An ex-wife of Newt Gingrich told ABC Newss Nightline that the Republican presidential candidate wanted an open marriage.
In a published clip of Brian Rosss interview with Marianne Gingrich, which will air tonight, Marianne Gingrich said her husband wanted her to accept the fact that he had a mistress. He was asking to have an open marriage and I refused, she said.
Marianne Gingrich said Newt Gingrich admitted to his six-year affair with Callista, a congressional aide who is now married to the candidate. Newt Gingrich allegedly said Callista doesnt care what I do.
Asked for her response, Marianne Gingrich said she responded, No, that is not a marriage.
According to ABC News, Marianne Gingrich will say her husband does not have the moral character to be president. She will express her shock at learning that her husband conducted his affair with Callista in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington.

Karl Rove at it again.
Just a thought.
She must have been in the same restaurant as me the other day. I heard them call her,,, “Bitter,,, party of one”.
It was overrated.
The institution of the family is the key issue facing this great nation. It is the foundation, the bedrock, upon which every dimension of Western Civilization rests, he said. If it is undermined or weakened by cultural and governmental forces, the entire superstructure will collapse in short order. And indeed, today it is in serious jeopardy. The very definition of marriage is threatened, which has implications for the next generation and the stability of society itself.
They were separated for multiple years.
For six years he preferred a “half-open marriage”.
I'd have to disagree with her on this point, since Clinton and Obama I'm not sure if there is a ANY "moral character" requirement to be president anymore.
Newt needs to come out strong today to Defend Traditional Marriage and condemn the Ex-Wife for being an outright liar.
Why should we believe a bitter, old, nagging X-wife?
Newt knoweth not that Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
It’s funny. They just showed Newt on TV at a place in South Carolina where he is giving a speech, and he has hauled out a whole bunch of his family members to appear on stage with him for this one, to show what a great family man he is. Funny that, as he knows what’s about to happen with his ex-wife giving her interview on national television on TV tonite. So now he trots out his family members to show that he’s not who he is, even though his wife/mistress, the ice queen Callista, is at his side, along with the rest of his family members. What a pretty family portrait he is now presenting, when he knows the great expose is about to happen tonite on ABC Nightline. We’ll see if this trick works. He sure knows how to use every trick in the book, just like in the old days when he tricked his wives while carrying on affairs.
Yeah,, she got him fair and square by cheating with him during his first marriage. She got back exactly what she gave some other woman.
Just a thought,,,
How can you trust a person who cheats on his wifes (plural)?
Oh, well. Bygones. I still support Gingrich for president though I probably wouldn’t call on him for marriage counseling.
Wow-—he should draw a lot of Mormon, libertarian and democrat votes. This is exactly what their “homosexual” marriages and polygamy agendas are all about-—no sexual morality in marriage. They should be lauding Newt.
No candidate is perfect and a bitter x-wife is not credible. I don’t like the fact that Newt is divorced, but I would still vote for him over zero. There are degrees of evil, and some understand that they have sinned. Some think they are above sin and are god. Newt is not one of them.
Personally, I don't see what ABC-or Marianne Gingrich-hopes to accomplish with this.
I don't think any of Newt's fans are going to be dissuaded from voting for him based upon the opinion of one of his ex-wives.
Yawn. A bitter ex-wife with decade-old allegations?
Is this the best Romney can do?
