Todd Palin Endorses Newt Gingrich
ABC News ^

Sarah Palins husband is endorsing Newt Gingrich for president, Todd Palin told ABC News today.
But Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and John McCains 2008 Republican running mate, has yet to decide who is best able to go up against Barack Obama, Todd Palin said.
Palin said he has not spoken to Gingrich or anyone from the former House speakers campaign. But he said he respects Gingrich for what he went through in the 1990s and compared that scrutiny in public life to what Sarah Palin went through during her run for the vice presidency.

Oh my goodness! Im thinking thats going to have an impact! No I am not being sarcastic. I truly think it will.

ABC loaded up the (short) article with partial sentence quotes, but conveniently left out an actual quote where Mr. Palin specifically says he has endorsed anyone. Therefore maybe he did and maybe he didn’t.
Glad to see FReepers don’t let that bother them as they trash each other based on a dubious ABC piece.

The Palins are trying to boost Gingrich, more will come, and a lot more will come if he moves up.

"Did you miss the first line of the excerpt? It says flat out it was an endorsement."
Here's the first line of the article:
Sarah Palins husband is endorsing Newt Gingrich for president, Todd Palin told ABC News today.
Notice how there is no quotations around that first line. Why? Because Todd never said it!! It's a summation of the article and very misleading. One of Sherlock Holmes favorite chidings of Dr. Watson is you see the same things I do, but you do not observe. I chide you with that. He may very well have meant it as an endorsement, but the article does not have quotes where he definitively is supporting Newt Gingrich. The article merely points out that he had some laudatory words for Newt. No endoresement. The article then goes on to take those laudatory remarks and expounds upon them. That's not a reporters job to make the news. It is to report it and by the remarks given, Todd Palin did not endorse him.

"Todd and his intimate cooperative media relationship with his wifes political image as one of being a neophyte with the media."
How many interviews with major media outlets has Todd given? Not his wife, Todd. It's very different to be standing by while your wife is interviewed and to be under the spotlight yourself having to think on the spot, cameras rolling while questions are being asked of you.

When during her 20 years in politics has Todd ever been anything but an asset to Sarah.
The Palins are clearly backing Gingrich.

Todd has been very active in her campaigns, traveling and speaking on his own, You are way off base thinking that Todd Palin is some new guy to all this, a beginner.
Todd has been involved in this stuff for decades, and a Republican vice presidential race and the tea parties sure put them in the national spotlight over the last few years.
The Palins are clearly backing Newt.

This jealousy makes it my job to imitate Sarah, by stating the already obvious and making futile stabs at sounding insightful and politically astute on matters beyond my comprehension and experience. If some sucker wants to pay me to hear me parrot platitudes to hide my lack of originality, and wants to buy my crap, ie., bumper stickers, books, videos and paraphenalia, and then wash it down with sending cash to my PAC, all the better. I’m jealous I can’t do that, but you hang right in there.

A sort of endorsement from Palin’s husband... That is not going to amount to much. Honestly, after all the non-campaigning bus touring they were doing all over Iowa and New Hampshire, and that movie about her all the conservatives were watching, and the months spent flirting with the nomination (sucking media oxygen away from other potential candidates)... This does not excite me.
She should be running and winning and leading, not dropping endorsement hints from the sidelines through her husband...

"Todd has been very active in her campaigns, traveling and speaking on his own, You are way off base thinking that Todd Palin is some new guy to all this, a beginner."
When I talked about Todd being a neophyte, it was in the context of being interviewed by a major media outlet. As you did not come back and give examples of all the times this has happened, I assume you agree he does not have a lot of experience at this. I agree that he has lots of experience, campaigning with his wife and speaking. That's not the same as being interviewed by a media hostile to you. For an example, refer to Sarah Palin being interviewed (ambushed might be a better word) by Katie Curic. That would not happen to the Sarah Palin of 2012. She would shred Curic in the same setting. In 2008, Sarah had years of experience speaking and campaigning. Did not prepare her for being twisted around in an interview by a hostile media.
"The Palins are clearly backing Newt."
You might be right, but the article does not give us the facts to support that.
To: DTogo
Yes, endorsement. You don't fill out paperwork to endorse, you simply approve of them publicly. Definition of ENDORSE transitive verb 2a : to approve openly ; especially : to express support or approval of publicly and definitely

What’s your point? Miller won the primary.
To: US Navy Vet
This is dumb. How embarrassing for Newt. lol. Gosh I can’t wait to hear who Marcus Bachmann endorses. I absolutely love Sarah 100 percent and want her President of the United States but I would not elect or support her husband to anything. The highest position I think he should get would be First Dude and that is it.

LOL
After 20 years of politics and living through a vice Governors race, a Governorship, and a Republican Presidential race as the veep couple, and 3 years of tea party leadership, Todd is no neophyte whether we dig up his 20 years of interviews or not, something that I won’t bother with.
This interview solidly, contributes to the other signals that the Palins have been sending for weeks, the Palins are backing Gingrich.
