Santorum Unlikely To Make Indiana Ballot
Buzzfeed ^ | Feb 3, 2012 at 2:21pm EST | Rosie Gray

Rick Santorum is on the verge of being left off the ballot in the the Indiana primary, three sources told BuzzFeed Friday.

The former Pennsylvania senator is more than 30 signatures short of the 500 needed in the 7th Congressional district, which includes Marion County, where Indianapolis is located, a source close to the Santorum campaign said.

The Marion County chief deputy of voter registration on the Democratic side, Scott Carr, confirmed that Santorum had not submitted 500 valid signatures. An Indiana Republican source said Santorum is "a couple dozen" signatures short, but that Newt Gingrich will be on the ballot.

The Indiana Primary won't be held until May 8, and is unlikely to be decisive in any event, but Santorum's shortfall cuts against some of his supporters hopes that he will rise as Newt Gingrich falls to provide a final challenger to Mitt Romney.

This is a primary, you go up the food chain. That is what has happened so far. Santorum is trying, rightfully so, to position himself against Romney.

Newt would do the same if the roles were reversed.

He is the only one since Bachmann and Perry to go after Romney on Romneycare. He scored big on that one. He could because he never supported mandates as Newt has.

As far as this ballot thing. Both Newt and Rick have far fewer bucks and lesser ground games. This is what happens when you don’t have a big machine.

This is also what happens when you aren’t flush with cash.

When the gop is in control of redistricting, we will often put all the blacks in one district so while the democrats win that one, they lose almost all the rest.

I don’t know the IN-7 district, but if it includes Gary Indiana, that could be one scary district to try to collect signatures.

Almost all of Marion County is in the IN-07, but the areas in other CDs are overwhelmingly Republican (as opposed to the heavily Democrat IN-07) and thus more likely to have people who would sign ballot petitions for Santorum.

Gingrich's plan, from the start, was to get all of the real conservatives out of the race and let the people be stuck with a choice between him and his "baggage" and Romney. So far it has worked against everyone except Santorum. If he gets Santorum out too, conservatives will be left with little choice, another 2008.It will be determined if enough conservatives, especially conservative women, will again "hold their nose" and pull the lever for the Republican candidate regardless.

Oh the hell he is! I get so sick of this morinic complaint!! He's CAMPAIGNING FOR HIMSELF! Why isnb't Gingrich helping Romney? Why does newt have more of a right to run than Santorum? Short answer: He doesn't!

Interesting that he can affords adds to bombard Newt but can’t afford to get on the ballot in certain states. His candidacy is surely a mystery the way it is being run. Looks to me as if he is just playing the spoiler role.

I can understand missing a filing or something like that, but why cut the number so close when it is such a small number? Man, 500 is not much...IN folks must not like Rick too much.

Kind of like they don't like Newt much in MO, where he won't be on the ballot.

Newt isn’t campaigning against Santorum. Newt knows who the enemies are: Romney and barack.

Only thing, Newt didn’t even try to get on the ballot in MO, he bypassed it willingly because his campaign considered it a cosmetic race only, whatever that means. Rick wanted, and tried to get on the ballot in IN, there’s a big difference. Has Sanctimonium, or his supporters, ever made any intellectually honest statements?

I’ve asked this before and pointed this out

I’ve pointed out now to a number of Santorum people how can a man who has lost 3 states in a row,
not won one voter group
not won one county on those 3 states
is last in the polls in this 4th state
Very little money to spend but spends it on attacking the man in second place
Now he states God told him to run.

and still some cannot see what is going on and still are defending this attack and attacking Newt

What ever happened to America that some still cannot see what is going on here and it is right in front of them.

Has he been “talked” to? Thirty signatures is too close to just walk away. I know the powers that be in the RinoNC are just a crooked and sleezy as the DNC but it seems they want to lose the country just as quickly as Soros does.

er I’ll have a crack at this

Santorum has lost the last 3 states
he has not won even one county ion those last 3 states
He has not won any voting block
He is last right now in NV
He has very little money but uses that money to attack the guy in 2nd place.

Now have you or anyone ever seen a candidate in last position attack a candidate in 2nd?
No so surely one has to ask what the hell is he doing in the race when he is last not even winning any counties let alone states and is attacking a guy in second place.

Come on even the most ardent supporter must ask why is he not doing AD’s against the guy in first place.

don’;t you think it is bizarre that in last position you attack not the front runner but the guy in second.

Surely you see something is going on here and while he states God told him to run thee has to be more to this behind the scenes.

gingrich is a progressive with some conservative principles... so is your boy santorum... who by the way... along with Michale Steele... when co-hosting for Bill Bennett's Morning in America radio show in February 2009... was the first to state that, “The era of Reagan is over” and then both stated that, “with the past election, we have seen that the electorate has moved more to the left and we as a party must become more diverse and move in the direction of the electorate”. Santorum is a Social Conservative but a “Conservative” that is dedicated to our ideology... he is not. Neither is newt.

The first thing we must do is quit lying to ourselves. We have two bad choices... santorum and newt. Which has the best chance to beat obama? romney is not even a possibility... he may win the nomination... but he will lose to obama and he is a baby killing commie.

I think maybe Rick should check in again with the Lord on this. I believe he is a Christian, but by staying in this race he is assisting a non Christian Church that wants to overthrow our government to put their brainwashed Bishop (who will follow their orders) in charge of the entire Executive Branch of our government. Somehow, I don’t think God is calling Rick to do that.

Rick Santorum should've hired Obama to get those signatures...

Indiana 2008 Presidential Primary Election Fraud Probe Heats Up

Ex-Indiana Democratic Governor: Not My Signature on Obama Petition

(Most underreported story of 2011.)

It's no wonder Rick Santorum doesn't do well in this district. It's represented by a Muslim Congressman, and went more than 70% for Obama in 2008. Not like they're gonna sign a petition for a conservative candidate!
