Russia has given Iran its bear hug and warns Israel and the West that an attack on Tehran would be considered an attack on Moscow. The threat heightens the prospect of World War III in the event of a military strike on Iran.
“Iran is our neighbor,” Russia's outgoing ambassador to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, told reporters in Brussels. “And if Iran is involved in any military action, it’s a direct threat to our security.”

Rogozin is a known excentric warmongering clown in Russia, in a class of McCain. His words aren’t official position. Russia is a first party who won’t let Iran have nukes, it is also a nation to benefit at most from a destruction of Iran by USA and Israel.

A stalemate is fine. That’s better than WWIII. It also puts a lot of pressure on the russians to keep their client under control.

Actually, that is one of the things (a scenario) that keeps people up late at night at the Pentagon war gaming. The concern that the Pakistani government will fall and extremists in that country (the Taliban) will get there hands on Nukes. Two others are a North Korea scenario and a China one.
