AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do—that’s host. Get ready to what you were born to do—that’s listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

No one is untouchable in this world these days; unless they've never done anything wrong, immoral or illegal. Rush has a drug history; who knows what else he may have done that some well financed PI could have turned up. I have no idea to what, or how Rush might be vulnerable w/regard to outside pressure; but, he admitted the Romney pressure has been applied and his behavior and the content of his show has definitely changed w/regard to Newt vs. Romney.

How many NEW negative things did you hear about Newt today??? (Numerous long screeds; one of which Rush took a few moments to apparently retract about half an hour ago; but the damage was already done and will be repeated ad infinitum.) How many negative things did you hear about Romney (I recall only 2 and they were brief comments and old news.) This is a pattern and it is happening throughout the media and talk radio. If you cannot see it; I cannot make it any clearer for you.

FReegards,

-Geoff

Newt, in that video, WAS NOT dismissing the past. He did not dismiss the Reagan Revolution.

Just remember, in six short years later, Newt and co. engineered the take over of the House of Representatives. That wouldn’t happen if they weren’t looking forward and spent their time living in the past. Same principles of Reaganism were involved but the times and issues were different. Clinton did not equal Carter.

instead of speculating about rush’s motivations, your time would be better spent refuting the attacks on noot - if you can

hinting that rush might have raped a baby in his past does not refute facts about nootz flaws

“I can’t help but wonder if the Establishment gets their way and we end up with Romney, and he gets clobbered by Obama in November, what will they say then? Will they admit they were wrong? Or will they just try to blame the Tea Party?”

They blamed Conservatives when McCain lost ...don't you remember??? ...and most of us (myself included) held our noses and dutifully voted for him ...mostly because of Gov Palin in my case. They will blame us again when Romney loses.

Seems to me that as mercurial and inconsistent as Gingrich is known to be, he's got some real competition lately in Rush Limbaugh.

Rush is turning out to be that harmless fuzzball he says he is: he cannot bring himself to be consistent in his battle against anti-conservatism when it comes to Romney.

And yes, if God Forbid Romney gets the nomination and loses to Obama, they will most certainly blame us, like they did for McCain's loss four years ago. And like you, I actually voted for McCain because of Palin, so I didn't fall within the purview of the blameable.

However, if God Forbid Romney gets the nomination, my vote will go elsewhere because THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WILL HAVE LEFT ME. And if, GOD FORBID Romney actually got the White House, they would NEVER accept the blame for all the leftist crap that Romney would certainly bring about, in a context where what few limited government Republicans remained, could fight against. Romney would make conservatism within the GOP impotent; Obama could only make conservatism in the GOP more determined and powerful than ever. It's LOGIC.

Romney must lose. If Rush (as I read here) really did ask, "Why do people hate him so much?" then I can only conclude that Rush has been insincere in every word he's ever written and uttered about conservatism.

GODSPEED NEWT GINGRICH.

"I like the Noot people. I have several friends who are Noot people...", etc. etc.

A simple question for you, IMPR:

Why do you spell it "Noot" instead of "Newt"?

I look forward to your honest answer.

Yes, but we’ve always had less than perfect candidates. When the time comes we have to elect the best we have. I think the expectation that we would get a perfect pure conservative this time was overplayed in the first place.

So many things are out of our control . . . and the people who are investing so much in any one person or candidate are set up for disappointment. Like you, I’m guessing, whoever it is will be far better than what we have. I pray we can at least make that happen.

It’s funny that shortly before the South Carolina primary, I told my mother I could hold my nose and vote for Romney. That was before I did my research on the guy. Then I discovered his overt pro-abortion-ism (not just pro-choice-ism, but all out pro-abortion), his hatred of the Second Amendment, and the fact that he not only created ObamaCare in Massachusetts, but his people went to Washington to help Obama put it on a national scale....

Preach it Brother FReeper (or Sister FReeper, as the case may be). Romney wholly rejects conservatism, and always has.

And so-called "conservatives" are mystified as to why so many of us on the Right wholly reject Romney.

Begging your pardon; but, I don't believe I speculated anything about Rush. Others did. I stated Rush admitted today he was pressured recently by Romney to give more favorable coverage to him. Recently, Rush's show has changed to a more favorable Romney stance and anti-Newt stance. I gave a general comparison as to the number of negative comments for each.

Rush is under pressure; and, unless he is a messiah he is vulnerable to outside pressure from someone w/Romney's organization and means. Rush has a documented drug abuse history in his past; therefore, he is not a messiah.

I like Rush and enjoy his commentary and humor; but, I think he is being pressured to modify his previous Conservative philosophy. He has stated in the past month that Romney is a moderate. So, I am now supposed to have to defend against the new meme that Newt is less Conservative than Romney???

I concur.

I believe I heard Rush say that some of his friends asked him why do Conservatives hate Romney. I don't recall Rush asking that himself. (For the record, I don't hate Romney; I just don't believe he is a Conservative and don't want to vote for him. He is fully entitled to his legally earned money and his legal tax breaks; as is everyone else.)

I like Rush; I'm just very disappointed in him at this point.

I can't vote for Romney and I feel Santorum’s previous stance against Right to Work and his explanation of that vote is unprincipled. He basically said he voted against it to please union members in PA; therefore, he is a populist at best; not a Conservative. (VA is a “right to work state” (commonwealth); so, that is an extremely important issue to me.) I am also troubled by his apparent support for SOPA.

When I turned on Rush he had started the second hour. From 5 minutes after the hour and for the next 10 minutes, he dredged up every negative thing he could about Newt in rapid-fire succession. It was a vicious and awful bill of particulars artfully wrapped up in a velvet glove.

Rush's audience is conservative....and nobody's kidding me, his diatribe was designed to alienate Newt's base which was listening.

His research team must be working overtime to find every bit of minutia about Gingrich, no matter how old or obscure......and to throw it out over the air waves.

Romney gets nowhere near such treatment.

I turned him off right away.....and I'm a listener for 22 years. I agree with him 96.5 percent of the time....., but after listening to him this week I've come to the conclusion he's got an agenda.....and it ain't mine..

Its sad that some people are incapable of reading and wrongly attribute comments and positions held by others to me. Even sadder are others who borrow from those wrongly assigned comments and positions. One of the reasons I use ITALICS is to differentiate between comments made by others from comments that I made. Still, some seem incapable of reading.

” there is still an alternative (Santorum)”

Santorum would not hold up to this scrutiny any better. In fact, I think he would do worse. The media is giving him a pass because he his taking votes away from Newt, thereby helping Romney.

I believe I heard Rush say that some of his friends asked him why do Conservatives hate Romney. I don't recall Rush asking that himself.

*whew* THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for that reassurance. I am SO GLAD to hear that the post I read saying Rush had asked that was in error (either that, or I misread the post!). I only heard about an hour's worth of Rush's show today, and in the beginning, I was so proud of him because he was talking about how back in the Reagan days, Newt was doing all the things we WISH our Republicans in Congress would do know, and would have done in Dubya's time.

I had to leave the radio and tune in later, and it was .. well, it sounded like Rush was joyously embracing the state of not knowing his ass from a jackrabbit when it came to the legitimacy of attacks against Newt. It was disappointing.

Of course neither you nor I nor 90 percent of we conservatives who reject Rommey "hate" Romney. That word's appearance is a symptom of emotion overriding logic in arguing a point.

Thanks again for your kind reply. I am also leery of Santorum, but would vote for him every day and twice on Sunday against Romney. However, I think that people are fooling themselves if they think Santorum wouldn't get creamed by the liberal MSM and Obama or -- as may happen -- Hillary.

It's STILL up in the air, there's STILL a very real possiblity, that someone other than Obama may be who our guy runs against, and at this point, the most likely alternative would be Hillary.

A battle between Newt and Hillary would be Popcorn Time for America, and I believe Newt would win and it would be a wonderful battle to witness.

In a battle between Santorum and Hillary, Santorum would look like Wiley Coyote after a particularly nasty adventure with the latest Acme gadget. Hillary would pulverize Santorum, and he'd end up saying "Thank you, ma'm" at the end of it.

Republicans REALLY ought to be thinking in those terms, especially considering what happend in 2007-08, when the Battle Call was: "Anybody but Hillary!" Well, we got our wish.

What I found most disturbing is Rush’s contention that at the end of the day the party will coalesce around the nominee. I’m not so sure that will happen. I can easily see grass roots voting the heck out of the bottom of the ticket to try and get back control of Congress and skipping the top two boxes.
