Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
“As for Newt, I thought it was courageous for him to bring this up and be willing to take the heat for it-knowing what the reaction would be in threads like”
Where’s Newts compassion for the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs and would do most of the jobs these illegals now have.
These illegals are taking jobs that most Americans will now do to survive!
glad you sent that to all.
The Soviet Union did not attack my countrymen. Islamic terrorists did. We could clearly see the Soviet Union coming had they tried to attack. Without the Patriot Act? Good luck identifying terrorists until AFTER thousands of your countrymen are murdered.
That is of course, if you give a crap.
Rerun starting now on CNN. Missed the live run, but it sounds like Newt finally discussed him amnesty plans for all debate watchers to consider.
Based on what I have seen thus far of these candidates, if I were able to choose the president it would be Bachmann followed by Santorum in 2nd place. But since I can’t choose, I would pick Gingrich as the nominee because he will be able to destroy Obama in a debate and, more importantly, be able to keep the media honest DURING the debates. Debates are critical as they are one of the few opportunities to break through liberal/media lies.
Perry is too dumb. Cain is likable and competent, but a lightweight. Still don’t know why Huntsman is on the stage. Romney is the 2nd best debater but is who the democrats want to face - healthcare is a big part of the reason.
The law hasn't improed the situation, then?
I agree....I think he does too...and he does consider the American people in what he determines best for the whole country. We hear this often as he lays out his plans.
I do think we're all concerned how the MSM frames these debates. Apparently Wolff wanted those not in front to be heard tonight and that's pretty much what happened. But a foolish idea when this was being aired Internationally.. and our country needs so much to be seen with it's strongest candidates.
The media is certainly against the Republicans and for that my disdain for them is unending.
And then there's the fourth group - the group I am in - who believes that no one entering this country who is not on the legitimate path to citizenship should be given any government handout whatsoever, including education and public health care. Cut off the welfare, and you cut off the undesirable immigrants. The ones who chose to remain and work towards citizenship will turn out to be better Americans than a majority of our current citizens.
Absolutely!
From the totally stupid Human Events
Giving these criminal invaders a “legal path” just encourages more to come.
We have to totally stop the employment of illegal aliens. They will leave.
Exactly. Unemployment is down in Alabama because the poultry plants and farmers have lost their source of cheap labor. And that is a good thing.
Are you prepared to be the forgotten party in fifteen years? Deport every illegal regardless of circumstance and you will hand political power to the anti-American democrats for the rest of your lifetime. You really are portraying the exact hate-filled image the DNC paints of Republicans. Makes me doubt you’re even a conservative.
But don't worry, you're not the only one who mis-heard him, and you're not the only one who was ready to jump on him for “being wrong.”
It turns out he was right.
I call it a temporary visa that gets them in the system, and puts them at the back of the line.
That is what Perry has said.
We had migrant workers when I was a kid in the 60’s in Ohio.
They came, they went, they weren’t citizens , and I don’t recall serious crime.
I have a brother on a visa in India.
He is trying to bring his family back here.
When they come, they will be on a visa until they become citizens, should they qualify.
I would think they qualify. They are family of a US citizen.
Born and raised here.
“You need to blame the Federal Government on that one. It is the same here in Arizona”
Right, and you well know what happens to a state that tries to protect its own border, with this traitorous administration. It gets sued by Obama/Holder, that’s what.
You know it has.
See post#1653
He says secure the borders so no more come, send back the criminals and those who recently got here and I don't know “how recent” that would be. I suppose a limit would be set - like being here 10 years, or whatever years, and being assimilated in the community in good standing.
That's really all we can hope for and Newt knows it. Sometimes the truth hurts, but the truth, reality, is what he said.
Not in my opinion.
They just got a basket of new woes.
