So, that’s the reason for the “lack of address” elimination.
Addresses did not match their database! Voters move in between elections!
“Voters move in between elections!”
When you move, RE REGISTER!!
onyx, the news couldnt be any worse. I am so sick. Iowa seems to have been so drawn out and I wasn’t expecting Newt to win in NH but believed he would have a good showing and take VA...how could this happen? Paul is a expert at running for president..what is this? the 3rd time? and Romney ran in the 2008 election so they are familiar with the political machine. The MONEY they both have is mind boggling. Would love to see the list of their contributors. LOOKS like I wont be able to vote for president in this elecion. I am sick, sick, sick.
Yeah, onyx. I was just assuming it was bad ground game, but this is really, really fishy.
They’ve NEVER cross-checked signatures before, and suddenly all of these Mitt-backers in charge of the process in VA are requiring every signature be cross-checked with a database for correct addresses? Not even just to see if they are, in fact, registered voters, but they have to have correct addresses?
What constitutes an incorrect address? What if they just left off the zip code? How does having a different address prove you’re not a registered voter?
This was a very well-organized act by Team Romney to disqualify everyone. As I have said before: Virginia is winner-take-all. EVERYONE in VA should vote for Ron Paul now to deny Mitt Romney ANY delegates. These guys should NOT be rewarded for this absolute crock of steaming crap.
Aha. Now we are learning something. The address check was done by computer. For the first time. The result: *ALL* candidates who applied for certification were rejected (Romney and Ron Paul were grandfathered in from 2008).
It’s a process problem. Could be due to an overly-strict address match algorithm. For example if your actual street address is “1234 N Main St” but you wrote down “1234 Main” you got rejected.
>> Addresses did not match their database! Voters move in between elections!
Not only that, but I bet they have a dumb (or selectively smart?) algorithm that thinks “101 First Street” and “101 FIRST ST” are different addresses.
I smell either an idiot, or a rat.
What if the database was wrong?
Is there an appeals procedure?
The Fix is in—Its Mittens or Ron Paul all others need not apply. They must select someone Obama can beat.
“Voters move in between elections!”
True, except VA had a general election last month. We also had a primary in August. Because of intervening redistricting, all registered voters got new Voter ID cards issued in October. My family moved since the last presidential election and our voter registration cards came to the current address. The rolls are pretty up to date.

And then theres this:
The VA GOP published a letter that announced that any candidate who submitted a petition with more than 15,000 signatures would not be checked (shall be deemed to have met the threshold for qualification and will be certified).
The letter is at http://www.rpv.org/sites/default/files/2012%20Petition%20Certification%20Process_1.pdf
Romney submitted 16,000 signatures. Newt submitted 12,000.
Both Newt and Rick Perry reportedly turned in over 10,000 signatures before the deadline. But it looks like the rules were changed mid-game. This doesnt pass the smell test.”
No, rules changed mid-game certainly does NOT pass the smell test.
