It’s an open question how many judges will be on the bench when they review Obamacare.

"“I trust the people of the states to make those decisions, I trust those independent school districts to make those decisions better than eight unelected and, frankly, unaccountable judges." -- Gov. Rick Perry

Supreme Court Justices (8) ended school prayer: Abington School District v. Schempp -- With one dissenting vote.

I have my doubts about this.

Perry was speaking about prayer in school. He mentioned 8 judges.
Afterwards, his team did some research, had to go back as far as 1963, and found a case involving Bible reading in school (close enough, right?) that was decided 8-to-1. And then Team Perry announces that this is what Gov. Perry was talking about.

I dunno ...

Nice bit of spin, but he still got Sotomayor’s name wrong. You can’t spin your way out of that one.

I was going to say that with at least one of them being more of an Oboma puppet/lobbyist than judge he was right.

Having read the article I cannot.

Here Perry displays his creepiness factor again, I refuse to tolerate a Theocracy, no matter what sect is being anointed, or to vote for anyone supporting such.

So the Perry sticker I had intended to put on my car today, not going to happen.

With Perry and Romney dead to me, the field is narrowing.

Gingrich is not making me happy either, he seems confused as to what he really supports and what he opposes, changing from day to day.

So far it looks like the republican party is trying to surrender the election to Hussein!
Hoping for a serious candidate to appear soon.

According to media, Perry is a dolt!

I remember a REAL dolt who said we have 57 states, but that didn't mean diddly to the media who gush over the faux Messiah's IQ.

Perry would make a much superior President to Obama or Romdiddly in my humble opine.

Seriously, he needs to be tested for certain crippling progressive mental disease.

I trust those independent school districts to make those decisions better than eight unelected and, frankly, unaccountable judges.*******

Given that Perry had earlier noted a case in 1962 which was in fact decided wrongly by 8 justices the explanation does seem to fit the discussion.

Yes it was an 8 - 1 decision. That is Perry continuing to be himself by not making it clear for all who aren't aware of the almost 50 year old decision.

Did you perhaps see the interview? It was played in full on CSPAN last night and maybe scheduled again. Perry to me is off putting with his continual reference to Texas. I suspect the general non Texas public may feel the same.

The full 1:04:11 video is here

“But according to the clarification by the Des Moines Register Perry was spot on right!”

Good try of damage control by his campaign; but that isn't what he meant after reading the transcript.

It's unfortunate; as I think Perry could have probably been the best candidate in this bunch with his background and record.
I know I would flub up 10 times more answers than he does.

But he just doesn't do well answering questions on the spot. A candidate will be harshly judged for that in today's world.

And; it may have nothing to do with how well he could govern. I just can't believe this hasn't been an issue during his current successful reign as governor; or any of the campaigns he would have went through to get in office.

I watched that video several times and saw absolutely no references to his previous statement about 8 judges on the SCOTUS.........How did I miss it and at what time frame was it mentioned?

Perry *is* wrong, there are ONLY 4 Supreme Court Justices.

Well, let me clarify that a bit... OCCASIONALLY, there are 5 supremes.

... oh, and there are 4 (mostly 5) Supreme Court chairs that seem to usually have some vile life form on top of them.

This poor Perry is the Republican Obama. Except that we in blogs and the media seem to have more fervor in ridiculing him instead of the SMARTEST MAN in the World, OBAMA, that is to say. This week he didn’t even know that he was in KANSAS, referring to Texas, early on he bragged about visiting all 57 states, and the list as visitors to this blog are well aware goes on and on (Corpse man, e.g.). But in each and every case he was given a pass, not even mentioned in some blogs and the MSM.

As we all know, the operative number is 5 (five, any five) and they are still unelected with even less resources and knowledge that the (mostly ignorant) 535 elected members have.

Now I assume that we shall have to put up with MSM (including Fox) will tear up Newt for an accurate but ill advised statement (ill advised only because he was not asked to clarify something for those not as well read in historical facts as he. They are Arabs and consider themselves as such. Just recall the dancing in the street when the news of the victims of 9-11 was made known.

signing myself (I will vote for any Republican against Obama)
