A message from Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation. [Help Newt in SC]
JudsonPhillips.com ^ | January 18, 2012 | Judson Phillips

Posted on 01/18/2012 12:39:49 PM PST by greyfoxx39

This Saturday will be the most important primary vote of the year. Either conservatives and Tea Party members unite to stop Mitt Romney or we see a repeat of 2008, with a liberal Republican going up against Barack Obama.

The conservative movement is split between three candidates, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.

I am calling on conservatives and members of the Tea Party movement to unite behind Newt Gingrich in South Carolina so that we can stop Mitt Romney.

If we are going to see a conservative agenda advanced, we need a conservative candidate to do it and the only remaining candidate that can do it is Newt Gingrich.

I like Rick Perry. If Newt were not in the race, I would be behind Perry. But Perry’s campaign is on its last legs. Nationally Perry is at only 7% and is less than that in South Carolina. After the primary vote on Saturday, Perry’s campaign will more than likely end.

Rick Santorum is polling well but he has problems. Since he focused so intensely on Iowa, he does not have campaign infrastructure in many states. In fact, there are a number of states where he will not even appear on the ballot. In other states, like my home state of Tennessee, his name will appear but he has no delegates who have qualified for the ballot. What that means is that even if Santorum were to win Tennessee, he would get no delegates for the convention.

Santorum is not on Virginia’s ballot and according to the Chicago Sun-Times, he has been challenged in Illinois and will probably not be on that ballot. In Ohio, Illinois (even if he stays on the ballot), and DC, he does not have a full slate of delegates.

In short, Santorum, just due to campaign limitations, cannot stop Romney. All he can do by staying in the race at this point is to continue to divide the conservative vote.

I am asking every conservative and Tea Party member to unite now behind Newt Gingrich so that we can stop Mitt Romney and have a conservative nominee for President.

If you want to help, here is what you can do.

If you can go to South Carolina between now and Saturday to help the campaign, please do. Register with the campaign site here.

If you cannot go to South Carolina, you can still help by contacting anyone you know in South Carolina and asking them to go out and vote for Newt. Please forward this email to everyone on your email list and in your Tea Party or Liberty group.

You can also join the phone bank efforts to help get the vote out in South Carolina. You don’t have to live in South Carolina to do this. You can live anywhere and help.

We must all join together and unite now or watch another liberal Republican get the nomination.

The Republican establishment wants to give us the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Barack Obama. They gave us John McCain in 2008 and we all know how well that one worked out.

There is only one conservative left with a chance to stop the liberal former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney and then defeat Barack Obama this fall.

Join me and let us all unite today behind Newt Gingrich for President

When Newt comes in behind Santorum as he did in Iowa and New Hampshire, what will the new McNewt talking point be? Oh yes, McNewt was ahead of Santorum in the polls leading up to both.

Very good write up and very respectful of the Ricks.

I do not like Newt Gingrich. I don’t HAVE to in order to vote for him. He’s the one that can win, and between him and Romney, I prefer the more conservative one to go up against Obama.

The writer is correct about Santorum and his lack of a nat’l campaign, while Newt is backed by a billionaire.

Newt has the money, the machine (well, better than Santorum) and the momentum. Invest in skin sanitizer and emrace Newt for the good of the nation.

Santorum and Perry need to get out of Newt’s way.

I know that I do not want McNewt or Rambama and an automatic four more years for Obama.

“When Newt comes in behind Santorum as he did in Iowa and New Hampshire, what will the new McNewt talking point be? Oh yes, McNewt was ahead of Santorum in the polls leading up to both.”

If Newt comes behind Santorum in SC, then I think he should quit. But I dont think that will happen unless he blows up in tomorrow’s debate (which can always happen in an election when a few days is an eternity).

“The Republican establishment wants to give us the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Barack Obama.”

Newt and his supporters should drop that line. After all, Reagan’s the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Jimmy Carter.

Sarah Palin's comment doesn't hurt a bit, either.

“Positive Intensity”

Is not an indicator of actual poll numbers.

Well Id rather be ahead in a poll than behind. Wouldn’t you?
Rick is gaining everyday and has many Groups getting on board
with him, which will lead to his funding needs being met.

On a personal level I prefer either Rick over Newt or Romney.....but one blew it on “first impressions” and the other lacks a national campaign apparatus.

It is exceedingly important this election year to beat first Romney then Obama.

I see both Ricks fading badly in REAL polls and if they cannot poll well in the race for the G.O.P. nomination against ROMNEY, WTF should I trust that either of them could beat Obama?

Rick was not even polling well in Iowa, and then he won.
Then he tied in NH with Newt for second,
and now he is backed by Evangelical leadership as well as delegates in SC.

Id say he has the best chance of defeating Romney right now again.

The vote is coming and we shall see who finishes stronger in SC

No, but do you know that Newt is a pro-life Reagan Revolution veteran conservative who led the Republican Revolution of the 90’s taking the majority away from the democrats who had held it for 40 years? And as Speaker, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the spending, cut the deficit, cut regulations, cut unemployment, brought the federal budget under control for four years running? And unlike Romney, actually blocked a socialist healthcare system from becoming law? And created a pro-growth, pro-free market, pro-jobs environment and extended the Reagan economy throughout the 90’s!!

And do you know that he wants to go to a 15% personal flat tax after deductions and a 12.5% corporate tax? And eliminate the capital gains taxes altogether? And he wants to privatize social security and medicare and eliminate the payroll tax?

And he wants to neuter the EPA and the Fed? And repeal ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley? And fire all of the czars, dismantle the Marxist state and fire if not jail Bernanke? And send 185 federal socialist welfare programs back to the states and the people? And return education back to local control?

And directly challenge the liberal activist judiciary and end the unconstitutional power grabs of our usurping black robed rulers?

And he has the knowledge, experience, know how, fire in the belly, and the balls to do it!!

I think we can use some of Newt’s conservative talents right now!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

Unite or lose!!
