RE-ELECT OBAMA: VOTE NEWT!
January 25, 2012To talk with Gingrich supporters is to enter a world where words have no meaning. They denounce Mitt Romney as a candidate being pushed on them by "the Establishment" -- with "the Establishment" defined as anyone who supports Romney or doesn't support Newt.
Gingrich may have spent his entire life in Washington and be so much of an insider that, as Jon Stewart says, "when Washington gets its prostate checked, it tickles [Newt]," but he is deemed the rebellious outsider challenging "the Establishment" -- because, again, "the Establishment" is anyone who opposes Newt.
This is the sort of circular reasoning one normally associates with Democrats, people whom small-town pharmacists refer to as "drug seekers" and Ron Paul supporters.
Newtons claim Romney is a "moderate," and Gingrich the true conservative -- a feat that can be accomplished only by refusing to believe anything Romney says ... and also refusing to believe anything Gingrich says.
-- Romney's one great "flip-flop" is on abortion. (I thought the reason we argued with people about abortion was to try to get them to "flip-flop" on this issue. Sometimes it works!)
Nearly two decades ago, when Romney was trying to defeat champion desecrator of life Sen. Teddy Kennedy, he sought to remove abortion as a campaign issue by declaring that he, too, supported Roe v. Wade.
(Nonetheless, Kennedy ran a campaign commercial against him featuring a Mormon woman complaining that Romney, as a Mormon elder, had pressured her not to have an abortion, but to give the child up for adoption. Are you getting the idea that Massachusetts is different from the rest of America, readers?)
Romney changed his mind on abortion -- not when it was politically advantageous, but when it mattered. As governor of liberal, pro-choice Massachusetts, he vetoed an embryonic stem cell bill and "worked closely" with Massachusetts Citizens for Life. The president of MCL recently issued a statement saying that, "since being elected governor, Mitt Romney has had a consistent commitment to the culture of life." Read More »
If we nominate Newt we lose to Obama and if we nominate Mitt we lose to Obama. She’s just a joy isn’t she?
We, however, wont.
“I wish she would make up her mind! “
She used to be mildly amusing, but now sounds like fingernails on a chalk board.
it took 33 posts and the owner to finally list something in rebuttal. Has this site only become flame throwers now ? If someone lists/ticks off a bevy of examples or reasons to support someone i always thought it was best to refute them with facts.
now I think Ann is wrong but to call her names and such and go to the lowest common denominator seems kind of callous.
Jim has chosen to go all in on Newt, I respect his opinion but I am not there yet regarding Newt , my hope is less mud throwing and more intelligent defense of positions.
I have a great crush on Ann, but she is dead wrong on this one!!
Romney is an unknown and I don’t think we can be certain what he will do if he gets the nomination and beats zero (which I don’t think he can do - he’s too vulnerable).
Ann’s hormones are again working overtime , as they were when
she wrote an encomium to JFK, Jr. and his magazine GEORGE, where he apparently offered her something of a home.
Ann is not to be trusted in this area.
Her arguments amount to nothing.
Serious question, how is he going to pay for the huge build up of the Space Program that such a mission would require? Not bashing the idea, since I am xNasa, but going to the moon and building a man capable base is not going to be cheap (or easy). Cost could be somewhat mitigated by surface mining h3, and who knows what else of value might be found/built there but the initial cost will be huge.
Cool screen name!
She must know that Obama can beat Mitt easier than he can beat Newt, so the only conclusion I can come to is that she wants Obama in for another term.
In '08 she supported Hilliary until Mitt turned her.
It was clear from the SOTU address that Obama’s plan is to paint the Republican nominee as a ‘rich out of touch white guy’, and you can't find someone who personifies that more than Romney. The 'millionaires paying only 15%' jibe was specifically targeted to the person the left thinks is the inevitable nominee. Further, who exactly is it that she is complaining about? The voters? They didn't vote for Newt in SC because someone in the media told them to. They didn't vote for him because someone is manipulating them. They voted for him because they liked the fact that he took it to the media and has declared himself a fighter. Wasn't Ann one of those who consistently pummeled the media? Who is it that she is addressing?
She is a lawyer making decent arguments that would score points in a Cornell debate class.
Her arguments look better on paper that coming out of her mouth.
In the real world, decisions are not made deciding which lawyer made the best debate points or wrote the best written arguments.
The choice comes down to trust.
There are a lot of reasons not to trust Newt, but that number is relatively small when compared to all the reasons not to trust Mitt.
I simply trust a shrewd Southern career politician with all his baggage more than I trust some slick carpetbagging politician and corporate raider from Massachusetts, Utah, or Michigan or from wherever the dickens the guy is from.
Slick Mitt simply only matches up well with slick Barry in a pillow fight.
Newt is accused of being a bomb thrower and when the Dems are you opponents, you need a carpet bomber not a carpetbagger.
I would also like to see more reasoned debate, instead of shouting “FU” to everyone who disgrees with the majority.
More light and less heat, please.
We are all coservatives here, or so I’d like to think.
The fact you deliberately chose a doctored glossy glamour shot from theatlanticwire.com for this thread speaks volumes about you and your motives.
yea Ann that’s right you just go with your homosexuals , cross dressers etc and you go for Mitt and you enjoy your elitist parties with them.
Hey Ann you’ve been inside the beltway and the north east too much
Probably still debating which part of Obamacare to eliminate and which parts he is still in love with.
As always, you nail it. The season is still young. She will make sure we have the most Conservative candidate at the front.
In Sept 2008 she had McSlime up about 8 points over the one. before Romney's slugs inside the campaign (Schmidt, Nicole Wallace) worked overtime to destroy her.
If it's Newt, she will campaign very hard for him (while at the same time, there will be Freepers who will insult and demean her efforts)
Coulter will be blabbing the whole time that Newt will lose, that Newt will lose.
You might want to listen to what he had to say...I believe it is posted at C-SPAN...it doesn't run very long.
