, but their insurance companies will. Who pays for the insurance policy? The religious employer.
I am even angrier now than when he first announced it.
The extreme degree of cynicism plus the fact that he really thinks we are this stupid.
He will not ever understand.
This isn’t about anything but freedom.
The right of life comes before the pursuit of happiness
The Federal Government is wildly out of control.
What can be done to stop it?

Because liberals think money grows on trees, this seems logical. Conservatives know better and can recognize that this is merely a lousy type of Ponzi scheme - robbing from Peter to pay Paul.
Woo Hoo! Rebellion is brewing!!!
I just absolutely love how he stirred up a highly controversial issue in the middle of a presidential election cycle. And they keep saying how smart he is.
Heh.
As a Catholic and a defense attorney who used to (until my stroke in 1991) do some work for a Catholic liability insurance company, there may be a small problem with obama’s compromise, er... accommodation. Does the Church have a medical insurance company of its own ? There is no way that a Catholic medical insurance company would pay for an abortion.
I heard a stat this past week: 50% of abortions are performed on women who were contraceptive-users. Where does that put the insurance companies who’re paying for free contraceptive coverage? I don’t know how long after conception a morning-after pill works, but at some point, surgical abortion’s got to enter the picture. Where does it put the pharmaceutical companies making the pill, or IUD, or whatever if the coverage doesn’t extend to the ultimate birth-control method? Do they get sued? Are they automatically responsible for the additional “free” service to women? Who pays for the lapses in contraceptive effectiveness, and why wouldn’t this fact affect the risk/cost of participating insurance companies?
Is it time to lock and load?
Just asking.......
0 is acting stupidly...
“Rebellion is brewing!!!”
Where do I enlist ?
"what about Catholic health insurance companies ? (There are some.)
How is this a good 'compromise' when it changes nothing for them ?
.
We have nothing in Washington to stop it. The Republicans there are totally committed to maintaining this dictatorship, hence no impeachment. America is now in control of King Obama, the communists black Muslim dictator.
What we have is something worse than the original issue. If Obama does this, providing the funding and requiring insurers to offer these “services,” essentially we are seeing the start of a government funded, indirectly (at the moment) government administered population control program. It may be operated through Planned Parenthood or some other group, but what it amounts to is the government forcing everyone to participate in the government-run population control plan.
He’s going to use this technique for everything. Euthanasia will be handled this way too, as a “service” that will be paid for by everybody although not as a specific item.
He’s crafty. This is a stunning power grab.
There is nothing about this jerk that isn’t clownish and incompetent.
Agree!
Something else bothers me here. 99% of women use birth control? I didn’t mind it too much hearing it from brainless news commentators, but hearing it from Sebilius really blew my mind. 98% was the percentage applied to Catholic women. Where does she get these figures? They’re insane, unqualified. But it does bolster the claim that 50% of abortions are performed on women who are current users of some form of birth-control. If that many women are on the pill (or whatever), nearly ALL abortions are performed on women using some form of contraceptive. So what conceivable good are the so-called contraceptives? And how in hell do they promote women’s (forget the aborted baby, for a moment) health?
