In Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, the football gods have offered up a star that every father in America should be grateful for (provided they dont root for a rival team in the AFC West).
Tebow is respectful, wholesome and a man of God. He has no obvious failings besides an inaccurate throwing arm.
If Disney were to concoct the plot of a movie about an altogether admirable young man who joins the NFL and is scorned by all the experts for his unorthodox style, yet wins week after week, Tebow would play the lead. In fact, at this point Disney could make it a documentary.
Nonetheless, Tim Tebow is considered controversial. Its now cutting-edge to be a straight arrow. Its countercultural to be an outspoken Christian. A player who embodies everything meant by the cliché role model is for his critics a figure of fun, or even hatred.
Tebow is widely mocked -SNIP-
By any reasonable standard, though, Tebow is a blessing. He wont be getting arrested for groping a woman at a Halloween party (Julian Edelman), for accidently shooting himself with the Glock he smuggled into the dance club (Plaxico Burress) or for running a dog-fighting ring (Michael Vick).
He wont be taking performance-enhancing drugs. He may or may not continue his success on the field, but he will do everything he can to respect his teammates and his God.
Here is a prominent player who will almost certainly never require fathers to make awkward explanations to their kids about some spectacular scandal. Rejoice, America, rejoice.

Having been born in the Phillapine Islands to American parents he is building a Children’s Hospital there valued at $30M. The Tebow Foundation.
Hmmmmm, sounds like advocating violence to me!
The last boy scout quarterback I remember that was made fun of......for awhile, was Roger Staubauch! They didn't laugh for long. I hope Tebow gives 'em what for on the field with his ability. All the way to the bank!
“Tebow is the most hated man in sports”
Oh baloney. Not even close. Boers and Bernstein just don’t think he’s a good QB. They don’t hate personally him at all they mock him because they mock most everything.
There was similar talk about Kurt Warner because he was an openly Christian player.
Media promotes and loves dysfunctional people. It makes them feel normal.
They hate people like Tebow....there is no need for government agencies and many of the people who promote dysfunction and services, if you have a population of Tebows.
There is also the Cultural War on God-—they are trying to destroy Christianity—the Founding ideas of Natural Rights come from God. The ideology (Theology) which creates individualism, compassion, love, emotional security—etc.
The press and government want a world of sex addicts/druggies so they have a bunch of useful idiots to manipulate.
That’s football talk.
As far as I can see, the only controversy surrounding Tim is that he lives in a country full of people whose only god is government, and they don’t want any one else believing in any thing other than government.
We truly live in Sodom.
God Bless you, Tim.
I can’t stand the Broncos, but I respect the guy for the amount of vitriol he faces and he just goes out and plays and witnesses his faith.
I haven’t done a real study of it, but I have not heard a lot of current or ex-NFL players do more than provide mild criticism of this or that about his game...and his game does have holes...but the non professional sports guys all seem united in their disdain.
Just another example of the destruction of America by the evil media. All the thugs, wife beaters, dopers and scum in the NFL get a pass from the media.
The NFL gets a fine upstanding young player and the lib media blasts him endlessly.
Same thing in politics. Any republican that is ahead in the polls gets trashed by the media while the commie muzzie in the white hut gets no truth told about him.
Some players can get caught with 6 strippers and a bag of crack, find god (not God) the very next day and be praised for it. In fact, they become football analyst on national TV and have radio shows.
He’s put the fun back in football in Colorado, so that’s been nice.
The liberal/gay/castrati/beta-male culture has good reason to fear (hate) him. He clashes with their loser/victim self-image.
He showed some improvement in his throwing mechanics Sunday. We’ll see if that continues.
In fairness, I am a big Tim Tebow fan, but my favorite football player of all time will always be Lawrence Taylor, because he was the best football player in every game he ever played in.
This Tebow thing has done nothing but increase, and I didn't think it was possible; hatred of sports MSM.
Do they mock Vick as frequently?
Or the clumsy dancer with the gun in sweatpants?
What they should be talking about is whether this player is going to redefine excellence in his position.
Meanwhile the NFL gets more interesting. The 49ers, by shear chemistry wins the division early.
The Packers, well how can such a small market continue to dominate the biggest sport in America?
I can't describe the tone in the guys voice but it hit me very wrong.
Revenue sharing. Look into it.
I don’t think Tebows arm is as weak as been reported. He seems to work very hard on his throwing mechanics. Its only a matter of time before he gets good with it. Chad Pennington had a weak arm but was accurate and smart. Tebow is the same but also a lot stronger and more durable than Chad. Tebow is a winner and Denver is fortunate to have him.
Mine was directed more to Prime Time and Michael Irvin. Haha.
