CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. Rick Santorum kicked off his Florida campaign here Sunday by aiming directly at Newt Gingrich. Its great to be glib, but its better to be principled, the former Pennsylvania senator told a crowd of more than 200 standing in a hot parking lot of a strip mall in this town outside Fort Lauderdale.
Santorum dismissed the idea that the South Carolina primary reshaped the race into a Gingrich-Mitt Romney face-off. Saturdays results could very quickly be overshadowed by the Jan. 31 Florida primary, in which hes hoping to reemerge as a factor. You have three candidates who can be president. That wasnt the case moving into South Carolina, he added, referencing Jon Huntsman and Rick Perrys withdrawal from the race. Florida can now step back and say, Okay
who is the candidate that we here in South Florida should put our seal of approval on?

Oh, I was being sarcastic. I dont think there is a candidate out there who is interested in limiting the size and scope of the Federal Government, other than the guy most people wont vote for. Which is why I havent campaigned for anyone.
I think it is dumb to support Newt just because he can beat Romney (maybe). I dont see their presidencies differing that much in what the President can actually affect. But groupthink is sinking in. I see too many “copy and paste” and “Union style one-line trolls” coming in and discouraging people from supporting who they like. It adds nothing to the debate.
Ummm, you only just now noticed?? :)
You'd be amazed what's been crawling out of the woodwork since SC...
Aren’t you your ex-wife’s ex husband?... ;-)
For 30 pieces of silver, Rick will endorse Mitt (if nothing more than spite).
I was pretty good with him about 3-4 weeks ago.
I thought a VP slot might be good as late as about a week ago.
Not anymore, he has a bit of maturing to go...

I like Santorum when he focuses on principle, and when he goes after Obama. He comes across as a serious contender.
When he goes after the other candidates, it doesn’t work for him, he just comes across as petty.
He should stick to what works for him.
He is the #2 choice for most people who support Gingrich. It doesn’t do any good for the #2 choice to be attacking their #1 choice. Go after Obama. Raise up conservative principles. Do what works. If you lose, you lose honorably.
Leave the mud-throwing to the romniacs.
Doesn’t she receive the same forgiveness extended to Newt Gingrich and Callista?
Seems to me that’s one of the more damning admissions one could make in asking to be chosen the leader of a Free People, yet he says it proudly...
Exactly who other than Republican big wigs do you think is going to pick the nominee if there ends up being a brokered convention?
If there is a brokered convention say hello to Jeb Bush, Chris Christie or Mitch Daniels as the Republican nominee.
Romney hacks are funneling big bucks to Santorum so he can stay in the race and help attack Newt.
I never got any memo. It must be stuck in inter-office transit.
I agree.
Why doesn’t he talk about BHO and what he would do to roll back the crap dished out the last three years.
He really is starting to sound shrill.
Come on FRiend, we don't need that of leftist drivel here...really.
We've all made mistakes in the past, can your candle hold up better?
What if that’s true? Should he remain silent?
This is situation normal in politics.
If it’s not true, then it should be refuted. But it’s futile, and not helpful, to act as though the other candidates should never try to knock “your guy” down.
