I grew up as a service brat. I also have a special needs kid. Seeing that girl’s joy in her father’s arms, and then learning of her condition and of his time on the road pushes a number of my buttons.
There is ZERO comparison between leaving a family for sworn military duty, and voluntarily leaving a family for career aggrandizement. Voluntarily leaving a family with a special needs child for purposes of career aggrandizement . . .
Santorum is an underwhelming . . . person.
I will leave it at that.
Which probably explains why santorum endorsed Romney last time out. Little Ricky obviously thinks "conservative" mean "spending other peoples' money on causes you think are for their own good."
Stalking horse for Mittens.
I’ll have to investgate.
So...were you opposed to Palin running for VP in '08?
Apples and oranges! Trisomy 18 will kill Bella. Downs is not a killer. Very few children with Trisomy 18 live to be teenagers.
See...I love the near-liberal double standard on display around here. We are told that Newt has repented and sought redemption. We are to accept that without question, and only Newt can truly know what's in his heart.
Yet, everybody just knows for sure and for certain what truly motivates Rick, and whatever it is, it's all bad, greedy, selfish, etc.
OK then. If Trig had Trisomy 18 would you have advocated as fervently against Sarah's run as you are against Rick's?
Rick is utterly delusional if he thinks he will ever win the nomination.
Santorum responding to a question:
.
Trig isn't dying. Bella will. You can't dress that up.
Agreed. Santorum is betting his entire political career on this stunt. He should have stepped down with grace and charm as gentleman, the way Perry did.
Mark Levin explained this - he also came out, last minute, for Mitt. According to Levin, at that point when it was just McLame and Romney, Romney was more conservative than McLame.
Also defined as a hypothetical you'd simply rather not answer. Gotcha.
"I don't think she'd run. And wasn't it YOU that pointed out that Palin DIDN'T run because of family? Hm?"
Now who's talking about apples and oranges? I pointed out that Sarah declined to run in '12, at least in part because of her cares and concerns for her family...and was criticized by many here for not putting her patriotic duty above her family. The fact of the matter is, she did run (for VP) in '08 in spite of having a newly born special needs chile. Which time was she right and which time was she wrong?
"Trig isn't dying. Bella will. You can't dress that up."
And I would suspect nobody is more painfully aware of that than Rick and his wife. It's pretty damned vain of you to presume you are more concerned about that child's needs and well being more than her own father. I would imagine they've thought about, prayed upon and come to the conclusions they have, and neither you or I have been privy to any of that. I, consistent with what most conservatives argue, am happy to let them make their own decisions and pursue what they feel is best. You on the other hand, clearly without knowledge of all the family dynamics, discussions, tears, prayers etc. feel you know what's best for them and what they should do.
Ummm... Bachmann has endorsed no one. Both Cain and Perry have endorsed Gingrich.
In post #17 he stated: "Bachmann was in it to help Romney. Cain was in it to help Romney. Perry was in it to help Romney. Newt-Nuts are as big a whiners as their hero."
Bachmann has not endorsed nor helped anyone. She just dropped out.
Both Cain and Perry have endorsed Gingrich.
I most certainly DID answer. I stated: "I don't think she'd run. And wasn't it YOU that pointed out that Palin DIDN'T run because of family? Hm?"
Now who's talking about apples and oranges?
You're not very good at this, are ya.
Palin DIDN'T run because of her children.
Santorum IS running despite having a child that will NOT live long.
You can try and twist that all you like. It is what it is. The dude is a skunk!
Me too.
The people who are criticizing Santorum for not quitting the race to take care of his daughter, don’t really mean it. They are just afraid that Santorum will win a sympathy vote for his devotion to his daughter. It’s best just to ignore them.
