Gingrich: 'I feel Romney-boated'
Ap-(Pravda) ^ | 1-1-12 | S.McCafterty

Struggling to reverse a slide in his standing, Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich said Sunday he'd been "Romney-boated" in Iowa and suggested his GOP rival would buy the presidency if he could.

The sharp words against Mitt Romney, a multimillionaire many times over who is in strong contention to win Iowa, come two days before voters here weigh in on the Republican field. It was part of a stepped-up effort by Gingrich to contrast himself with Romney, and the candidate said he would adopt an even more aggressive strategy when the race moves to New Hampshire, the former Massachusetts governor's backyard.

Gingrich's nautical attack was a reference to a 2004 TV ad campaign by a group called the "Swiftboat Veterans for Truth" that bloodied Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. This year, Gingrich has faced an onslaught of negative TV advertisements by a group aligned with Romney.

Asked Sunday whether he felt that he had been "swiftboated," Gingrich replied, "I feel Romney-boated."

It was his second swipe of the day at the Republican frontrunner.

Speaking to reporters after attending morning Mass at the St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines, Gingrich said the amount Romney will eventually spend on his various campaigns will rival the spending of billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

"Romney would buy the election if he could," Gingrich said.

Every GOP candidate has been backstabbed by
saboteurs for the vicious, coward Romney.

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++8 pts. days prior to September 18th, 2008.
So the RomneyTeam attacked Gov. Palin and her children to throw Election2008.

Romney for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Strongly dislike Gingrich’s implication that the 2004 Swift Boat ads were false or improper.

I’d heard that Newt’s first ex-wife was campaigning for him. If that’s true, she must think he’s OK for the job.

Really, why are so many of you falling for this man???

I have asked that same question many times.

If he was such a wonder, why did it take 5 months after he announced his run for him to ever get to double digits? The only reason seems to be the Cain dropped out and Gingrich was the next in line to be flavor of the week.

Considering how much he has dropped in the polls in IA in DAYS, many seem to be taking a second look and NOT liking what they thought they saw the first time.

The article I saw was that Mrs. Gingrich #1 refused to comment out of deference to her daughters and grandchildren. The information I got came from the published court documents and the comments of the Baptist deacon who helped pick up the pieces after divorce #1.

The only two who didn’t renege on the debate w/Trump as the moderator where Newt and Santorum. That sets those two apart already. The others showed they can’t handle debating except with what they feel comfortable with. Not rocket science to figure out why.

You said “renege.” When did any candidate ever agree to that debate in the first place? You have to agree to something initially in order for a later decision against it to be “reneging” on the agreement.

Evidence is sufficient, but we should move towards the most effective possible steps to reduce carbon looting of the atmosphere. ... And do it urgently, yes.

Beating Romney is so easy even McCain did it.

Romney ran last time. It was his turn. McCain ran the time before that. It was his turn... Dole had run before. It was his turn. Bush had run before. It was his turn. Reagan had run before. It was his turn. Notice a pattern?

PNSN, Happy new year—Newt does well it debates- and his numbers rise thereafter— You’re right as to the fact that most don’t wish wants to engage in debates- they obviously prefer to deal in negative ads.

Newt has was part of Reagonomics.

Also, he was the first and only recent Republican or Democrat to balance the budget.

LEADERS MAKE THINGS POSSIBLE. EXCEPTIONAL LEADERS make them inevitable. Newt Gingrich belongs in the category of the exceptional.

All year—ruthlessly, brilliantly, obnoxiously—he worked at hammering together inevitabilities: a balanced federal budget, for one. Not so long ago, the idea of a balanced budget was a marginal, we'll-get-to-it-someday priority. Other urgent work needed doing: the Clintons’ health-care program, for example, which would have installed elaborate new bureaucratic machinery. Today, because of Newt Gingrich, the question is not whether a balanced-budget plan will come to pass but when.

Gingrich has changed the center of gravity. From Franklin Roosevelt onward, Americans came to accept...

iowamark can speak for himself, but still not buying your argument. Funny how we all loved Rove in 2000-04 and now he is the GOP boogey man. If thats the case than GW was the establishment choice. I could buy that considering what he did to us all in his second term. At the end of the day, we got screwed again with our choices.

He comes off as a whiner.

I agree with you. Newt spends all his time complaining that he's being picked on. Why doesn't he spend his time refuting what they're saying instead of whining. He' grating on my nerves.

I'm getting sick of all the whiners here on FR. They all think someone is out to get them. I'm even getting tired of listening to Rush whine about the press and "the establishment".

Good grief, suck it up and beat them all at their own games. All the whining in the world is not going to change anything.

You mean the woman who seduced Newt when he was 16? His teacher?

I’ll pass on her opinions.

Well excuse me - they were offered the chance to show voters their strength with their knowledge and leadership qualities and THEY TURNED DOWN THE OFFER for 'their own' benefit and not for the benefit of voters. That says volumes to me. Is that better? I'm speaking to conservatives here - not nit pick liberals - where everything must be spelled out for them - lest a word throws them off. I'll meet you on the WORD forum and we can debate if you want.

When did any candidate ever agree to that debate in the first place?

When Newt and Santorum were offered the opportunity - THEY ALONE agreed to it. Geez!

They could not stand up to the scrutiny of a real debate - unlike the same little sound bites they used over and over in the liberal media driven debates. Where the more knowledgeable ones were limited and a safety zone for the liberal flip flopper and the crazy. That crapola wouldn’t fly in an adult debate.

What I call understanding the meaning of an English word, you call nitpicking.

Sounds like YOU are the liberal here.

Can you post a link to reliable documentation of that charge? I did note that they were married when he was 19 and she was 26, noting she had been his former high school geometry teacher. I did see the Esquire article, but could not find a charge that she had inappropriate contact while he was a student under 18. I certainly do not condone contact between a teacher and under age pupil (or any high school student, for that matter.) I also note that Mr. Gingrich was an adult (19) when he entered into a valid marriage. I would further add that wife #2's comments in the Esquire article increase my concerns over Mr. Gingrich's suitability to be POTUS.

I would note that CNN posted an in-depth article on the first divorce, including links to the original court documents that I read in full. After reading the original documents I have and the quotes from those familiar with both divorces, I simply cannot trust Mr. Gingrich's character. There simply has to be an ethical conservative Republican candidate. For me, that is not Mr. Gingrich.

Each of us must do our own homework and then follow our conscience.
