Amen to that. And it has NOTHING to do with Mormons or Romney. It’s a matter of principal. Leave the morally self righteous questions for the libs. Just makes them even more repulsive.

Have you ever asked this question of any other politician’s church donations?

The LDS Church (Mormon) Has a welfare program know world wide. Whenever disasters hit, one of the first there are Mormon’s. They have over 100 warehouses in the U.S. with emergency supplies ready to go. They manufacture Atmit, a cereal food used in Africa for the very young and very old. Each year they make 20 tons of this product for Ethiopia. They have drilled wells and piped clean water to dozens of African villages. Hundreds of Mormon volunteers help at every disaster in the U.S. and world wide. They work many times with Catholic and other charities. They help people of ALL faiths. Every stake (diocese) in the church has a food warehouse to help feed the poor. In this case it is mostly members. Look up Mormon Welfare.

If the religion is tearing down or attacking the US have at it. Are you alleging that’s what the mormans are doing?

It is done here all the time. The mormonophobes confuse going after Mitt with dissing Mormons.

Say what one may about the Mormons, but they care for people more and better than any religion I know of.

I remember years ago when a dam broke in CO and wreaked havoc. By the time fed, state governments and the Red Cross got their acts together and arrived on the scene. It was to find the Mormon church had been there from the beginning giving medical help, feeding, sheltering and helping the sricken in other ways. And no, I am not a Mormon.

I think the entire “I’m a Mormon” ad campaign was to make Romney’s candidacy more palatable.

I can’t prove it, but I’m a little suspicious.

The farms you are referring to are "Welfare Farms" where people getting aid from the "church" are expected to work. The employed LDS are not expected to work there for free.

They do not use the money for building temples. If a temple is built, the LDS who are within the area of the temple are each sent a bill for their share of the cost. I am a Catholic who lived in Bountiful, UT for 9 years. When the South Jordan temple was built. Each any every LDS in my neighborhood was sent a bill for their share of the cost (the money was not considered part of their tithe).

As I understand it, only tithing members are allowed in the temples, but the percentage is much higher than 15%. You must tithe in order for your marriage to be "sealed" in the temple, and you must be "sealed in the temple" in order to be a god of your own world after you die.

I don’t even screw around with a piddly automatic drip coffee maker. I have an old urn type percolator that makes the whole day’s worth of coffee all at once.

If one is Catholic and give money to the church, how do they know the money is not going to benefit pedophile priests?

The Mormon Church require members to tithe a full 10% of one's gross income (children tithe 10% on their allowances, gifts, etc. if their families are strong practicing LDS members).

Nothing is "deducted" in UT or elsewhere that I know of as "tithes" or "first fruits" (by the way as comes from the OT, not merely Mormon.)

I have many problems with the LDS church, not their members, as many here on FR already know but to suggest that any state "deducts" monies to be "donated" to the LDS church is not one of them - this simply does NOT happen in UT or anywhere else.

Mornon tithes are NOT donations. They are necessary and must be paid in order to achieve the celestial kingdom and godhood.

Man, I don't like Mitt Romney.

But, it's his money. If he wants to donate it to his church, that's fine. If he wants to cash it out into stacks of $1 bills to burn and heat his MA mansion, that's fine too.
