Is a Santorum Surprise About to Upset the 2012 Republican Primary?
Catholic Online ^ | 12/31/11 | Keith A Fournier

The day we stop fighting for the unborn child, or fighting to protect the sanctity of marriage, expel God from the public square, or decide we will no longer enforce the laws of our land, is the day we surrender all our founding fathers created. I believe what makes America exceptional is not just our economic potential or our remarkable innovation, but the fact that we are a moral enterprise. As President, I will protect America's moral foundation, empower American families and build America's economic freedom. And I won't compromise on my values to do it." (Rick Santorum)

(EXCERPTS)

....I have heard it before; it happens every four years. They say "Do not insist on the "social" issues, just trust the Republicans". Translated - trust the establishment Republicans. Another refrain is, "just elect them to office and they will be better than the Democrats".

These voices often promise that the establishment candidate will be more "Pro- life" than "those Democrats" and that they will defend marriage and protect religious freedom. They do it with a smile; a wink and a nod. I do not know about you..but I am not buying it.

...Here is some of what Santorum has said recently: "The day we stop fighting for the unborn child, or fighting to protect the sanctity of marriage, expel God from the public square, or decide we will no longer enforce the laws of our land, is the day we surrender all our founding fathers created."

"I believe what makes America exceptional is not just our economic potential or our remarkable innovation, but the fact that we are a moral enterprise. As President, I will protect America's moral foundation, empower American families and build America's economic freedom. And I won't compromise on my values to do it."

A couple hundred grand? That is a drop in the bucket.

VP is not well respected and yesterday there was a post on TIR that said the only ones who believe the whole episode did not happen are the hard core BVP fans.

Come on. First you criticize Santorum for suggesting that he bought an endorsement. Then, you criticize him for having no money. Both of these criticisms are laughers.

I agree everybody wants the others to drop out and leave their man standing.

But being viable in Iowa doesn’t translate to being viable for America at least not in the case of Rick Santorum.

(just my opinion, of course.)

Well, yeah, if only people would do what we say.

If only people would all drop out and endorse Perry, but they seem to feel that they should stay in and their supporters feel that they should stay in.

Nobody seems to want Newt to drop out and endorse somebody. The mantra here is that he’s the only one who can beat Obama.

I choose to disagree.

That’s one of the things Perry is running on.

Less government. They just sitting around thinking of things to do to tax us, hurt industry, and generally annoy us.

Texas is run with a part-time legislature. Perry has things in place. Texas is just fine. We will happily excuse him to run to help the whole country prosper as Texas does.

I would hate to even imagine this nation with the face of Texas....no thank you. Foreigners of the ME persuasion filling it's cities in droves, and that by invitation and encouragement from Perry as President! ....nope..nadda.

Perry's idea of the Islamic/Muslim threat is to let them build more of their bases/Mosques next to every church. And he basically said just that. He hasn't a clue of the Islamaic agenda to this country in fact he's aiding it.

The best ticket would be Santorum and Perry, with Sarah as Sec of EPA.

Please pay close attention to what I am going to say. I NEVER said Santorum bought an endorsement and as a matter of fact, I said I believed no money changed hands.

I do believe there was an attempt by BVP to get Santorum to help raise the money in exchange for the endorsement.

Santorum couldn't have paid for the endorsement if he wanted to because he has no money.

Besides, I give Santorum more credit than to even suggest he would have considered buying the endorsement.

“Nobody seems to want Newt to drop out and endorse somebody. The mantra here is that he’s the only one who can beat Obama.”

He’s actually leading in polls outside of the twin nut states of Iowa and NH.

So why should he?

That should tell you it takes more than saying nice things to get votes. It takes presence, personality, and money. He has none of those.
Perhaps this is why our government and society is so corrupt. I'd rather have a boring president with integrity than someone who looks good on TV and will toss his wife (or the people) under the bus when it serves his ambition. You can tell a person's true values when it costs them something. Just saying...

People are getting really silly with this drop out thing.

After the first two primaries, I predict that Michele and Santorum will drop out. Is Huntsman still running?

But they won’t drop out because of what someone says here.

I think that Santorum is our only hope. He is truly an extraordinary man, and we’d be wise to circle the wagons around him at this moment. Bob

I’m sorry, but for some unknown reason I really dislike Santorum, no idea why.

It’s something about the way he looks, that smile of his, I don’t know, but it makes me want to slap him and always has. Plus, I have hated him and Bachmann the entire season for constantly attacking anyone but Romney that showed promise.

That is such a clueless and wrong post, it’s not worth responding to.

So why am I?

People and businesses are flocking to Texas. Guess they are too dumb to see it with the clarity of a fine mind like you display here.

This country is so f2cked up and yes this is a first check mark for a candidate. But to say Santorum is our based on his pro-life status is crazy. He is like eating a stale cracker.

Correct, the truth is Santorum could easily win, old insane McCain was fourth in Iowa.

Support him if you will, he will get Romney nomiated, it is the best he can do. He splits the votes, I have seen this story before.

I've heard this crap before, last time was 2008. "Hold your nose" and vote for someone you don't like and don't want to be president. Doing this produced the McCain debacle. Their are two groups who want this. The Democrats because they know they can win against someone who conservatives need to "hold their nose" to vote for, and the Republican establishment who knows they will lose all power if conservatives are successful.

Self doubt is the enemy of conservatives. Do what is right, support those who are right, fight as hard as you can and accept that you won't win every battle. Leave the "triangulation" for the Roves and Boehners of the world. They will eventually be defeated.
