The misery of U.S. joblessness has everyone’s attention, but in the African American community, high unemployment has been the norm for 50 years, in good times and bad.
A new report by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) is calling for federal intervention to break the cycle that has kept the jobless rate among African Americans at twice the rate among whites.
The three-part plan includes the creation of public-sector jobs, job training with job placement programs and wage subsidies for employers.
EPI urges federal implementation of the program in counties and metropolitan areas of 25,000 people or more that have suffered unemployment of 6 percent or more for the the past 10 years.
Says Algernon Austin, director of EPI’s Race, Ethnicity and the Economy program and the report’s author:
Our economy should be one in which everyone who wants to work can find a job.

It is Federal intervention that has caused the problem...how can they possibly solve the problem?
Hopefully that number will increase by one next November...
You would think,obama,reid,pelosi,would get a clue,guess not.

Liberals have always believed African-Americans cannot help themselves.
And they’ve made sure that that will be true so that they can be kept on the plantation....forevah.
What was the neary trillion dollar stimulus if not federal intervention? What was the war on poverty, begun by LBJ when I was a child (I’m now 51) if not federal intervention? What was AFDC, TANIF, CETA, JTPA, WIA, Food Stamps, Head Start, WIN, Promise Jobs, EOC, Job Corps, WIC, AmeriCorps and Affirmative Action if not federal intervention?
And 95% of them voted for hope and change...
There are no jobs for them anymore. Due to automation, computerization and cheap Chinese imports. They are a poorly edumacated labor surplus along with some other people in the good old USA. What kind of Gov’t jobs would be dreamt up for them? Leaf raker? Snow shoveler? Lint examiner? BBQ wings taster?
That’s painting with an awfully broad brush. I’ve known a lot of hard-working, educated and motivated black people in the Army and since then. I also know a lot of shiftless, lazy, doped-up whites that I wouldn’t hire to mop a floor at McDonalds.
And so we see the obama,reid,pelosi agenda,it’s not about freedom,it’s about unions.
Wow! What a great idea. I wonder why we have never tried this before? We should have known that black unemployment was due to an inadequate number of government programs to help blacks.
I guess it just took a colossal intellect like O-blame-a to figure it out.
African-Americans want to change their employment situation?
They can start by voting out the incompetent idiot sitting in the White House ..... or is he still on vacation in Hawaii?
For all I care, the 95% of them that voted for Obama can eat from dumpsters, right along side of the white loons that voted for the filthy bastard.

There was this cultural rift that sort of started in about 1960 something. Political Correctness and a victim's society was introduced. Nothing was fair, make love not war. We should cherish the real American Heritage, the Indians. The colonists were bad. The instigators of the Revolutionary war were ungrateful. We should embrace other country's cultures as our own. Kumbaya.......
What else? Oh yea, there was contemptuous riots because Democrats kept blocking segregation reform. The welfare entitlements started to find stride after the new deal. And later, we went to war to provide a synergistic cause to embrace our cultural revolt.
I can't figure out why entire segments of our population have been in doldrums for 50 years. Maybe some believed the BS and just got stuck in the ideals of the time. Then they passed those same attitudes on to their offspring and government subsidized dependence became genetic.
How about they just get off their lazy asses and stop blaming the crackas for all of their problems.
Report: People of any skin color will not work if they get more in welfare benefits. Why work if you get “free” money?
