First I’ve heard that the N. Korean military has raised its alert status. However, it doesn’t sound like they have necessarily mobilized in any sense of the word except to tighten up security in the cities.
North Korea raises security, has troops on alert: South Korea intel
Dec 21, 2011, 03.05PM IST
PYONGYANG: North Korea has tightened security in cities, put troops on alert and won loyalty pledges from top generals after leader Kim Jong Il’s death as it consolidates power behind his anointed heir, South Korean intelligence indicated Wednesday.
South Korea has put its military on high alert. In another sign of border tension, Chinese boatmen along a river separating North Korea and China told The Associated Press that North Korean police have ordered them to stop giving rides to tourists, saying they will fire on the boats if they see anyone with cameras.
South Korean military officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of office policies that restrict comment on intelligence matters, confirmed that North Korea has ordered its troops to be vigilant but said that doesn’t mean they’re being moved.
Unification Ministry spokesman Choi Bo-seon said in a briefing Wednesday that the government hasn’t spotted particular troop movements in North Korea. Military officials said they also haven’t noticed serious developments.

Interesting read about the nuclear command and control of North Korea in the wake of Kim Jong-Il’s death. Lots of informed speculation, but without hard intel - that’s about as good as it gets. Scary thought.
Who Has North Koreas Nuclear Football? Few Have Answer
Dec. 20, 2011
By Elaine M. Grossman
Global Security Newswire
WASHINGTON — On the heels of North Korean leader Kim Jong Ils death, outside experts seem more uncertain than ever about who retains control over the hermit nations nuclear weapons or authority for their potential use (see GSN, Dec. 19).

I ran across
this chart of the Kim family tree. According to it Kim Jong Il has seven kids and Kim Jong Un is the sixth. They've only got pictures of four of them. Kim Jong Nam has apparently been busy since he has, accord to this, six kids by three women. Any idea how accurate it is? Are the three siblings not pictured women? I know Kim Jong Nam is living in Macao. Will he be returning for the funeral? Where is the other boy pictured, Kim Jong Chol? I'm pretty sure I saw his name on the list of 200+ funeral officials.

I thought Kim Jong Il had died some time ago, as reported by Team America? (People believe the fiction that Barrak Hussein Obama is a constitutional president, so I guess I had to readjust my reality quotient and previously thought Jong was already dead.......you just can't believe the news these days.)/S

Hah!
Just saw this headline...
|
Reuters - 35 minutes ago
By Mark Hosenball | WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The US government got its first warning North Korean leader Kim Jong-il had died from an intelligence unit that monitors media reporting around the world, two US officials said.
|
And I thought - Nope. The US learned it from Free Republic and specifically TigerLikesRooster. Who FReeped it long before any of the networks knew about it.

Intelligence failure on Kim's death is also a hot topic in S. Korean media, too. That goes to show that Chicom kept the news for themselves, which they reportedly learned a day earlier.

"Too many toys. Not enough boys."
Our intelligence apparatus is a disgrace and in a shambles, both under Bush and Obama, but exceedingly so under Obama.

Ah, Princess Tenko. 板仓満里子 The slightly S/M Japanese magician-ette.
One truly wonders if she is 在日朝鮮人 due to her exclusive affinity to giving shows in the DPRK, and further, if she perhaps slept with Kim Jong il or supplied him with a stead stream of "Lewinsky"'s. It is a wonder she was not kidnapped up there. She did end up in a DPRK hospital and given treatment by Kim Jong il's finest medical team, one suspects she was poisoned, they helped her, and then she was given the offer of staying in Pyongyang indefinitely. (If I were her, I would not play with fire so close). Anyway, what an idiot. She went on about all kinds of private details on Japanese TV on Monday night, so she truly knew about Kim Jong il personally, the level of medical attention he was getting, his personality, likes and dislikes, etc. etc. To be invited to his state funeral as a Japnese National (and to also express remorse over his death) shows this Japanese entertainer is truly bought off and if I were with the Prime Ministers office in charge of counterintelligence matters, she would be on my "list" for sure, no doubt. Perhaps though she can be in information courier upon returning from the Peoples Paradise and can be adequately interrogated and debriefed by Japanese and friendly nation agencies.

SK authorities believe that she is Kim Yeo-jung, a daughter of Kim Jong-il, the youngest child from his late wife Ko Yong-hee, the others being Jung-chol and Jong-eun.
