I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are members of the community, who may have done something 25 years ago, separate them from their families and expel them. Im prepared to take the heat for saying, lets be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families.
He added, I do believe if youve been here recently and have no ties to the U.S., we should deport you.
Newt did himself significant harm tonight on immigration among caucus and primary voters, tweeted Tim Albrecht, the spokesman for Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R).
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) called the proposal amnesty.

So then keep the ones who pay taxes and deport all of them who are collecting some sort of benefits? If you change that a little to make those that are paying taxes also start paying back those benefits they collected while illegal and agree to not collect any benefits, such as EITC, for 10 years after, I think I can go with that.
I had considered voting for Gingrich... but on second thought ... it would not be “humane”
no... what Newt basically said is that it’s wrong to give illegal aliens a tuition brake... we should just give them amnesty so they can get the tuition brake along with all other citizens.
lol
I had considered voting for Gingrich... but on second thought ... it would not be “humane”
Or maybe they just don't care.
Sarah Palin is not a candidate. Maybe you haven't heard.
I don’t think so, LH. If they have children and grandchildren born here, they are able to stay anyway, even it it’s only a vistor’s visa, since they’re visiting family.
It’s all a moot point.
The new illegals, Gingrich said should be shipped back to their home of birth. That makes sense.
Think about it in terms of the military. I know any number of people who were stationed in Germany and then married Germans. The families of either do visit and visit and visit either nation and have open-ended staying rights.
You can say what you want about Newts stance about what to do with illegals in the situation that was expressed last night,WHEN the Border is secured and the issue of what to do with those already here, but why do the rest of the Candidates get a Pass? Hammer Newt all you want but NO other candidate has addressed what they are going to do with the Millions of Illegals that have been here for Decades, AFTER THE BORDER IS SECURED<SHUTDOWN<FENCE BUILT,ETC. That is what Newt was talking about,so lets Hear from Romney ,Bachman Cain,Paul,Santorum,Huntsman,Thy should not be able to just say I will shut the Border and THEN deal with those that are here later, NO NO NO ,tell me NOW what you will do with them. Newt has.
My wife grew-up in South America. She loves screwing with the "no speak english" bunch. Evesdropping mostly. She's in law enforcement and it's safe to say that Hispanic crooks are just as dumb as "white" ones. Especially when it comes time for the bad guys to talk strategy and so confine their conversation to exclusively Spanish in front of the gringos because it's common knowledge none of them speak Spanish.... LOL

How Sarah Palin Would Tackle Illegal Immigration (July 9, 2010)
NYET to NEWT!
Par for the course for Catholic converts pols. They all seem to think the Third Worldization of America is a good thing and are staunch defenders of “family reunification” instead of criteria related to skill
sets, intelligence, and source culture. If the immigrants were Muslim Newt, like most Romanists, would be singing a different tune.
90% of Mexicans don’t fit that profile. Deport them now, and watch La Raza, the Catholic Bishops, and the media squeal.
Just what is with these feckless politicians? Deport these illegals with prejudice.
The primary danger to the USA from illegals is "if" the legalization process turns them into voting citizens (and thus "loyal Democrats"). An amnesty that grants a NON-VOTING permanent residency would avoid that, and is an option that I can live with for those who have been fully law-abiding during their "non-legal" tenure.
For a smart man, this was a STUPID move ... “amnesty” in ANY form is tantamount to touching the “third rail” just to see if it is working. Dumb move from a very smart man.
I’m not sure of your point, other than to prove in Palin’s world amnesty does not = amnesty if registration is required.
In fact Palin, like most politicians, still uses the way outdated number of 12 million illegals and never acknowledged the fact that illegal aliens, law breakers by definition, cost US tax payers ~ $1/4 - $1/3 Trillion net per year, nor any recognition of the fact that if immigration law were enforced, the illegals would self deport.
Think carefully about what Newt said. He said,
“Is it inhumane to deport an illegal immigrant who came to the United States 25 years ago,”
Why did he choose 25 years ago and not 20 or 30.
People assume that 25 years was just a number that Newt pulled out of his ass.
It is not.
Think back about about what happened 25 years ago.
That would be 1986.
That was the year Ronald Reagan’s bill gave amnesty to the then current residents in exchange for sealing the border.
The border wasn’t sealed and millions more Mexicans and other poured over the border.
The people who came after 1986 were illegal. But the people who came before 1986 were legalized if they bothered to come forward.
So Newt is talking about a law that is already on the books.
Because we are in a cult of personality.
It isn’t just illegal aliens who need to be assessed in terms of devotion to country and understanding our principles. I submit there are a good many who would do our country better than, say, the OWS types.
As I said, throw out the moochers and commies.
