Newt needs to win a simple majority, 1144, of the 2286 delegates. TX, NC, OH, AK, and GA constitutes 406. He took IA with 4 and SC with 23 for a total of 27. That makes for 433 he’ll have for all of those states which is about 38% of the total delegates needed to win.

How many other states does he have a good chance of winning at this point so far?

Thanks Titans. Was getting pretty discouraged there. It is going to be tough with Newt getting smeared from all sides, but you are giving me some hope. I’m haven’t been totally rah-rah Newt and wasn’t particularly anti-Romney even though I didn’t want him to get the top spot, but he has completely turned me off with his smear apparatus. He is a cocky a$$#*0@. Pre Tea Party I could hold my nose and vote for McCain. I don’t know that I can do it any more. This has made me want to tune all this out.

Thanks TitansAFC, your post is a big pick me up. I am donating to Newt on Wednesday. I am confident that Mitt has seen his best days on the campaign trail.

Conservatives will battle on and crush Mitt!!

Thanks for this little speech so much. Next to Newt’s speech tonight, this was the single most encouraging thing I have read... I worked so hard for Newt in Florida, but I can honestly say, I don’t feel bad tonight. I don’t feel excellent but I don’t feel bad either. I had a bunch of newters over to watch the returns, and was worried I would start crying... but Newt was really noble and inspiring tonight...

Thank you very much for the optimism. Prepare for the GOP-E and so-called conservative pundits to declare the race over. I’m sure Mitt Romney would love that to be true, but I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I want my chance to vote against Mitt. I don’t like liberal Democrats, so why in the world would I ever support a liberal Republican, aka Mitt Romney? So far his entire campaign has been about other candidates, because his own record is pure political poison.

I hate to say it, although I've lived here all my life and consider myself a "Southerner," that Florida really ISN'T a "Southern State." Even though we had the only capital city never captured by the Union Army in the recent unpleasantness, aka the war of Northern aggression, aka the War Between the States.

Florida is not part of the south. It is an extension of New York. The “natives” have been overtaken by northern retirees.
