Liberal talk show host Alan Colmes sunk to new a new low when he said on Fox News that former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum took his deceased baby home to 'play with it.'
Noting that the GOP has "speed-dated" every other candidate, Colmes said voters should "get a load" of what he called the "crazy things" Santorum has said and done.
"Like taking his two-hour old baby who died right after childbirth home and played with it for a couple hours so his other children would know it was real, I mean..."
At this point, Fox News contributor Rich Lowry tore into Colmes, calling his statement a "cheap shot."
Lowry lambasted Colmes for "mocking" the death of Santorum's child and said it was beneath the liberal talker, sometimes known as "Skeletor" among some conservatives

I understand the Santorums completely. There was a miscarriage in my family. Didn’t get a chance to say hello or goodbye.

Not really. Look no further than post #29 for evidence. Plus most of us here reading the thread took note to the objectionable nature of #27. At the very least it was in poor taste, especially the folks here, like me, who have had experiences in this area.

Prior to my daughter being removed from life support, we brought our other children to her bedside and spent many hours holding her. Her sister painted her nails.
A story was read to her - we all talked to her and said goodbye.
I will never be able to understand the hatred from the left.
If our daughter had been a newborn, and we had been closer to home - I can certainly understand what the Santorum family did.
Liberals hate babies - especially newborns.
They hate large families.
What could possibly incense them more than a large catholic family grieving over a “clump of cells”?
Let them keep it up and reveal who they truly are.
This is why they have to lie to America every four years. Most decent people have no idea how hateful they are.

Catholics do wakes. I am not saying that is what they would consider this infant homecoming to be, but at the very least such an event isn’t foreign to Catholic culture, and it was prior to the private Funeral Mass in the home.
Sometimes its hard to find closure in the absence of ever a reception, or an acknowledgement of an existence.

However, his mention of this...AFTER Santorum brought it into the public square is FAIR GAME.

MOST people think this is very weird...and that'll be enough that they'll never vote for him.

They are thouroughbreds in their Faith and witnesses for it. It’s hard, I know, but it is right.
People in their 60s and 70s heard stories from their parents, aunts and uncles about their baby siblings born at home, and in the case of stillborn or infant deaths, being laid out and mourned at home, in the "parlor"-- what we would call the "front room" or "living room."
Oh I see, you are conceding..my bad, but fortuneatly, most Americans have hearts..and I don’t think this will hurt him at all.
God bless you in your loss, I too lost a son at age 24, you never get over the loss of a child. Grief takes many forms, and cannot be explained to the ignorant.
I see nothing wrong in what the Santorums did or did not do, it was grief of a little baby, and was a personal decision for them whatever they did. Even if they made it public, some things just do not need a negative response.
It kinda sad how many people either forgot or were unaware of the most basic and ‘normal’ ‘funeral’ things ‘we’ did not 100 years ago.
A 5 min. search on Google would likely blow many minds.

Santorum's wife has worked as an intensive care neonatal nurse for 9 years. She mentioned this is a book she authored about her experiences.
Colmes is and always has been a loser.
What is the point of giving someone who is a loser - AND has no concept of appropriate behaviour- national airtime?
