Sen. John McCain says the United States should find ways to help the Syrian people under siege from President Bashar Assad, without putting American "boots on the ground."
McCain tells "CBS This Morning" there are several options available, ranging from medical care and technical assistance to safe havens for refugees of the violence.

Let’s send McCain to Syria.
I’m sure they’d be willing to receive his assistance.
I seem to recall that as recently as a year ago Hillary was all in for supporting Assad and Syria. How’d that work out for ya, Hill?
This calls for a FUJM, and a FUBO for good measure.
Whatever John McCain is for, I’m against.
Good call.
If Ace is for it, I’m against it.
“Maverick” Republicans are only useful to the enemy.
John McCain is right on this one. big time.
Time to mind our own business and let the Syrian’s solve their own problems. We are on life support with a pending electricity failure
and we better look inward first IMHO.
Why would we want to help either side? Is the opposition any better than Assad?
Good idea, John. I am sure you can still find a flight suit to fit you and you can lead the way. You and Lindsay can show us how it is done.
Freaking A**hole, let these people kill each other. That way they aren’t busy trying to kill us!
I don’t think so. Look at the other arab revolutions lately, the replacements aren’t an improvement.
Well, lead the charge, man. Up front and out front, where the troops can see you.

Agree!
John McCain should head up an effort to take a vote in Congress as to who is in favor of providing military support to Syria. Then, all of those in favor, should volunteer to become the Command Element for the rebel forces and depart immediately for Syria.
Furthermore, I’m in favor of those chicken-s...t Saudis taking some corrective action in their own freaking region.
Thanks, Senator Loser McSell-out
I’m of Syrian extraction, and yet I don’t know what to make of the situation there. Most of my friends who came from Syria are Assad supporters, since he is a protector of religious minorities such as the Christians (like the majority of my friends and all of my family from Syria).
In fact, I read a story recently confirming that the Christians in Syria are supporting Assad against the “rebels.” I still don’t know from media reports if the “rebels” are largely Muslim radicals like the ones Assad’s father slaughtered in the famous suppression of the rebellion in Hama, or a coalition of other groups including Communists, which have traditionally had a foothold in Syria.
Based on what? Why now? Civilians being killed by their Govt.? Do you think for one minute that our PINO wouldn’t give the same order to keep control if the Patriots actually took to the streets to bring down his illegitimate evil regime? Assad is like Saddam - he is trying to keep control of his country - no “democracy” will come out of any of this. Nope - we don’t need to be involved - when will we learn???
Israel still uses A-4’s for training purposes. Maybe we can make a special request for one of them to be kitted out with the relevant ordnance so John can personally provide air support for the Syrian rebels. And just because he’s a sitting US Senator, maybe we can arrange for a carrier-based CSAR team to rescue him in case he has to eject from yet another A-4.
Look at Egypt, the Christians are now in peril
According to Barry Rubin at the Rubin Report, the civilian leaders of the opposition organized by the Turks and endorsed by Obama are overwhelmingly Islamists.
