Leftists, MittBots, PaulBots, RINOs, Karl Rove establishment types and trolls of many stripes and colors have one-by-one driven our leading grassroots conservative candidates out of the race. They worked for years on Palin, then Perry, then Cain, then Bachmann, now Newt. When ever a non-establishment, non-RINO conservative gets into the lead they open fire and 24/7 trash and torpedo until they drive them out.
NO MORE!!
If you want to troll and trash our conservative candidates, take your business elsewhere! PaulBots can take it to a liberaltaraian site. RomneyBots to FOX News. RINO trolls to the NY Times. Lib trolls to DU. Abortionist/statist trolls to hell. I dont care where you go, but if youre here to trash Newt 24/7, Im gunning for your azz!!
REBELLION IS HERE!!
WAR IS HELL!!
DONT TREAD ON ME!!
and it looks like S. Carolinians agree with you :-D! Newt for President!!
Thank you, LJ. I always enjoy yours, as well. You've opened my mind to a different perspective on more than one occasion.
You are very kind.
What I need to do is make a list of freepers whose comments I like and just do searches on them instead of “latest posts”. I was just thinking of that lately. I have a mental list but I’m so forgetful, I should make a list on my desktop.
I totally agree - those who have fallen/transgressed etc and then realized the wrongs, and changed - are just as “good” as those who never fell. Wasn’t Issa a car thief at one time? And some fall or transgress of course, more than others. ANd there are some transgressions that while forgivable by God are so egregious they render a person unsuitable for public life.
I have some doubts about Newt but they are more along the lines of his sitting with Pelosi and some other stuff; I don’t relish his strange marital career, but heck - he IS a fighter and he is smart and he does hold conservative principles. I really liked him in the Contract with America days. He will not be tempted - I don’t think - to compromise or make nice with knaves and fools. And that is absolutely VITAL.

You and I seem to be echoing a common set of considerations about Newt. I don't think that's surprising, given the number of times he's strayed off the conservative reservation in recent years.
Most of us who suddenly find ourselves in his column, have had to work our way through our past grievances with him. It's been harder for some than others, but by and large, most of us seem to be reasoning our way through this in similar fashion.
What finally did it for me, was when I managed to differentiate between his positions of recent years, and his real accomplishments while serving in the House.
He has abandoned and recanted most of the deal-breaking positions he once held in recent years, and has even been candid and truthful enough to freely admit that he erred in taking them. That impressed me quite a bit, because it's such a rare thing for a politician to do.
Notice that Mittens simply doubles down on his past positions, and tries to double-talk his way out of being wrong on most of his record. Even worse, he simply adopts a new position, without ever voicing a mea culpa over taking the opposite view before! It makes you want to run from the guy, or hide the silver!
I like your idea of searching on favorite Freepers' handles to see their latest posts. I've done that when I was trying to sort out where a questionable poster really stood, but I hadn't thought of doing that to catch up on some of my favorite wordsmiths here.
Great idea!
Thank you, Col Freeper. I’m sure that Jim Thompson will be needing all that Reddy can send to him.
Yipee! Cat Scratch Fever!!!
Um...you have the wrong person. I don’t have a “ping” list although, like most, I’m included in some. Nor do I mention someone’s name without “pinging” them. If I did, it was a mistake. Please do dig into my history to find that I completely hate our country and Sarah Palin in particular. As one of your co-horts suggested (before getting hit with a mod feather), perhaps I’m just a sleeper commie.
Now I am going to celebrate Newt’s huge victory and hope that you, too, can get into that.
Oh no... you two aren’t gonna fool me. This is some Romney plot to make me think I’m crazy...that’s what it is....
See, I know there was never really any Palin PDS threads for you to be on. That was a trick question and I’m too smart for you! They were just like my imaginary friend Windflier!
I don’t care how much they are paying you two. You ain’t gonna ever convince me that anyone ever spoke a bad word about Sarah Palin, nor is there any Black conservative. I watched TV and TV would never lie to me.
It’s my friend too!
Next you two will try to say that FR hasn’t been a pro-Romney site since 2008. I happen to know that the Viking Kitties are Mitt’s elite guard and Nyan Cat is his messenger! Now I’m going to go take my happy little pills and finish that basket I’ve been weaving since John McCain won the presidency. His daughter sure is smart! I sure hope he beats Carter this time though.....
(lalala-lalala-lalal-la) ;)
“Gosh, I sure wish you would have clamped down on this BEFORE these other people were so viciously attacked and eventually run out of the race. The Perry supporters suffered relentless vicious attacks from the likes of org.whodat and even some of the mods.”
Gosh, where were you when your victims were telling people on various threads that I and others were flat out racists that wanted BBQd Mexican children over the Border fence? We won’t even get into the PDS Palin supporters dealt with. No, I don’t imagine that attacking half of FR qualifies as goading a flame war.
Wait...Nevermind. Not worth the effort.
He's soooo not electable.
But, that aside, I cannot get past his isolationism. Isolationism worked well until about 1950, when air traffic started becoming commonplace. Isolation WILL NOT WORK AT ALL today, in this wired world.
“It is simple.”
Actually its not. Regardless of how one may feel about their post, it is how the mods and Jim Robinson perceive it that determines whether one is banned or one gets to post another day. I’ll repeat my question - where is the line drawn between asking acceptable and unacceptable questions of Newt and his policies? Is there one in the first place or is Newt totally off limits now? Considering the overwhelming number of threads being pulled and long time posters being banned this is not an idle concern.
“it is how the mods and Jim Robinson perceive it that determines whether one is banned or one gets to post another day. Ill repeat my question - where is the line drawn”
Let’s see, now, in your first part of that quote you state the line is what Jim says it is then you ask you question, again, as though you don’t know the answer. Seems retarded to me. Asking the same question over and over again expecting different results while knowing the answer.
“you dont know the answer.”
Because we don’t and it was a question directed at Jim Robinson in hopes of an answer. Mr. Robinson hasn’t EXPLICITLY stated that all criticism of Newt will result in being zotted. See the opening paragraph of this thread. I’d like to have his position clarified. Is it now FR policy that the questioning of Newt is now verboten? If one posts a thread that isn’t overtly celebratory of Newt will it be pulled? I don’t want to get banned. If its made clear that posting to Newt threads is risky I’ll avoid the threads religiously.
Please add me to your "Friends of Little Jeremiah" Ping List!
Some of the people getting it for trashing Newt were also the ones shrieking the loudest that Palin was a no-go, trashing Cain, and pushing either Romney, Paul, or pushing Perry WHILE trashing everyone else.
It seems that some people just want to follow the route pissant took in this election cycle instead of discussing the merits or demerits of the individual candidates.
And those seem to the the posters who are eating it.
Yes, Jim was pretty clear.
We need a strong conservative in this election cycle.
For some reason, very strident morons have run out Palin, Cain, et al in support of who?
Romney and Paul?
And this leaves us with what kind of candidate pool exactly?
Yes, I am heartless towards illegal immigrants thank you very much to all the Perry supporters who BBQ’d us for taking offense at that statement and for wanting our borders enforced.
Right now what matters is BEATING ROMNEY and BEATING OBAMA.
Unite or Die, Republican party.
If you don’t, you will go the way of the Whigs and I won’t be sad to see you go considering how the party heads have tried to foist Romney off on us!
Jim has made his position PERFECTLY clear: FR will not be used to bash Newt. Period.
You just want to find a way to bash Newt and get away with it. That is childish. ANY bashing of Newt is a step towards helping Obama get re-elected. FR will not be used for that purpose.
Ronalds Reagan’s 11th Commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican”.
It is childish to say, “Yeah, I know, but still want to.”
I missed the big Guiliani purge but I'd imagine it's a lot like what's happening today.
Perhaps it's alright to point out Newt's flaws; but, claiming they'll ensure his defeat is going too far. Especially if the poster has a history of pushing Romney.
To be honest, I love seeing race-baiters and abusive jerks get the ZOT; however, today's electrical activity is a bit disturbing!
“You just want to find a way to bash Newt and get away with it.”
Ridiculous statement. Please point out on this thread where I’ve bashed Newt! Darksheare said it best with regards to what I and many other posters wish to do:
“discussing the merits or demerits of the individual candidates.”
Is this no longer allowed when it comes to Newt? A simple yes or no answer is all that’s being asked. If even questioning a position a candidate has made is forbidden then Jim Robinson should just say so. I and others on FR who wish to remain will thus keep our queries to ourselves. Whether that’s healthy for a discussion board and a candidate for elective office is another story.
“today’s electrical activity is a bit disturbing!”
Conservatives tend to eat their own. Liberals will support the Devil, himself, if need be to win. We will not find a perfect Saint to elect. However, we can and did find several candidates that can do a good job, nut Newt is the ONLY candidate that has any level of competitive spirit to attack and win over Obama.
To say negative things about him serves what purpose? What, exactly, are you trying to do by pointing out any weaknesses in his candidacy? Just bitch? Help Obama?
Want to know why some people rise to executive levels of corporation and government? Because they get reality. They know that pointing out other’s weaknesses is bashing them and perhaps helping their opponents. They know just pointing out weaknesses without a solution is just bitching and no one wants to be bitched at. They know anything other than positive statements are negative statements. They get that. Many others, like you, dont. You have this obsessive urge to bitch, whine, moan, and complain, as though that will help matters.
How is bitching about Newt going to help get Obama out of office? Do you want Obama to stay in office? Your bitching about Newt helps do that. It sure as Hell doesnt help Newt. Again, some people get that anything other than positive statements are negative statements helping the opposition. Jim gets it, and unless you want Obama back in office you had better get it, too.
Try to find positive things to say about Newt. You sure cant say there is nothing about him that is positive or else there is no doubt you know nothing about him. Maybe you are not old enough to remember 1994. If not, go read about it. It was an impressive and dire time.
