NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Don't worry, Gingrich supporters -- despite the falling poll numbers in Iowa over the last week, your guy remains most likely to win the Republican nomination. Let me explain why and how.
First of all, let's stipulate that this race isn't about the issues anymore. Newt Gingrich's positions are mostly similar to Mitt Romney's positions, both of whom are to the left of most of the other candidates, such as Perry and Bachmann in particular.
A few days before the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses, people have come to peace with the candidates' ideological positions, and it's all about electability and willingness of primary voters to cast the ballot. The conventional wisdom is of course that Romney is the most "electable" candidate, and that is probably true in some sense. But only in some. Romney clearly has many fine merits, including years of being vetted, having a distinguished business background, a first-class family, and he is a generally very smart and polished man.

Oh brother!
Realclearpolitics still shows Gingrich with an 18.2% lead in Florida...but it ain’t over til its over, of course.
He could single-handedly in a four year term re-educate the American public on the uniqueness and greatness of America.
Amen
Opposites?
Sure, two sides of the same coin.
Your analysis is the exact reason, I’m voting Perry. Perry has the record we need plus he has the money to continue on. Santorum has neither.
Read the excellent article Gingrich published in the WSJ this morning. (I can’t post it because I’m not a subscriber, but maybe somebody else could.)
It is truly inspiring but very practical and shows his plan for making America prosperous and a great and happy place to live again.
You mean LIBERAL SW Florida........The rest of the state has Newt in a very solid lead.
(I know, you don’t want to hear that. You would rather see Romney win just because you hate Newt so much.)
What does the tiny print at the bottom of the image say?
I should have said THE Kenyan.. btw my grandmother was born there in 1908 when it was called British East Africa and her father was employed there as an engineer
Bingo, but Romney is the key to getting rid of Obama when people remember that women will VOTE for Romney.
Gingrich won't get the same support from women, and will thereby lose to Obama.
Don't underestimate the women's vote, as they are what America needs to remove Obama.
“Sure, two sides of the same coin.”
Totally wrong.
Romney’s euro pales in comparison to Gingrich’s silver dollar.
The other possibility is a third party candidate. If Paul he will take votes from democrats. If Trump he may draw from republicans and Democrats.
The most recent poll of Florida was from the first week of December.
Since then Gingrich's numbers have crashed in Iowa and nationally.
All of the post-Iowa polling with change drastically after Iowa, and again after New Hampshire.
That's why I have focused my attention on the trend of Iowa polling, which indicates strong movement for Santorum over the past two weeks.

A lot has changed in just one day.........
Nationally, Gingrich maintains frontrunner status last I heard.
Did we change to a national primary and nobody told me?
National polls mean nothing, especially pre-Iowa and pre-NH.
Right now, “Conservatives”, are acting very stupidly, at the last second, all are running to Santorum, being completely ignorant of the facts, that Santorum has absolutely NO chance of winning. (Similar to 2008)
Santorum is out of money, has missed entering most of the Primary states and won't be on the ballot, has no organization in any of those states. But this won't stop the idiots from this chaotic, knee-jerk, reactionary and compulsive behavior.
No wonder the Democrats are laughing their tails off. This is a SHIP OF FOOLS, (Titanic) full speed ahead, but can't see very far, because that Iceberg in front of them, keeps blocking their view.
