In a press release this afternoon, Club for Growth criticized Newt Gingrich for his attacks on Mitt Romneys career at Bain Capital, calling them unbecoming a Reagan Conservative. Club for Growths statement:
Yesterday, Gingrich said Those of us who believe in free markets and those of us who believe that in fact the whole goal of investment is entrepreneurship and job creation we find it pretty hard to justify rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company, leaving behind 1,700 families without a job. Gingrichs attack was echoed that same day that by the Democratic National Committee, which also attacked Romney for his job creation record at Bain Capital.
Newt Gingrichs attacks on Mitt Romneys record at Bain Capital are disgusting, said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. There are a number of issues for Mitt Romneys Republican opponents to attack him for, but attacking him for making investments in companies to create a profit for his investors is just wrong. Because of the efforts of Bain Capital, major companies like Staples, Dominos Pizza, and the Sports Authority now employ thousands of people and have created billions in wealth in the private economy. Attacking Governor Romney for participating in free-market capitalism is just beyond the pale for any purported Reagan Conservative. Newt Gingrich should stop his attacks on free markets and apologize to Governor Romney for them.
Great post! :O
“Romney is nothing but a white Obama with an R by his name.”
I disagree. Obama is actually very candid about his aversion to all things honest, normal and whole. Obama openly embraces the dark, whereas Romney pretends he does not. Romney adds hypocrisy to the void which defines both him and Obama.
My pleasure, Jazusamo! I love that cat graphic. He looks so happy!
Yeah he has committed political suicide for this year. I thought sitting on the couch with Pelosi might end him forever. That didn’t so who knows who if attacking capitalism even more directly will be enough.
Do you think Romney’s Mormonism has a superiority attitude? That it’s OK to steal the pension funds of the non-Mormon peasants. Do you think this runs through Roney’s mind?
“Throwing thousands of people out of work by viable businesses and then selling off the parts to make millions of dollars more for yourself and your friends is not CAPITALISM.”
So you think owners doing with their PROPERTY is not capitalism. [You do understand that “buying up” MEANS YOU OWN WHATEVER YOU BOUGHT UP.] Let me just say, you have little to no understanding was capitalism and free enterprise is then.
If I am poor I am sinning. If I am wealthy I am righteous. Mormonism runs on "works". "FLDS/LDS "Prophets" all the way back to Joseph Smith have preached this.
Romney literally thinks he was chosen before birth for wealth and power, probably because he was a valiant fighter in the war in heaven. Really.
He also believes he is doing God(s)'s will to relieve the simple, sinning poor workers from their pensions and jobs. He believes God(s)'s will make them wealthy once they accept Joseph Smith as a prophet.
Excellent! Thank you very much. I got the best ping list!
Sentienel’s post is accurate. I speak from experience as well.
In Mormonism, wealth and material success is proof that you are living the Mormon gospel and the fact that he is Mormon ‘royalty’ is generally thought to be proof that he was ‘valiant’ during the War in Heaven after Lucifer rebelled because God picked Jesus to be the Savior over him.
Thanks much for explaining this. I had no idea one way or the other. Kind of dismaying. On the bright side you have Mormons like John Huntsman Senior who made a few billion in chemicals and Styrofoam and is very charitable giver in cancer research etc

The technicolor eye of zot strikes again!
Kitty food!!
As it should! :)
Onward, ever onward!
Gingrich is right to stick it to Romney. If you drill down into what transpired at Bain you will understand that, while Bain did was legal, it was not honorable. As someone pointed out on another FR thread last night, what Bain did was akin to salting a mine. Buying up distressed companies, dolling them up enough to obtain investments and loans, strip out the cash, take the profit, and let them go bankrupt. Even pension funds were stripped. In some cases the Fed Gov/taxpayers had to back up the pension fund. In some cases, persons receiving pension benefits had their monthly pension checks reduced.
Legal, yes, but also heartless. Not the Christian/Mormon thing to do.
Also...Romney cast the first stone. Payback is a bitch!
I sure as hell am no Gingrich fa, but love him or hate him, he is a kick ass street fighter and the only one capable of beating Obama at this point. Obama sucks as a president, but he is corrupt, well organized and knows how to steel elections. Romney is clueless. If he gets the nomination he will have his ass handed to him by Obama in the general election
Dave's not here, man! Penance rejected. ZOT!
