Really? Didn’t Jesus have a job?
Blessed are they who took out $150,000 in student loans to get a degree in Marxist Semiotics.
In a British magazine, the leader of the worlds 78 million Anglicans worldwide insisted that Jesus would be there, sharing the risks, not just taking sides.…
In his article written for the Christmas edition of the Radio Times magazine, the archbishop said Jesus was constantly asking awkward questions in the Bible.
In the St. Pauls encampment, Williams added, Jesus would be steadily changing the entire atmosphere by the questions that he asked of everybody involved rich and poor, capitalist and protester and cleric.
The archbishop said that when Jesus said give Caesar what belongs to Caesar, he was asking whats the exact point at which involvement in the empire of capitalist economy involves you fatally.”
The first question to be asked: “Can everyone please stop crapping on the floor of the cathedral?” He’s actually not the first Christian authority to nod at the Occupy movement — the Vatican’s Pontifical Council released a critique of the global financial system a few weeks ago that seemed timed to capitalize on the global attention to OWS — but I’m intrigued by his read on rendering unto Caesar, as that’s unfailingly cited by Christians on our side of the aisle whenever liberals claim Jesus would be a tax-and-spend redistributionist liberal. He seems to be suggesting that “Caesar” isn’t the state but capitalism itself, and that because “Caesar” wants more than what belongs to it, we have to deny it by turning to — what? Christianity? Higher taxes? A dingy tent city in front of St. Paul’s? Why would Jesus want to become an occupier instead of getting the occupiers to become Christians? Ever get the feeling that Rowan Williams isn’t totally confident in his own belief system?
Exit question: Is Obama maybe just trying to help the rich get into heaven? Look out for an “eye of the needle” reference in his next big class warfare speech!
Oh really? He knows this how?
Occupy Jerusalem maybe.
The Anglicans have jumped the shark.
Easy. Jesus was motivated by envy, jealousy, covetousness, bitterness and hatred. If I knew the Bible better I would be able to cite chapter and verse. As it is, you’ll just have to take my word.
Yes, the Occupy movement is JUST like Jesus preached.
This is the same person who says homosexual relationships are comparable to heterosexual marriage in the eyes of God.
And, it is peculiar how the author of this article, pretends ignorance and shows disdain for religious figures, when he drags the Catholic Church into this, when the Catholic Church teaches nothing of the sort.
2 Thessalonians 3: 10 & 11
10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.
11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies
This is the same Archbishop ( Rowan Williams ) who previously said:
“... certain provision[s] of sharia are already recognised in our society and under our law; ... we already have in this country a number of situations in which the internal law of religious communities is recognised by the law of the land as justified conscientious objections in certain circumstances in providing certain kinds of social relations” and that “we have Orthodox Jewish courts operating in this country legally and in a regulated way because there are modes of dispute resolution and customary provisions which apply there in the light of Talmud.
In some of the ways it has been codified and practised across the world, it has been appalling and applied to women in places like Saudi Arabia, it is grim.”
Show me one instance where Jesus participated in a riot or demonstration equal to what is going on today. Never happened.
People nowadays are losing their ever-loving minds!
Are you kidding me? The OWS losers would’ve kicked Jesus out the moment he started preaching.
Yeah, I can just see them sitting around listening intently while he delivers their Sermon on the Mount
Give me a break.
Remember, there was a growing zealot movement to overthrow the Roman government, but also those in the Jewish community that wanted to appease their Roman rulers. So, they tried to trap Jesus by asking if it was lawful to pay their taxes. Jesus said, "Whose image is on the coin?" They said, "Caesar's." Jesus' reply? "Render under to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."
That doesn't sound like the occupy movement. That sounds like a man more concerned about man's duty to his God.
Two times this week - for the first times in my life - I hear the expression “jump the shark.”
He would heal those who had faith, preach the gospel to all, and then continue on about His Father’s business.
Jesus believed people should work. Also, if God was a liberal there would be 10 suggestions instead of The 10 commandments. BTW...the rich pay more than their fair share in taxes in the USA.
His views:
And he looks like the Devil:
You’ve jumped the shark.
Is Jesus now Satan? That is the only explanation for some of these insane or maybe just evil churchmen.
He had way more important things to do
