As Obama called for passage of those bills, he also responded to a recent Republican push to require him to approve the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada. “However many jobs might be generated by a Keystone pipeline,” he said, “they’re going to be a lot fewer than the jobs that are created by extending the payroll tax cut and extending unemployment insurance.”
How in the living hell does unemployment create jobs? What planet is he on?

Next November we will see how many completely brainless citizens reside in our extraordinary country. We and our children are completely at the mercy of people who would believe a word this idiot man-child tells them.
This man is a total idiot. Unemployment means people are not working. Instead they are home on their ass. Some like it, some would much rather have a good job.

2. subsidizing something causes it to remain static or grow
3. it is not self-sustaining, it will always cost the government to maintain it

1. private sector jobs help pay down the debt with taxes, balance the budget
2. private sector energy jobs create energy we need
3. it is self-sustaining, no government funds are required, and as long as this business can sell it’s energy supplies, the jobs will continue
I know this is a complex issue for people like Obama, but to the rest of us it’s as simple as can be.

In his textbook, Paul Krugman argues that no one disputes that unemployment insurance increases unemployment. In his NYT column, he argues the opposite. I agree with him half the time.

For every private sector unemployment claim filed, it must be examined, reviewed, processed and paid, which means that another government job must be created in Washington, D.C. Of course what he obviously failed to mention was exactly who is going to be left to contribute taxes that pay for these additional government jobs. But I’m sure he’s fixing to address that issue real soon.
