Prior to 1900 pink was a boy color as it was a pale red which was a strong masculine color and blue was a girl color as it was the color of the Virgin Mary.
So the idea that pink is naturally a "girl" color and blue is naturally a "boy" color is not in it's self natural.
Explain.
I have 2 granddaughters, 5 and 3.
One is going to be a princess, the little one is gonna be a biker and a rock climber. She can face-climb El Cabinet in world record time.
Interesting. Anyone know why pink is always the packaging color for skim milk?
I have one sister who flirted with feminism. She gave my six year old son a doll when she came to visit. He thanked her but shot me a look that said she was nuts.
Later, he was building a robot from parts of toys on a remote controlled car base with a trash can body. He took the head off the doll and put it on his robot. I sent my sister a picture. :)

Usually red cap is whole and blue is 2% but after that it is Katie bar the door as to what color they use. Pink, light blue, gold, yellow, purple, white, amazingly enough this is one area where the US Gov has not stuck in their dear little noses. Please don't give them any ideas!
Having said that usually all milk in a area comes from one or two dairies (ignore the labels) and they tend to code their caps the same so as not to confuse their customers.

When my daughter was little I gave her both types of toys and let her decide. She chose the girlie stuff herself. She has always been a capable woman as an adult - cutting and laying her own tile and building things. When she was in high school, she played 3/4 of a basketball game, then showered and dressed for half time to be chosen and crowned as homecoming queen.
Her toddler daughter (4) is all princess. She spends most of her time dressed as one and has an obsession with crowns and shoes. But she is very much a tom boy once you get her outside.
It is a shame there are not more dress up things for boys. They like to twirl when they dance at age three just as much as the girls.
All right. Now someone explain the deal about girls and their shoes.

When my second daughter was three, she preferred the ballerina and double holster cap gun look. Yes, she wanted to be a ballerina/princess, but a well-armed one.
We encouraged her well-developed worldview.

Weird, I always thought it was the same everywhere. In MN pink is skI’m and blue is 2%.
Speaking of, how come there isnt a 3%?
