Down in South America there is some sort of TINY fish/worm/bacteria that crawls in through your urinary tract (!), then grows inside of you.

If there is that kind of stuff in the “modern” world, God knows what might be in a lake that has been closed off for so long. I’m sort of on the serious side. It may be aliens in the form of some weird bacteria. Let’s hope if it is is just likes water and doesn’t go airborne. (Hmmm - I’m just thinking of a mayfly hatch and how nasty the windshield gets when you drive through one).

"the article's estimate of -90°C is pretty close."

Minus 90C= minus 130F.

I heard a report about this last night. The Russians are going to use a thermal lance for the last part, so as to not contaminate the lake. They then expect the pressure to push water up the borehole where they say it will freeze. Next year, they’re going to drill out that frozen borehole so that they don’t contaminate the lake with direct sampling. Sounds pretty reasonable (if all those incidents of other Russian engineering failures quit nagging the back of my mind).

They have broken through to the “Lost World”, a tropical paradise heated by the Earth’s molten core and populated by Ancient Astronauts.

Maybe they just found more cases of scotch left behind by the 1907-09 Shackleton Expedition.

The axis of rotation of the earth currently has the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun. Therefore we have winter. The Southern Hemisphere is tilted toward the sun. Therefore, Antarctica is having its summer.

It is a candiru. A kind of 2 inch long Amazon catfish.

It is attacking idiots who are urinating into river. They are normally parasiting in other fishes’ breathing organs but human pee producing similar chemical elements and they are crawling to your urethra. It must be extremely painful as it has hips on their lips to drink your blood from inside like a tick. In an hour or so it drinks enough blood to grow twice of original size.
Getting one sometimes treated with amputating a penis for men, for women it is absolute fatal if there is no immediate access to medical help.

Yes, but 6 weeks is half a season. That isn’t what people normally consider “imminent”. And the article mentions “next Tuesday” which is still midsummer.

"A giant sink hole opened up on Thursday, September 19 [1975] at a drilling site near Tampa, Florida and swallowed up a well-drilling rig, a water truck, and a trailer loaded with pipe all valued at $100,000. The well being drilled was down 200 ft when the ground began to give way to what turned out to be a limestone cavern. Within 10 minutes all the equipment was buried way out of sight in a crater measuring 300 ft deep, and 300 ft wide. Fortunately, the drilling crew had time to scramble to safety and no one was hurt." -from National Water Well Association newsletter

That’s nothing. Do a search on Lake Peigneur and the drilling disaster. They accidentally drilled into a salt mine. They had barges sucking down the hole and blowing out of the shaft of the salt mine on shore.

I remember magazines back in the 1960s with adds for books “proving” the Hollow Earth theory.

What do you bet it's a "mushroom cut, and he just wets it, combs it all forward, and lets it dry. On the other hand, he does have a nice complexion...
