*snip*
The former House speaker, who is putting a campaign organization together on the fly, failed to qualify for the contest in the Show Me State.
According to the Missouri Secretary of State's office, Gingrich did not file the necessary papers as of Tuesday's 5 p.m. deadline. That means his name will not be on the Feb. 7 ballot.
The filing requirements are not particularly onerous. A $1,000 check and some paperwork are all that's needed.

It would seem to be a highly stupid, and potentially fatal, bid to become the nominee and fail to ensure that you’re on each state.
Imagine if it did come down to Gingrich and Romney and they were tied, but Gingrich lost because of this one error.
If I were a conspiratorialist, I’d suggest that maybe Gingrich really wasn’t running, but trying to take away support from another candidate so that the other candidate wouldn’t get the nomination.
No delegates will be awarded in the Mo primary. It's a beauty contest. The state Republican Party will hold caucuses in March to award delegates.
Not making excuses for Newt. Just simply trying to give the full story.
Your home state. Guess you can write him in :)
More moronic anti-Newt hysteria.
Newt’s team failed to get his name on a ballot that will produce zero delegates! Oh my gosh! Whatever will he do?!?!?!?!?!?!
Yawn.
This is not what you would expect from a candidate who is serious about winning.
It is what you would expect from a “stalking horse” type of candidate, who is being paid off to draw conservative votes away from other candidates. Who knows?
Maybe Gingrich is just air headed, or it was just an oversight. But it sure is strange.
Sounds like someone is playing politics.
Why zero delegates?
The couch is doing him in. What a visual error.
looks like the RINO’s aim is to split the conservative vote by making the right noises so that Mittens gets nominated.
Got it...Missouri Republican party has decided to run caucuses at the congressional district, regional, and state levels.
Delegates will be chose at each of those. There is no statewide vote being taken.
I had the same thought when I saw this post. I think you are correct. This guy is a RINO fraud who is not interested in winning. He wants to make sure that Mittens wins this.
so basically your saying he isn’t smart enough to hire people to actually get him on the ballot?
lol
that sounds much better!
lol
Looks like it’s time for a new wife.
lol. That’s not a good sign for his organizational skills
Yeah, I said that up thread,
but I still think lost momentum
could be a real factor that a
candidate would want to avoid.
Missouri’s caucus is March 17. The February “primary” is a straw poll-like beauty contest and does not correlate to delegates.
“A $1,000 check and some paperwork are all that’s needed.”
Some of these candidates have dummies running their campaign, or are their workers moles?
Good luck with that. I don’t think he will be a contender by that point anyway.
