Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
Newt is precisely correct that the party claiming to be the party of/for families in America is not going to split up a family which has roots deeply planted in local communities. BUT, there has to be some cut off line of how long someone can have been here and how deeply woven into the local community. THERE is the problem with Newt’s clear declaration, IMHO. I don’t know if a clear cut off can be drawn, but that is the next step and will be the rope in a tug of deceits ... the leftists will want to hang Newt on any cut off and pubby agitprops will seek to argue Newt is in favor of amnesty. What Newt suggests is a form of amnestya nd there is no way to get around that. In the end, the Republicans will be separated from the Hispanic vote if the media can frame thsat party as the party which wants to split up familes. Sadly, too many posters at FR will now help the media by taking a stance which is a cold ‘deport them all’ strategy just because it is expedient to stick to the purity test the left always uses to trap conservatives.
You've never sounded as liberal as you did in that post. Good show.
Alabama will save itself billions (with a B) by not having as many illegals dependent on state funded services, healthcare etc. Moreover, 80% of the population of the state loves the bill and want it. If farmers and poultry plant workers have to pay a reasonable wage for labor, tough. They shouldn't have been employing ILLEGAL aliens in the first place.
The Alabama bill was great for Alabama. Only the pro-ILLEGAL alien crowd (you, Obama, Perry) think that a bad thing.
“Well Newt won this debate”
Amnesty isn’t amnesty?
In other words the Alabama law accomplished nothing.
It only shifted the problem.
Cutting off welfare to illegal deadbeats would necessarily accomplish the rest. Welfare has become the worst enabler that this country has produced. Even for domestic deadbeats.
Newt is for amnesty, Cain is for an electrified fence.
those are the facts.
Would you deport every illegal?
Cain was joking with a country crowd in Harriman,TN when he said that and it was just a way to get a tough joke in on a very self-sufficient community. You bring it up as much as the deranged left.
Yep, she did look pretty hot tonight.
>> “Newt says amnesty isnt amnesty.” <<
.
Noot is out to wipe us out.
Worst candidate of all time; makes Bob Dole look conservative.
If selling oil is a big deal to Syria, then you go after that.
It's like punishing your child. If you send your kid to his room, thinking that is punishment, but he has his X-Box or Wii in his room, then it's no punishment to the kid. You have to punish where it will hurt THEM, not where it will (or won't) hurt US.
TROLL ALERT!
It's a moat damit.
I am telling you the TRUTH.
Agreed.
Yep...me too...and they haven't a clue of the reality of the illegal numbers, nor the reality it's never going to be a matter of sending them all home...they refuse to face the reality their "Dream" of our nation being without Hispanics is just never going to happen. You cannot send 30 million people back ...can you imagine the rising up they would do against this?
I would prefer electric alligators in the mote, but that’s just me.
yes I would, and all their kids too.
Americans, excluding the pro-ILLEGAL/Perry crowd, don't want to give anything to ILLEGAL aliens. And just like Perry, Newt just doesn't get it.
