A Northern California tree trimmer has been decapitated after an industrial wood chipper apparently sucked up a rope tangled around his neck.

Sounds like a quick way to go, but really messy. Glad that I wasn't the one who caught the Ambulance call.
“Is Ted in the house?”
Wow. Such an image.
Thanks for the midday laugh!
The comments on this thread are horrifying. Tree trimmers are just one more under-appreciated group of physical laborers. It takes expertise, guts and hard work to perform this type of service. When just one oversight or error in judgement can cause death - be thankful for those who do this work for an honest day’s pay in order to feed their families rather than sit on their arses and complain or make fun of those that do.
lotsa time left for this year
It is.
The guy was 50, “Darwin Award” doesn’t seem to have any meaning anymore to people since it just means dead, now.
“Nevada County sheriff’s deputies initially said 50-year-old Martin Lara was feeding brush and was pulled head-first into the wood chipper by the rope.
But coroner’s Sgt. Paul Schmidt tells Sacramento’s KCRA-TV (http://bit.ly/w4SqEP ) that something got caught in the wood chipper and got tangled around Lara’s neck, decapitating him.”
Actually, this happened yesterday morning.
A few years ago we had a local dentist killed when he was cut into several pieces. His fencing wire got tangled around him and caught in his gas powered post hole digger. It wasn’t quick. I knew him slightly and he was a golfing buddy of my dentist.
No he's outback somewhere....
Did Nikita Khrushchev know anything about mixing ropes and wood chippers together?
Veteran EMS staff probably joked about it later. Take an EMT class if you like those kinds of stories. I think some of the instructors get off on telling those. Maybe it’s part of the weeding out process.
The best/worse one I heard was about the guy who died in his bathtub. He was there long enough that his body, exceptfor the bones, dissolved. The cops ran outside gagging. The paramedics put on gloves and went fishing in the soup to get all of the bones. They had to get those out first before pulling the plug.
Brings new meaning to the phrase pulling the plug on someone.
I hate it when that happens.
You knew the types of comments this thread would elicit before you even clicked it.

Exactly. The comments of those who think they are being "cute" or "funny" by making fun of tragedy are disgusting. How would you like to read such comments if it was your father, son, or husband who was tragically killed?
No kidding!
You know why he is here. He is trolling for people making jokes about the accident so he can look down his snout and berate everyone. People that don’t like dark humour can just KMA. At home my wife has to put up with me laughhing at the movie saw. :-)
