COMPLETE TITLE

BREAKING: Palin Urges Romney to Release Tax Returns, Provide Proof of 100,000 Jobs Created at Bain Capital

###

Former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has called for Gov. Mitt Romney to release his tax returns, as well as the data that could substantiate his claim of having created 100,000 jobs as CEO of Bain Capital.

Romney has resisted releasing his tax returns, and his campaign has thus far refused to provide the hard proof to back up his claims about Bain.

“Governor Romney has claimed to have created 100,000 jobs at Bain, and people are wanting to know: is there proof?” Palin told Sean Hannity on Fox News.

*snip*

Earlier this week, Big Government pointed out that Romney’s claim to have created 100,000 jobs contrasts with claims he made during his 1994 U.S. Senate campaign, when he claimed to have created 10,000 jobs at Bain. Romney retired from Bain Capital in 1999.

Palin said that Romney needed to come clean about his record, given the likelihood that Democrats would probe the tax issue and Romney’s tenure at Bain if he were to become the Republican nominee.

The former Alaska governor also told Hannity that she did not think it was inevitable that Romney would become the Republican nominee.

There was never any possibility that Sarah Palin would run for VP with Romney. She is an evangelical, strong on 2nd amendment and right to life, as well as separation of church and state, but not the exclusion of freedom of worship.

That was an easy cop out for Romney, he knows Obama will never release any records.

Verrrry interesting, hmmm?

Investigation is definitely required (maggie ..? ;)

Makes this all the more fascinating .. no?

Edgar is HUGE .. database that tracks and reports SEC filings.

(((OK .. I DID NOT realize that Edgar is actually PART of the SEC ...

These are the results for a search of Bain Capital

Bain bought EDGAR ONLINE .. a for pay subscription service. Weird that something so similar to a govt entity can be privately owned. I’m a neophyte in such things, but perhaps some investor/finance type can explain this.

Really?

I’ve not seen that reported ANYWHERE!

~~~~~~
Bain owns Huntsman Chemical, the family business. It’s also connected to Goldman Sach.
Pat Buchanan to Raymond Arroya gave a plausible explanation of what has happened the past twenty years. The free trade movement has turned out pretty much as Perot predicted it would, which a tremendous loss of industrial capacity to countries with lower wages. It does seems as though the upper classes in ever western country have more in common with their peers in other countries than with their own countrymen. The events of 2008 were just aimed at saving the bacon of the big financial institutions who had profited most.
I never seriously thought that she would accept a vp slot under Romney. But I really don’t know what she is planning.
I think we can see why Palin did not run. She saw the game was rigged. The attack on Bain terrified the Establishment because it reveals how affairs have been handled for the past twenty years. Mitt is really just a small time player, but huge fortunes have been made by financial institutions entering into the same kind of arrangements. The Democrats are essentially right that the Republicans were mainly responsible, but they have been players, too, and their attempts to stay in power have cranked up engine speed so high that the train might not make the next curve.
I believe he will win them over, if he can just get the opportunity. . . . . .
__________________________________________________________
Newt wouldn’t have had to do a lot to win me over in a choice between him and Obama but between him and Santorum I’m afraid my personal belief is that Santorum is the better person. I think Newt might make a good president, he seems to know how to get things done. He certainly knows how to get things done in Washington. But, I think he hurt himself by the way he went after Bain. Yes I know you will tell me he didn’t go after Bain he went after Romney. Had he done it quietly and without fanfare it wouldn’t have blown back on him but it was like he was showing off that he could get revenge, it appeared to many to be immature. To a lot of people it seemed like a left handed attack. It seemed like an attack from Occupy Wall street.
I personally see nothing wrong with the idea of saying, OK show us how you got these “net” 100,000 jobs you created. I’m not sure it is anybodies business to see RINO Romneys taxes but the proof of the jobs is fair game. All this talk about “Vulture Capitalism” hurts capitalism more than Romney.
Crony Capitalism is an evil this country has taken to like a duck to water and Obama has been the best at it of any politician I have ever seen since the days of
Truman. If Bain has been involved in it then it should be shown that it was. If Romney has been a part of Crony Capitalism then the world needs to know it.
Taking advantage of legal loopholes in tax law is not Crony Capitalism, Crony Capitalism is when the government treats certain “preferred” companies differently than everybody else, like Solyndra. If there are political donations from Bain/Romney and then special privileges for Bain I want to see it and I want the whole world to see it, that kind of stuff stinks when the Democrats do it and to me stinks even more when done by so called Republicans.
I used to think that Newt was the greatest person in the land. Having an affair while excoriating Clinton for doing the same soured me on him. Then he goes and does it again. It is one thing for a marriage to fail, that happens. But when it fails because of adultery, twice, then there is a serious character flaw. If your own spouse can’t trust you then how can the rest of us trust you. It is one thing to want revenge for being hurt by someone who got the better of you, but willingness to hurt others (capitalism, free enterprise) just to get at the target has really soured me on Newt. Taking money from and working for Fannie and Freddie is wrong. You can’t work for crooked people without getting dirty. Now last but not necessarily least, I’m sorry but sitting on a couch with Pelosi talking about the evils of Global Warming, was just the last straw.
Despite all this, if suicide bomber Newt, takes out Romney and helps Rick Santorum then at least some good will have come of it all.
Go Rick Santorum.
When you look back to that 1998-99 time period you realize that Newt's actions killed us. He made our side look like fools. It has never been stated, but I suspect this was a big reason why Newt was bounced out by his own. Of all the candidates in the race, Newt is the least trustworthy based on actions past and present. I mean trustworthy in the sense you can not trust he will not go off on some wild and stupid tangent. The one flaw he makes that shows his character is his exaggeration of his own importance. He heard him once state that he and Ronald Reagan won the Cold War together. Reagan yes, Gingrich not so much. Newt, to sum it all up, is a bulls**t artist.
Newt came on, did this very reasoned and balanced discourse on why it WAS important to check out romney at bain. He answered their attacks, and just took the wind out of their sails... they were actually stunned and quiet. There are a lot of people who haven’t heard him speak even once yet...
Exactly. If I had five minutes with Gingrich, I'd suggest he can address huge audiences, especially the independents and lefties by making guest appearances on the alphabet networks.
He's sharp enough to address any crap they throw at him and actually turn it around to sandbag the hostile hosts and guests, AND inform the liberal sheeple.
Gingrich to Fox news guest Bob Beckel, and others like Alan Colmes, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow...
None of these appearances would cost him anything other than travel expense.
I love Palin so much Todd ought to be jealous, but if Palin doesn't endorse Newt by vote day, she falls big time in my eyes. SC is BIG and Newt needs a win. I know she is trying not to burn bridges, but you know Romney isn't her choice. So who is? Santorum? Perry has the money, but you know he can't stay in being last every vote day. It's either Romney or Newt and she is smart enough to know it. Newt is within a couple points of winning. Perry and Santorum, not so much. Palin endorsing Newt would do it, IMHO. Is Romney going to cuddle and spoon with the Tea Party?
Sarah! If you are reading this, get off your butt! Daylight is burning. Maybe after the debate Monday?
Did it ever occur to you that Newt might not want her endorsement? Or at least, he’s never asked for it. Palin said on FOX the other night that her endorsement brings along a certain amount of controversy that a candidate may not want to contend with.
Romney Plans to Pursue Public Service - SLOC boss won’t return to business after Games; Romney Plans to Pursue Public Service
Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - Tuesday, August 21, 2001
Author: MIKE GORRELL, THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE
EXCERPT
The transition was ensured when Romney informed the 26 managing directors of Bain Capital recently that he was “going limited.” That meant he no longer intended to resume his duties as managing partner and chief executive of the company, which started or took part in 140 corporate acquisitions since 1984 and has more than $12 billion in assets.
In doing so, he gave up control over all of Bain Capital’s voting stock, dividing the shares between the two dozen directors. The divestiture had no financial ramifications, Romney said, affecting only the management and control of the company.
Public service for Romney
Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - Monday, August 20, 2001
Author: Lisa Riley Roche and Bob Bernick Jr., Deseret News staff writers
EXCERPT
Romney took a leave of absence in 1999 as chief executive officer of Bain Capital Inc. to take the helm at SLOC.
Bain is one of the nation’s biggest private equity firms with 26 partners.
Earlier this year, Huntsman Corp. announced a deal in which Bain invested more than $600 million in the Salt Lake City-based chemical company.
Under terms of the deal, Bain gained a minority equity stake in Huntsman Corp., which assured the deal had nothing to do with Romney .
