Given that he beat them both in Iowa plus Bachmann...

The wildcard in NH will be Huntsman. if he can do a santorum in New Hampshire he would seriously damage Romney, because i believe they are going after the same voters. If huntsman can close to say maybe 20% this could be a 4 way split with Gingrich cashing in a little on the Manchester Leader endorsement.

N.H. Numbers
RCP Average 12/21 - 1/3
41.0 Romney
18.3 Paul
12.5 Newt
10.0 Huntsman
4.3 Santorum
4.0 Bachmann
2.3 Perry

The polling in Iowa was accurate so I would imagine these number are accurate too. Adding everyone up yeilds 93 so not a lot of undecided here. Looks like Ronmey is safe, might turn into a race between Paul and Newt. Can Huntsman hold off a Santorum surge? And where does Bachmanns' 4% go?

"Bachmann is out, her supporters will go Santorum.

Why do you think that? I thought Bachmann was a fiscal conservative and her issues were spending and debt.

Barf Alert: John McCain just endorsed Romney. Anyone surprised?

Not really because he endorsed Obama last election.

Iowa results have not yet been factored in to this poll.

I believe Santorum will see a surge nationally before too long as well. It will be slower than at the state level, but looks to me as though it’s going to happen.

Yes, it is inaccurate to describe anyone in single digits as “surging”.

Yes! I hope the New Hampshire Romney crowd doesn’t boo Newt too badly, but I suspect they will, because Romney is their homey lib.

Newt has picked up some great endorsements. The SC majority leader being one of them. Now, Gingrich is taking off the gloves and will expose Mitt in the next debate. Romney may be the media darling and the gop establishment darling but so far he has been given a free pass. Those days are coming to an abrupt end.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEWT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT

Santorum has not really been vetted yet. He has also been given a free pass because of his low polling numbers until Iowa. However, do not forget Santorum voted to RAISE THE DEBT CEILING EIGHT TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!! he voted for the bridge to nowhere in Alaska. Stay tuned for more on his earmark record. Rick Santorum is a good man on social issues..but NOT a fiscal conservative. Newt is a fiscal conservative. GOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEWT!!!!!!!!!!!

The Santorum surge is real and it is guaranteed to give us Romney.

I hate to say this, but this makes exactly ZERO sense after the showing Santorum had last night. He should have gotten at least a small bump nationally. That's why Gallup is suspect for me.

I hate to say this, but this makes exactly ZERO sense after the showing Santorum had last night. He should have gotten at least a small bump nationally.

This poll was conducted entirely before the Iowa caucus.

Since it is a tracking poll over the course of a week or so, it takes several days for the full effect of recent events to be reflected.

Gallup has shown Santorum surging from 4% to 5% to 6% to 8% in their last four installments.

The latest shows Santorum at 8% on average over the past week, which likely means he was at 10-11% nationally on the day of the caucus.

Following his performance in Iowa his numbers will likely rise into the teens.
