Newt was 'investigated' for everything. Between liberals who hated him - and a bitter controlling ex - he was a sitting duck for this type of harassment.

Anyone can be investigated for anything. YOU can be investigated. Or your neighbor - with a good enough story. The FBI will come out and investigate. It's what policing agencies do.

The fact that NOTHING came of this - and HUNDREDS of other 'investigations' of Newt - makes it reek of political witch hunt.

Newt was found innocent of all except some small thing to do with teaching a class for free - the equivalent of jay walking ... Louis Freeh (FBI) is known for being a 'by the book' kind of guy - there's no way he would have interfered and stopped an investigation if he hadn't seen the stuff being done (against Newt) as political.

As far as his sweet loyal ex-wife is concerned - who hasn't known a bitter controlling vengeful woman?

I like your line of thinking, especially after reading over Santorum’s latest statement - on SOPA of all things. How could he not know what Americans across the board view this as?!?! This is a man who clearly believes : o that government can and SHOULD be used to dictate/legislate morality...

Gosh folks, let’s do try not to swing from one totalitarian extreme to the other : /

May God grant us the wisdom.

He can’t do it without me,” she replies. “I told him if I’m not in agreement, fine, it’s easy” —she giggles at her naughtiness. “I just go on the air the next day, and I undermine everything...I don’t want him to be president and I don’t think he should be.” >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

If Newt were a Kennedy or a Clinton she would have died in a boating accident or a plane crash some time ago, liberal fascist style.

Honestly, Karen Santorum is not the Santorum I am concerned about...

—for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”—

This Alinskyism drives me up a wall. We would be hypocrites if we CLAIMED to be sinless. We DON’T! We claim to be sinners in need of a savior. SHEESH!

Yet the lsm repeats this canard ad nauseum.

Maybe 6 people will see Nightline, but Fox will report on it breathlessly all day Friday.

It nauseates me as well but it is a fact of life. As we are instructed to be harmless as a dove but wiser than the serpent.... A dove does not tolerate anyone messing with her little ones...

We once had a President, who was faithful to his wife, and the only scandal was that he admitted that he had lust in his heart....do we really want to go back to that?

Well he only had enough faith to not mess around on his wife, but sure did not mind treating US like we were streetwalkers for his pleasure.

I’d rather have a man as President who wrecked his marriage than a man as President who wrecked his country...

She is a "I couldn't have him, so he can't have what he wants: the presidency or any happiness!"

Well, he started having sex with her in 1980. He married her in 1981. He started cheating on her in the mid-90s, and divorced her at the start of the 21st century. So, she "had him" for at least 16 years, hardly an indication that she "couldn't have him".

She was his wife for over a decade, and then he cheated on her. This doesn't excuse her, if she is making stuff up about him now, but I can't bring myself to blame HER for Gingrich leaving her, or making Gingrich the victim and her the bad guy, as some people want to do here.

On the other hand, my sympathy for her is limited because she only HAD Gingrich because she had sex with a married man. Gingrich met both his second and 3rd wives by sleeping with them while married, so neither of them are really blameless in anything, they both enabled an adulterer, and it's hard then to feel too bad for her that she got what she gave.

I have no idea if she is a Tea Party advocate or not, and I don't know whether you have any idea either. We do tend to label people in or out based on how we feel about their interaction with candidates we like, as opposed to actually knowing what a person's actual politics are.

It's not like Gingrich was a tea party person; nobody here considered him "Tea Party" when he bucked the tea party and endorsed DeDe over the Tea Party-backed candidate Doug Hoffman. He did back Christine O'Donnell, after she already won the primary in Delaware. On the other hand, O'Donnell is no longer considered Tea Party since her meltdown and endorsement of Mitt Romney.

On the other hand, his current marriage hasn’t yet lasted as long as his 2nd marriage, so we still have to see. If someone had looked at Gingrich in 1992, they might well have decided that being married for 12 years, he had shown he had turned over a new leaf.

I am not worried about him in this regard, but his history does stand on it’s own. And I don’t think it’s “holier than thou” to point out that both his 2nd and 3rd wives became his wives by sleeping with him while he was married to previous wives. Or to note that being President is a special honor and not something you are entitled to, so there are a lot of things you could be “forgiven” for but that could still make people not want you to be President.

I have trouble supporting Gingrich because I don’t think he can survive the general election, nor do I think we can be sure he wouldn’t use his intellectual and persuasive powers for evil instead of good. It hurt us when he turned his talents against us trying to “fix” global warming, and he did us no favors when he gave the media a “conservative voice” to trash the house republican budget.

she comes across as a shrew and a bitter ex. Newt was smart to be done with her. Then again SHE filed the divorce.

Of course, I should add, if the stories are true, that she did “lose” him for a good deal of time DURING that 16 years, before reconciling. So maybe “having” was more of an esoteric thing.

ABC News doesn’t want to run the piece until after N G has the Republican nomination locked up.

Did Newt Gingrich corner Jackie in her hospital bed?

From Jackie Cushman Gingrich’s Townhall post, Setting The Record Straight, May 11, 2008:

As for my parents’ divorce, I can remember when they told me.

It was the spring of 1980. I was 13 years old, and we were about to leave Fairfax, Va., and drive to Carrollton, Ga., for the summer. My parents told my sister and me that they were getting a divorce as our family of four sat around the kitchen table of our ranch home.

Soon afterward, my mom, sister and I got into our light-blue Chevrolet Impala and drove back to Carrollton.

Later that summer, Mom went to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for surgery to remove a tumor. While she was there, Dad took my sister and me to see her.

It is this visit that has turned into the infamous hospital visit about which many untruths have been told. I won’t repeat them. You can look them up online if you are interested in untruths. But here’s what happened:

My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested.

Dad took my sister and me to the hospital to see our mother.

She had undergone surgery the day before to remove a tumor.

The tumor was benign.
