I know that Drudge hired Romneybots Joe Curl and Charles Hurt to help him with his election coverage for 2012. But looking at the hysteria going on at the Drudge Report right now, it looks like Ann Coulter has joined Curl and Hurt in running the site. What the heck is going on over there?

You worked in Palin and defended Romney, you made it pretty clear where you are at.
Has Newt been railing against homosexuality or something? (I mean....that would probably explain Ann & Drudge)
I know he has a gay half-sister or something, but I don't recall him going off on the subject.
Anne is now the bar wench and manx of the Country Club and I cant stand the smell of cheap whiskey covered by the presumed ardor of Camel Cigarettes...filterless of course to match that nasty taste coming out of her mouth.
Anne, Babe. Yoos a backstabber and Im old enough to keep a long memory of those who woo me and then attempt to marginalize me after all Ive done for you
BRAVO! clap, clap, clap, clap! Standing Ovation! Woo-Hoo!
I think we are all witnessing something we don’t quite grasp, yet. Perhaps a reformulation of the GOP. I personally think at the Presidential level this election has moved beyond republican/democrat. It is about preservation of a financial system whose failings may well become more apparent in the coming months. Therefore, it only matters to Soros, Murdoch, et al except that it preserves their power. These people are concerned about rumblings in the grassroots.
In other words it’s ultimately about money. Desperate people will be doing desperate things. We’ll see soon enough where it all goes and who are the real conservatives.
Why doesn’t someone create a nicely organized front page for Free Republic that can link directly to the articles that get added here? A mod could go through and pick the ones they want to put on the front page. It’s ridiculously easy to create and maintain a page like Drudge’s since it’s not much more than links, but you would need people to keep it updated round the clock. Unless you just wanted it to cycle through all the articles posted here in a routine fashion and weren’t worried about inserting pictures or special fonts. I’m a longtime Drudge reader but I find the collection of articles linked here more useful lately.
We don’t conclude that you care deeply, if you did you wouldn’t be defending Mitt Romney.
It’s not just name-calling. Just google Drudge gay and you can see a whole lot of quotes, testimony and supporting evidence on various sites including, if I recall, a gay former Bush admin guy attesting to the fact. It’s long been public knowledge Drudge and Coulter are close friends (discussed on his old radio show for one thing). And there are YouTube videos of Ann talking about her gay friends in great detail and about speaking at gay Republican groups.
Newt said he supports the Federal Marriage Amendment.
I don’t know if I am allowed to say this but there are people out here who don’t trust newt even though he is excellent in the debates. While we see he could beat Obama, we aren’t sure what he will really be like when he “catches the car.”
Ann coulter may have an affinity with the tall, thin, and plastic (Romney) for some reason.
Some insiders have personal reasons, right or wrong, to not like Newt. Maybe Matt drudge has such a reason. We know Brit Hume does.
I think Jim Robinson saved us from President Mitt in SC. And Sarah palin did too. I’m still not convinced on president newt. I hope this post doesn’t get me thrown out. I love this place.
Speaking of the SOTU speech, watch Barry pimp Giffords to sell more gun control. Big media won’t call that using the poor woman as a political prop sleazy, they will praise him for smart politics.
I could not agree more.
I think Newt had decided to blow up the GOP, primarily because it doesn’t stand for anything any more. I think this has the folks riding the gravy train nervous.
I think ideology is at an end. The next decade is either going to be about fixing it, or about what happens after the collapse.
The thing that gets me about Drudge, Coulter, Hume and the rest is the sudden disdain and contempt for the grassroots conservatives. They loved us when they needed us and now that they taste the Presidency and the Senate, we’re suddenly an inconvenience and distraction?
I also believe that Jim and Sarah saved us from Mitt in SC. And I also believe that God has his plan and is only slowly making it known to us.
A whole lot of the animosity towards Newt goes back to him virulently opposing the tax hikes by Bush, Sr. They blame Newt for costing Bush, Sr. the 1992 election. Sununu is part of this, he’s the guy who advised Bush, Sr. to raise taxes and he’s now one of the top Romney spokespeople. Some pundits were discussing this on TV at some point, basically saying it’s probably hard for anyone to understand just how deep a rift this event caused between Newt and his opponents in the party.
This article is a good one that explains what happened when Newt was taken into the “smoky backroom” and refused to cut a deal.

On the eve of a deal, the clear implication was that Gingrich was going to support it.
Gingrich had been warned about this moment. He said that a group of senior Republicans who had served in previous administrations told him he would have to cave in when a deal was struck.
They all said, Well, (the White House and the congressional Democrats) will in the end cut a deal and they will in the end call you in a room and they will tell you, you have to agree.’ And I said, Boys, there’s not a chance in hell I’m going to agree . . .’ And they all said, Yes, you will, you just don’t understand, yes, you will.’
Gingrich said that on Sept. 29, he was told that an agreement had been reached. They told me the deal they’d cut. I called my daughter, and my wife talked to her mother. Both my daughter and mother-in-law thought it was nuts.
Weber said that Bush later said that it was Gingrich’s revolt, and not the deal itself, that cost him. Without the high-profile rebellion, Bush concluded, he would have paid no political price for it.
We don’t know exactly what he’d be like because at heart he is not a party man, he’s his own man. But he’s got plenty of detailed proposals out there on his site you can look at, and he has a track record of living up to his campaign promises.
Sounds plausible. The key factor is they can’t control Gingrich and it scares the bejeebers out of them.
I do believe very perilous times are ahead. When Newt answered last night that the greatest challenge will be breaking those allied against change, he knew what he was saying.
As someone said earlier, many wonder what Newt will do when he finally catches the car. At this point I’m thinking it’s something we have to find out if we’re going to have any chance of real change in this country.
I know both Gingrich or Santorum would be better than mitt or Barry.
I don’t think the GOP elites have any room in their party for a middle class, genuinely religious person who doesn’t have an Ivy League education.
I think the “gay marriage” issue or at least gay rights in general could create a huge fissure within the party at some point, if it isn’t already, similar to how it has in some of the churches. I think the wealthy, “we like low taxes” wing of the Republicans are becoming more and more socially liberal and less and less religious, but the grass roots aren’t changing. One wing think it’s immoral and distasteful to promote homosexuality, the other wing thinks it’s immoral and distasteful to “discriminate” against gays. We’re always told that “gay marriage won’t be an issue in the election,” but I tend to think it’s the elites telling us that, so that they can slowly keep sneaking through their agenda on the issue without anyone speaking up or talking about what they’re doing.
